I've just discovered how good flickr is recently. Once you get involved with it you find so much amazing work there.....

tips for 2008?, by EHC on Feb 8, 2008 17:59:14 GMT 1, I'm guessing the recent press on the Urban Art Auction is going to draw even more attention/big money to Choe's show. Probably the 1st major show by a street artist post-auction. Pretty damn good timing.
Hecox has always been a favorite of mine and his name is being thrown around more and more.
I'd like to see some of the more old school graf artists get more shine. After I'm able to pick up some of their stuff that is.

tips for 2008?, by dundermifflin on Feb 14, 2008 23:38:39 GMT 1, i'm a big fan of US artist Tiffany Bozic - www.tiffanybozic.net
she's not 'street' like most the artists on this forum, but her work is stunning. the pics don't do them justice. i saw a show of hers late last year in San Francisco and they look AMAZING in the flesh. she's got a show coming up this year at Kinsey/Des Forges.

tips for 2008?, by jusdeep on Feb 15, 2008 11:04:36 GMT 1, I reckon Paul Insect if his new work is anything to go by is gonna have a good year. Plus, if he was to have a follow up show after his recent Lazardiees sucess it could boost his prices dramatically. David Choe also stands a good chance with a show at Laz coming up. Ian Francis, Swoon also. But to be honest Eeelus has some nice new pieces in the pipeline and Dave Kinsey deserves a break - He's been around for what seems like years and his work has always been top notch.

tips for 2008?, by BONGO on Feb 15, 2008 12:13:00 GMT 1, BONGO TRIES NOT TO POST ANTAGONISTIC COMMENTS
BONGO HAS ALWAYS BEEN SURPRISED AT THE HYSTERIA FOR THE MYSOGONISTIC CHOE
ASIDE FROM THIS, BONGO FEELS THAT THERE IS LITTLE WITH ANY LONG TERM PROMISE APART FROM NEATE & FAILE, BUT FOR DIFFERENT REASONS.
BONGO ONCE ENTHUSED MICALLEF, BUT WOULD NOT HAVE ONE IN HOUSE NOW, AT ANY PRICE
BONGO STILL THINKS THERE WILL BE AN ENTHUSISTIC LOCAL FOLLOWING FOR MANY OF THE NAMES MENTIONED IN THIS THREAD, BUT BONGO DOES NOT SEE ANYTHING THAT STRIKES HIM AS ORIGINAL OR THAT EXCITES WITHOUT RECOURSE TO POOR QUALITY SCHLOCK HORROR / DERIVED WEAPONARY IMAGE / LAZY OVERUSE OF CORPORATE BRANDING ADAPTION / REPEAT AD NAUSEUM
BONGO BASE DECISION ALWAYS DEPENDS ON WHETHER BONGO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE AN IMAGE ON HIS POMME DE TERRE WALLS
BONGO RARELY SEES THAT SADLY
BONGO HAPPY TO STAND CORRECTED, BUT WHEN BONGO VIEWS LAZ OUTPUT, BONGO UNEXCITED

tips for 2008?, by dave313perry on Feb 15, 2008 13:45:16 GMT 1, my tuppence on a few artists, trends and possibilities for this year are as follows!!! and im no expert...
Banksy is the Godfather, the messiah!! - if the collective that is 'urban art' continues to strive, Banksy will be at the forefront, for anyone to surpass him they must divert away from the scene.
Eelus - massively under-rated and influential in many of the artists we see around us here, if he gets his arse into gear and joins a collective that will hype and promote then his basic skills and execution are second to only one or two IMO, few people turned their noses up at his multiple colourways of the same image which i think explains a little why he went off the boil.
TLP - Chaz's ability to create fun 'non political' highly skilled characters amazes me, and if this little gem is released to the masses i feel that the interest would be huge.
Parla - Starting to understand and appreciate the work myself, seems like the boom has already happened but massive potential still and fantastic originals which is what its all about!! those in the know more so than me have an original on the wall, then people like me who now appreciate and love the work look back in disgust with themselves for dismissing it first time round!!!
Beejoir - the potential for everyone to see, was hyped into infinity and the prices were unsustainable and placed massive pressure on his creative process IMO, but after a dip in interest it seems like hes on abit of a come-back price wise, and as his shows throughout the year gather pace im sure hes going to have a very very good year.
Choe - Edgy and different, a very 'likable' character who i think is very easy to relate to IMO, more similar to CG150 and he cant go wrong, one of the images of '07. although couple of recent releases were strange selections indeed, not the kind of thing for the average wall but i suppose that can be said about much of the art i own!!
there are a selection of artists out there who i think are only available to people in a good financial position as they seem to only produce originals and one offs so far - id love to own a Parla - Herakut - TLP - Asbestos amongst others, depending on how they go with production of prints they have the ability to reach the masses like the more prolific artists.
If it was on tip for 2008, for someone reasonably unknown it would be The london Police.
Peace Dave

tips for 2008?, by dave313perry on Feb 15, 2008 13:47:52 GMT 1, just to add - i believe that with the unstable housing market i think we have seen the start of alot of financial re-shuffling, and alot of big money players moving into the art-world for investment, the biggest up and coming collective of artists - 'urban art' IMO of course!!
low risk prices - huge potential...
thoughts???..
