David Hockney 🏴 Painting • Show News • Art For , by Hubble Bubble on Nov 12, 2016 17:52:25 GMT 1, Had a major wobble this week. Got a call from Germany telling me my card had been refused. Thought they taken payment on order (I went for 'Tulips ' right at the start) but it transpires they were taking it this week. Had a horrible moment of thinking I'd missed out before being reassured they'd kept the print for me. Have to say - excellent and friendly communication from Taschen so far.

My dog shat a pair of knickers!, by Hubble Bubble on Nov 5, 2016 0:15:04 GMT 1, I saw 2 dogs stuck together once. Looked most uncomfortable. There was lots of that in Peru. My mate saw a dog 3 way stuck together when he was out there. There must've been an unhappy male dog somewhere amongst them.
Is it wrong to be aroused by the thought of a '3 way stuck' ?

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by Hubble Bubble on Nov 3, 2016 18:50:55 GMT 1, FFS... enough of all this... I've got used to us being out. Let's get on with it. It's like breaking up with a girlfriend you love, I don't want to have to go through all that pain again.

RIP PETE BURNS, by Hubble Bubble on Oct 24, 2016 20:32:51 GMT 1, Sad but not surprised to be honest, ruggs... the amount of stuff he must have had pumped into him.
(no gags... you know what I mean).
Loved his version of 'Right Round'... not so much his later persona.

Show us YOUR - Canvas, by Hubble Bubble on Oct 18, 2016 21:17:44 GMT 1, Seems as relevant place as any but what are peoples thoughts on canvas behind UV glass or bare? Ive got a few I'm undecided on...obviously value will come into the equation.... I like the 'natural' hanging of canvases so you can really see the textures but know its a personal thing... I have a few framed. Dust is a pain on a canvas, especially ones with layers of paint.
Agree. And glitter!

Actually - checking up. It sold for £69k which the seller received. I think these are figures from someone who assumed there was a seller's premium to pay. Which, I'm informed, there wasn't.

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Hubble Bubble on Oct 14, 2016 15:06:05 GMT 1, I'll take that bet, how much would you like?! *T&C's* The 'Forum auction's' sellers price of £69k x 2 = £138k vs Large auction house hammer price or more?....... Basically, £138k or more. I'll put £20 on it? Where do you get £138k from? It sold at £69k plus commission which is just over £86k total

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Hubble Bubble on Oct 14, 2016 14:57:48 GMT 1, No I mean the buyer paid that for it. The seller received £69k. Perhaps I should have said "£86k to the buyer". cheers HB Lol, got it, thanks! Wow, what percentage commission do they charge? If a GWRB went to one of the larger auction houses, I bet that price would be doubled! One thing at a time.
I believe their commission was 25% plus 4% artist resale rights plus VAT on the commission only, not the hammer. This is pretty standard for all auction houses give or take, so the buyer has to factor this in when they are buying. So, any buyer worth their salt will back calculate and know their ceiling. For instance... if I have approximately £85k with which I'm prepared to purchase a GWRB, I know that I won't be able to bid above £69k hammer. Same with all the pieces.
There's no reason to think a 'bigger' auction house would produce better results. This was a well advertised sale and the chance of getting two competing buyers together was as good at this sale as any that Christie's or Bonhams might have achieved IMHO.
It seems it was about the right price for the piece given all that's been said. Debate can rage over whether it's a sensible price, but it's the price that someone's paid, nonetheless.

Banksy Golf Sale Print, by Hubble Bubble on Oct 13, 2016 12:54:22 GMT 1, I think the edge of the image is too close to the frame to be CND Soldiers? I'm happy to have a small wager Look at the love rat, it's the same. He's not used any mounts, so some of the print is hiding behind the frame. Ah... gotcha.
