Adam Koukoudakis??, by BK83 on Jul 2, 2007 19:23:31 GMT 1, Absolutely agree ManchesterMike -- they're completely irrelevant. By using the paint drips he says something completely different about the image. it's all you notice and totally detracts from the concept. I hate to be the one to say it, because I know people love Koukadakis so much (although cant figure out why), but that sort of thing truly is the mark of amatuer artistic talent. There I said it. Flame away.
*edit
I only say this because a lot of artists seem to use this technique of the drips and splatters without really thinking about it's usage. I agree ins some instances it is indeed effective and an absolute must in a piece, but a lot of artists use it without understanding the artistic merit behind it. Whenever this is done the artists is essentially referencing Jackson Pollock and the problem with that is that by referencing him you draw the viewer into a relationship with the artist and Pollock and quite Frankly -- Pollock did it best. Koukadakis is not using the paint drips here for visual referencing to the art, he is merely using them as a visual aesthetic that instead of adding value to the image severely detracts value.

Love when he mentions that the 'Mona Lisa is a banksy favorite' and he shows a picture of Nick Walker's Moona Lisa. haha. Well researched....

Worst thing Banksy has his name to?, by BK83 on Mar 8, 2008 18:25:33 GMT 1, I'd have to say this Infact I'm sure he never did it
With you on that Frankie -- It's too poorly executed to have been done by Banksy. The idea is good -- but I really don't think Banksy did it.....

Conor Harrington Prints, by BK83 on Feb 22, 2008 1:44:22 GMT 1, how do you buy prints from laz, is it over the phone? Usually the easiest way. Really suprised that the last print ( where the sun does shine) hasnt sold out yet, an absolute corker, but nice and quiet is nice too, no crazy hyping, just a quiet apreciation.
That is the absolute best thing about Conor, quiet appreciation. affordable prices for an artist that will be here for the long run.

Sculpture of Banksy, by BK83 on Feb 21, 2008 22:16:35 GMT 1, That was actually from a series done by some artists -- I think it was called art terrorist series or something. There was one of Shepard Fairey and Kaws as well I think... They have long since sold out. never see them pop up on the bay either...
