RCA Secret - Anyone get what they wanted?, by robinbanks on Nov 24, 2007 17:35:00 GMT 1, Evening All.
I just returned home from the RCA. Left the house at 5am this morning to get the first tube to South Ken - there must have been at least 500 people ahead of me in the queue  . Didn't get any of my first 11 choices  . Did get a nice little illustration by a girl called Alison Mellor  . Not sure who she is but am chuffed I didn't come away emptied handed.
Will post a pic later. Anyone else do any better?

I've been before and it's great fun meeting other people in the queue, once I had to leave to go to work and I handed over money for 3 or 4 cards to a total stranger who posted them on to me!

I was about 150 from the front (including the raffle winners). By the time I got in pretty much all of the big name cards had gone, which was to be expected. A lot of them were pretty easy to spot.
I mentioned this in another thread, but Pezlow is an absolute genius when it comes to RCA Secret. He was about 70th in the q and still managed to walk away with some very very desirable cards. I'll let him tell all, but keep an eye on the press tomorrow. You may well read about his day.

John and I have been doing this thing for years and we tend to share ideas and discuss things. In fairness it was he who first thought the black marker pen cards might be hirsts then we did loads of research and bobs your uncle - 2 each

The queue was unbelievable. Thought he had no chance but he was able to get my 2 chosen pics and his which would have been great choices ie Hurst and Blake were of course gone so he chose 2 random cards and was very happy with them.
Now the interesting part. 
When he was given my cards he turned them over to read who had done them and nearly fell over !!!!
NO not a famous artist but a good one. ;D
He said to the woman he thought there had been a mistake as it had MY NAME on it ;D well my surname, which is VERY rare believe me I know ALL of the family with the same name in the world!!!!. ;D 
It was my choice and the artist was Teresa Wicksteed, my husband was in shock and phoned me to tell me that I had chosen a card by a relative who I have met but NEVER seen her work before today. ;D ;D
So how's that for SPOOKY ;D
I've emailed her today and looked at her web site interesting
