TELL BONGO YOUR FAVORITE PIECE AND WHY, by GVD on Sept 27, 2007 20:22:41 GMT 1, I always hesistate to call something my favorite, but I really like this one:
Ericailcane lepidus timidus.
It just has a great feel and I love the detail. Look at the time of those little clocks, great .
Btw bongo, are you really an escaped gorilla with internet access?

TELL BONGO YOUR FAVORITE PIECE AND WHY, by corblimeylimey on Sept 27, 2007 20:32:10 GMT 1, This is a tricky one, I think I'd choose Happy Choppers (wish I had one), why? I really like the way that the macho helicopters have been cut down to size with just the addition of pink bows, the fact it's a street piece, and I like the blue background and clouds.

Perhaps you could ask Silky to set you up a Diana forum? And you could be a moderator.
I'm sure many people would join.

TELL BONGO YOUR FAVORITE PIECE AND WHY, by Filipino Box Spring Hog on Sept 27, 2007 20:58:21 GMT 1,
This is the favorite piece I own by an artist named, Pat Rocha, from Kansas City - US -
It's an oil on canvas, title is "Nightwatch."
It reminds me of myself when I was much younger, filled with wonder, fear, curiosity and bewilderment. It reminds me that although I've grown up, I'm really nothing more than a child whose been beaten down by adulthood - and that underneath all of the b.s. that goes along with being an adult - there may be some innocence left somewhere in me.
I am also touched by the stark loneliness of it all - how we're all alone - that this aloneness is our true common bond with one another, despite our shared experiences and shared earth.
It is a brillant painting from a brillantly talented artist. I had never heard of him before I purchased it and dropped nearly 5K on it without a second guess (for me that's a lot of money).
I never tire of the piece - I'll never sell it - it digs deep at my core - it's spiritual to me.

TELL BONGO YOUR FAVORITE PIECE AND WHY, by teatwosugars on Sept 27, 2007 21:15:34 GMT 1, Once again a single 'favourite', for me, is impossible to decide- there's too many great pieces throughout history.
The one that popped in my head when I saw this post, though, was Dali's Autumnal Cannibalism-
I've always loved Dali. My art tutor at Uni told me I'd grow out of it one day, but I still think his work is mesmerizing. I especially love the meaning behind this piece, the destruction of war and relationships, and I feel it's still as relevant today as it was then.
My art tutor was a t**t though- he also refused to recognise graffiti as an art form (it featured heavily in my own work) and, therefore, we never really saw eye to eye!
BTW, I love your choice Dupree. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

thanks...I like Dali a lot too...he has had a tremendous amount of influence on current artists here in the US and I'm sure elsewhere. I've never grown out of his work...don't see any need to...
if you go to www.lineagegallery.com you can view some more pieces by Rocha - he's still pretty much unknown because there isn't really any hype machine, large or small, behind him - if you ever get some extra cash...I'd highly recommend something of his..

I went for a hike on Wed. - up Mt. Mansfield in VT - went down the wrong side of the mtn. ended up 20 plus miles from the car - so, I hiked up again and back down - 7 hours on the tallest mtn. in Vermont - needless to say, nature kicked my ass! It was beautiful though.

TELL BONGO YOUR FAVORITE PIECE AND WHY, by funster on Sept 27, 2007 22:13:48 GMT 1, Ok Bongo, here's a little story from me after a couple of pints... one day I walked into a little place called Elms Lesters between meetings in London. I'd never heard of the gallery or the artists before but over in the corner was a piece of art that mesmorised me, a piece called Arms Outstretched by some guy called Adam Neate. Although wanting it straight away I was told by a really friendly guy (Paul) that it was reserved by an actress. Anyways to cut a long story short I got a phone call a couple of weeks later saying I could have it if I still wanted it Even now it mesmorises me and is the only opportunity I have to really say "I don't care how much its worth, I'm not selling it.". So thats my favourite piece and why, although to be honest a lot of 'why' is because of how it opened my eyes to the big world of art out there thats such a fixture in my life now
