The End of The World - NEXT WEDNESDAY , by ceba on Sept 4, 2008 16:40:35 GMT 1, Scaremongering. Amongst he fellow scientists that guy in the silver machine is known to make statements and conclusions about the cosmos that he himself now claims to dispute, I've never been taken in by all that abstract atomic world stuff. Nor by any evolutionary theories that fish came out of the see and at some point made a choice to either be a butterfly or an elephant. but i have withdrawn all my money from the bank just in case

The End of The World - NEXT WEDNESDAY , by spirit on Sept 4, 2008 16:52:51 GMT 1, If I am not mistaken...it is impossible to make a particle travel at the speed of light. However, it is not theoretically impossible (although it has not been done) to make a particle travel faster than the speed of light. Get your head round that one ;D Thats the stupidest statement i've read on here for a while now! Do light particles not travel at the speed of urmm what was it .... Oh yea light!
Don't know which threads you've been reading but I have read far, far stupider statements than that! What he means is it's theoretically impossible for anything other than light itself (ie anything with mass) to travel at the speed of light - which is correct I believe

If a black hole turns the world inside out I don't think it will matter much where your money is...unless you happen to have enough to buy a spaceship

The End of The World - NEXT WEDNESDAY , by jonpud on Sept 4, 2008 17:57:21 GMT 1, I have stood in front of a mirror and moved my eyes from left to right, right to left, up and down, down and up and even though I do it slowly I don't see them move in the mirror, does this mean they are moving at the speed of light or am I just a cnut?
Also, should I cancel my Dentist appointment on Thursday?

But if you are actually adam ant - I really fancy you

The End of The World - NEXT WEDNESDAY , by danvnuk on Sept 5, 2008 13:01:18 GMT 1, We've been talking about this in work - and I have come to the conclusion...that basically....
I'm too thick and uneducated to understand the theory behind this, and so therefore I cannot make a considered opinion on the pro's and con's of it.
All I know is....I don't want to be sucked inside out because some egghead got his decimal point in the wrong place.

Haha yea excactly my thought. Are the scientific results so important that they would risk the destruction of the whole fucking earth.
That 4.4 billion could have been invested in cancer research or something else more usefull without the risk of destroying every living thing on this planet including the planet itself.

The End of The World - NEXT WEDNESDAY , by danvnuk on Sept 5, 2008 13:13:54 GMT 1, But - weighing it up.....
Exhibit A - its been reported in the Daily Mail (see first post) - so that means there'sa 90% chance it's bullshit - they rotate through stories about the end of the world/house price crashes/immigrant invasion - and repeat.
Then the EggHeads have families too - would they really risk killing them all?
The West's Governments have funded this - would they risk it if there was even the remotest chance of it destroying the planet?
but saying all that, I'm going to purchase me a crowbar to fight off inter dimensional beasties......just in case.
