BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Fuzzyduck121 on Oct 24, 2019 10:43:59 GMT 1, He was spot on with the “art irritates life “ strapline
Without a doubt this protracted and purposefully strained process of dripfeeding the information and the editions is straining even the patient amongst us
The whole thing is a work of performance art veiled as a commercial venture twisted into a lawsuit and governed by charitable ethics Genius if you ask me

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by nex on Oct 24, 2019 10:52:06 GMT 1, As GMA suggests, its important to stay true to one self. Living alone I often check myself and my agenda, I think it's important to reflect on your actions and the reasons for them. If you don't then the World, and the way you perceive it treats you, becomes that small 'window' you're looking out from. My mother is almost in her 80's and she has always said to us, 'They were raising money for children in Africa when we were kids, there will always be starving children in Africa'. She said this in the context of 'Charity begins at home'. Perhaps we should add 'Charity' to 'never discuss Politics or Religion'? I guess Charity is now Politics. My belief, however horrendous events are, is that this is the status quo - History teaches us this: there will always be War, there will always be the downtrodden, there will always be death and famine. I am not saying this status quo is acceptable, sadly it just is. The only difference is that it is OUR time, we are living through it and what makes a difference is how WE react to these events that counts - that is what Humanity is. How much compassionate and empathy we have for our fellow man. I'm still not sure my mother has a valid point but I use it as an example of attitide and generational perspective. This is a stream of consciousness and I wasn't going to bother wrting anything, but merely give up on the forum again and delete my account. What changed my mind was realising this forum is actually quite important as a social document. If there isn't now, there will be a student out there very soon who will study this thread, either as part of their art or psychology dissertation. And so what we write here is important and goes beyond mere pieces of art we hope to be custodian of (we never 'own' anything) that everyone else here desires. Art and technology has changed so much, and continues to change. Take a look at the art Jonathon Yeo is making with the help of Google and technology. These changes include commentary; never before has the man in the street been able to project his words around the World, and into History, so easily, thanks to the internet. A gift which in itself has fast become the status quo. Imagine if you had a resource to go back and read what ordinary people in the street thought of Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Picasso's Guernica or Duchamp's Fountain. I don't mean what a journalist or critic wrote in a newspaper or book. I mean people just like us, taping away on a forum.
Thank you to those trying to have a reasoned debate - it is much appreciated.
The self reflection, the lessons learned, the shared knowledge and experience are what can make a forum a powerful and positive force.
Whilst I’m not going to go into detail. I’d like to add that the world isn’t in status quo to me at least, society has changed a great deal over a very long period. Nationalism was the preset for many, but given technology and communication it is rapidly changing to internationalism. That’s not to say the former will go quietly but it is changing. As those constructs start to fall, so do those around sexuality, age, disability and many others. In the last 40 years I’ve witnessed a powerful force for good through all this. Now in my children I see the optics through which they see the world are entirely different to how I saw the world in the 70s.
Norms are shifting, the younger generations are coming together, our responsibility is to support and guide them and be open to change.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by pellets on Oct 24, 2019 11:15:11 GMT 1, If you haven’t already, you should pick up a copy of Stephen Pinker’s The Better Angels of our Nature and Enlightenment Now. He covers how things may seem worse now because there is more communication and awareness around the world but that things have been getting better across the board for humans in general. Its an optimistic, research driven narrative.
There is obviously a lot of work still to be done but things are constantly getting better and there is reason to have hope.
(Though obviously these sentiments are of little comfort to someone watching their family drown in the middle of the Mediterranean).

It meant I got to witness the games industry growing and evolving into what it is today. The same goes for the internet and technology (mobile phones, internet speeds), I think it's been great to have come from a time where I've been lucky enough to experience both sides of the evolution of technology. I'm probably steering off topic here a bit, but it has really been exciting to see it all. Even when I used to work at a printers, it amazes me to think back then we could sit at our macs, designing while smoking fags, it was the norm. That has all changed. Lots has changed over the years, peoples attitudes, technology, the way we communicate and collaborate. It's all moved so fast. I wonder what the next chapter of this evolution has in store for us.
**Edit, just to add, what else is also amazing is witnessing how physical formats of vinyl were very popular when I used to DJ (a story for another time), it then all changed and MP3s took over, digital formats took over, no more physical vinyl, cassettes went too and it was all digital. But now, people are preferring physical items over digital copies.

I read that clause to mean that if you're luckily enough to be selected and by some reason someone screws up on their side and the item that you've chosen is no longer available, they have the right to offer you something else.
you *do* need to be selected first though.
