Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Hubble Bubble on Jun 24, 2022 15:02:42 GMT 1, Strangely enough @phlegyas I'm not sure I agree. I'm a fan of Noir work but find this size too big to cope with the simplicity. I prefer the 30cm works. I did like the Oli Epp I saw at Sotheby's a while back which was massive but a bit 'stronger' than this Noir, for me.
I also find this head a bit too ugly for my taste. All these are, of course, just personal opinions. Hoping it goes well though.

Thierry Noir 🇨🇵 Berlin Wall • French Street Arist , by Hubble Bubble on Jun 23, 2022 10:58:24 GMT 1, Is there a point to all this fluffing? I think we understand now that Noir is doing very well at auction so that's good if you're interested in selling Noir for a profit. If you're not then it's not really of any consequence. Otherwise is it all just 'I told you so'? Genuinely not sure as to why these threads keep repeating themselves ad nauseam on almost any Noir piece that comes to auction. HB

Buying from Auction, by Hubble Bubble on May 25, 2022 10:59:35 GMT 1, Not many artists have COAs. For me, One of the joys of buying at auction is a bit of detective work on provenance and condition etc.

The Best Film Ever, by Hubble Bubble on May 19, 2022 22:43:37 GMT 1, See this last night and already want to see it again Everything Everywhere all at Once.
I enjoyed EEAAO but found it a bit ‘loose’ albeit adrenalised and fun. Did you see ‘Swiss Army Man’? I think I preferred the way they dealt with similar themes on a much smaller scale.

Sothebys Contemporary Curated Ends 28th April, by Hubble Bubble on Apr 27, 2022 18:33:14 GMT 1, I think his work has developed so much that these earlier pieces are very rough in comparison. It’s also pretty small from memory. HB But even £8,000 for a unique artwork on canvas from a much loved artist is still a surprise.
Agreed, yes.

Tracey Emin - Self Portrait Prints, Counter Editions, by Hubble Bubble on Apr 24, 2022 14:35:31 GMT 1, What would you consider to be her best? It’s all about opinions and these threads tend to actually mean something if people elaborate on their opinions. This place has really died a death in terms any art discussion. People only get excited by how much they can flip something for. Bed? I think her sculptures and embroidery are as important as her paintings. As for these prints they're great but not her best work let's get real. Agreed this forum is pretty much useless these days unless like me, you get immense pleasure reading posts by people talking up the latest print they purchased in the hope of flipping it. That's what's going on here and it fools no one
I’m not sure anyone in their right minds would buy these thinking they could flip them?

Tracey Emin - Self Portrait Prints, Counter Editions, by Hubble Bubble on Apr 24, 2022 10:36:32 GMT 1, That is the beauty of art re: Munch show - we can all like/buy different things! You guys are both so positive about these new ones it intrigues/excites me more to see the show. If no one has done it by time I go I'll add some photos to the thread too.
Completely agree LIITA. Some of my most enjoyable afternoons have been spent discussing the merits or otherwise of work whilst stood before a piece with someone who doesn’t see it in the same light that I do.

Completely agree in terms of art discussion , Dungle.
It’s become so binary… ‘I don’t like it so it must be shit and I’ll ridicule anyone who likes it’. It’s very odd and smacks to me of a deep seated insecurity.
I’ve seen the prints in the flesh - unframed and presented together. I found the scale, range, intimacy and, of course, the subject matter right up there with anything I’ve seen by the artist. Unlike Love Is In The Air (above) I didn’t particularly enjoy the works I saw in the Mumch/Emin show - I found them rather ‘obvious’ and ‘grand guignol’. With these works, using a ‘sad’ blue, she has (for me) achieved a melancholy that I’ve rarely seen in her work. A true glimpse into her soul, if you like.
I very much look forward to seeing the full show now that it has opened. And it’s good to be discussing the work of a leading artist rather than staring at snide comments and wondering why folk bother.
Looking forward to an ice cream In Margate
