Iconic pieces from this movement..., by hlarmy on Sept 2, 2010 22:05:06 GMT 1, Another random question if I may? What do you think are the iconic images of the street art / urban art movement so far, and at this moment in time?
I'm not as big a follower as many on here but some pieces that I remember being widely talked about and desired when I started getting interested in all this back in 2007 are:
- Banksy's Morons or Girl With Balloon (although I appreciate that there are loads of others that could be considered Banksy's most iconic image, as discussed many of times in the past). Let's leave Banksy out of this one for now
- Nick Walker's London TMA
- Beejoir's LV Child
- Mantis' iNeed
- one of DFace's defaced portraits (not sure of their names but the Queen image stands out in particular)
- perhaps Adam Neate's portraits
- Yeo's Bush (excuse the pun!)
- JR's Favela
Just a few that came to mind - I'm sure there's loads more and I'm also sure many will disagree with the above - there's no right or wrong answer but I am interested to know which others that could be considered iconic of this 'movement'?

Iconic pieces from this movement..., by hlarmy on Sept 3, 2010 6:53:20 GMT 1, Some good suggestions; I would certainly agree that the Obama piece (not sure whether it's Fairey or Obey, is there a difference?), Dog Save the Queen and possibly Cauty's 1st Class Stamp are pretty special. Not sure of the others personally as the image / piece doesn't spring to mind; it would have been good to post pictures of each piece as we made suggestions but too time consuming I guess (save photo, login to photobucket, upload, copy IMG, paste into forum - I know I couldn't be arsed with all that - maybe when the thread dies I will go back throug the suggestions and do it )
Perhaps a Micallef piece as well - the one that blew me away was the Parasite piece in Rathbone Street a few years ago, but I'm sure there are more well known images by the artist

I agree, but I still like to think it's quite interesting to discuss something like this.
I guess it depends on how serious people take the thread... I'm enjoying reading the posts and hearing everyone's views, even if I don't agree with all of them
