BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by richy00 on May 9, 2008 13:20:31 GMT 1, covered up so they can be removed at a later date though i think.... a pink NOT TO BE RESOLD would go rather fitting... just like on the placard rat around the corner it says 'fuck off back to bristol'

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by seidbereit on May 9, 2008 13:21:08 GMT 1, I like H's idea.... an alternatie would be to spray some sort of invisible watermark over the piece which only appears when that peeling technique is used. I imagine getting specialist to remove the surface of painted pieces costs quite a bit of money so they'd soon stop using it if it turned out that every piece they tried to remove using it was destroyed.

94Pu Invisible watermark that glows in the dark OHS may require a 'do not touch' sign

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by carbon on May 9, 2008 13:46:27 GMT 1, find the chearleader - save the world.
glow in the dark spraypaint and a cheeky stencil may make a decent watermark. Or Brown boat varnish. lol

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by daz205 on May 9, 2008 14:21:53 GMT 1, just a thought along the lines of invisible paint layers, if this technique removes 1 layer of paint at a time then an invisible do not remove or even a home made invisible cut out and keep stencil placed over the top of the rat would ensure that all the removers get is the first invisible layer of paint leaving the original rat in place with the siloette of the invisible cut out and keep etc stencil on show as clean paint. ( i think )

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by danvnuk on May 9, 2008 14:24:16 GMT 1, how about plastic film glued to the front of the piece with glue (Liberally applied) that is transparent when dry. (no idea what this mythical glue is or if it even exists? ;D Does Superglue dry transparent?)
I'd imagine removing it would rip the stencil off with the glue making it worthless.

Just dont use museum grade glass/plastic as it'll make framing cheaper when they rip it off the wall and it pops off in 1 piece!

a clear epoxy resin would do this well and preserve the image

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by carbon on May 9, 2008 14:31:21 GMT 1, still cant stop people removing sections of wall. But a glow in the dark, (goes on clear i think) 'fu**ing cu*ts' stencil over them might put a few people off hanging them in their living rooms.

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by zammo on May 9, 2008 14:47:06 GMT 1, i would say that plastic films or epoxy would be a bad idea as given the renering it may actually give it more stability and therefore easier to remove intact!, unless there was some way of rigging it like a car tax disc holder that destroys it on removal,

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by teatwosugars on May 9, 2008 15:02:02 GMT 1, Worth a look Hadnt realised what a bunch of sc*m bags these people were...news takes a while to get here....and how many were on the list/in the bag www.banksyart.org/page5.htm
Mate, it defies belief. My blood boiled the first time this came up. I'm glad it is being discussed again. This is the bit that worries me the most-
We continue to collect his pieces through a network of agents and private sellers and are set to expand the collection by another 25-40 pieces by July 2009.
I must say though that the suggestions of people on this thread have been superb- glow in the dark stencils over the top, additional elememts to the pieces, dummy stencils, booby traps, fading chemical sprays, and of course 'giving them a good kicking'
Of course, once we see that a piece is being prepped or covered we could always head down there as a mob and destroy the wall using toffee hammers (supplied by Bongo of course).

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by killerkellah on May 9, 2008 15:07:45 GMT 1, controversial, why dont we just paint over a few of them (the ones that say on their site, we are currently in discussion) and then leave a note explaining why it has been done.
ok, some rats may have to die for the cause, but it might just work....

THOSE WHO STEAL THE WORK OF THE VANDAL MUST EXPECT TO BE THE VICTIMS OF VANDALISM THEMSELVES.

aha - agreed, unless it was some kind of soft thin plastic, almost like a film that would be impossible to pull off in once piece, but would rip off in pieces taking a bit of the image with it.

BONGO ONCE AGAIN RAISE QUESTION ON BANKSYART.ORG, by danvnuk on May 9, 2008 15:58:31 GMT 1, How about we get the poison secreted by the Amazonian squiddler Frog* and impregnate this in the wall around the image in some fiendish way.
Will kind of cramp the removers style when they simultaneously shat themselves copiously and throw up,.......spasm, then drop dead.
*For illustration purposes only. Amazonian Squiddler Frog may not exist. All Rights Reserved.
