NEW Conor Harrington "Holy Smoke" Print, by BK83 on Dec 15, 2010 20:52:51 GMT 1, Connor is such a tremendous artist. I feel like we will be hearing about him well into the future. Modern, contemporary, museum quality work IMO.

Saber ๐บ๐ธ Graffiti Art โข Los Angeles โข For Sale, by BK83 on Dec 7, 2010 22:03:40 GMT 1,
Confused as to why? My flag artwork is unavailable for sale... it was commissioned by Interview Magazine in 2009. They have the artwork. End of story.
By your logic, if I was "shamelessly plugging" the artwork (as you say), it would require us to travel back in time at which point I suppose I would also be "shamelessly plugging" Delorean's and the entire Back to the Future film catalogue.
If I wanted to shamelessly plug my art, I would have created my own thread in the artists section and asked Silky to give me a big red star with my name in a nice shade of beetroot juice.
I love Saber's work - he is a graffiti legend. Does that mean I have to love every piece of art the guy puts out? What world do you live in?
I've been a member here for four years - I was under the impression that this was, and is, an art forum. You know - a place for discussing art. My mistake if that is not the case.
Plenty of people on here can vouch for the fact that I rarely, if ever, make mention of my artwork, so if you re-read my post you will find that I was being more than a little tongue-in-cheek about the whole thing.
As Fat Bastard from Austin Power's would say "Oh everyone loves their own brand, don't they? This is magic!"

Saber ๐บ๐ธ Graffiti Art โข Los Angeles โข For Sale, by BK83 on Dec 7, 2010 19:47:20 GMT 1, Whilst I agree with RPM's sentiments regarding Saber's work on this multiple edition and his use of the flag in general, I find this particular work to lack any pleasing visual aesthetic (Please know that I am referring to the artwork wholly in its compositional and graphic form, as I understand each one from the edition is hand-finished and therefore slightly different from the next).
But then again, maybe I am being biased towards my own Star Spangled Banner artwork that I was commissioned to produce for Interview Magazine last year.
10" x 15", screen print, 2009 Commissioned artwork for Interview Magazine www.dirquo.com

Banksy hits Number 10, by BK83 on Nov 13, 2010 6:53:44 GMT 1, Well... Not really. But it is a fun read!
www.thepoke.co.uk/index.php/2010/11/12/banksy-hits-number-10/
ART NEWS: Banksy, the Scarlet Pimpernel of the art world, succeeded last night where many others have also succeeded โ and made a cock out of Number 10.
Outwitting security that includes multiple CCTV cameras, armed response units, radar, air support and a bobby on the doorstep, the publicity-hungry/shy graffiti artist somehow left one of his trademark stencils at the door of power last night โ causing an immediate media storm.
โIs it art?โ frothed Guardian correspondent Giles Harbinger, โor is it vandalism? Or is it, in fact, the free and sane expression of the peopleโs feelings towards their governors?โ The Daily Mail heralded it as a shocking indictment of the benefits culture. The Star recreated the image with some models.
This morning the Metropolitan police were unclear as to whether they would be issuing a warrant for Banksyโs arrest, following โmixed messagesโ from Number 10 itself.
โWell of course it is embarrassing,โ said a cabinet minister who asked not to be named,โ but then again the value of the house has just gone up by about half a million pounds. Money is tight these days so, you know, and to be honest the Treasury is saying โwell hang on a minute, lads โ there might be something in thisโฆโโ

Cartrain ๐ฌ๐ง Tate Gallery โข Damien Hirst โข Gilbert & George, by BK83 on Nov 11, 2010 22:20:52 GMT 1, Cartrain
I used to defend your antics on the forum. Figured you were trying to get your bearings in the art world. Plus you were having a fair crack at it. You took risks a lot of other "artists" on the forum were not willing to take. But recently, your antics have left me with a sour taste in my mouth. You shouldn't need to rely on half-assed publicity stunts. You're in a place now where you can and should let your artwork and talent speak for itself.
Take it from me. I work in PR. These stunts are becoming a little too transparent. Focus on the art. You'll get there. You have a bunch of people in your corner.

The Underbelly Project - New York, by BK83 on Nov 1, 2010 16:26:52 GMT 1, MUST READ!
Street Art Way Below the Street By Jasper Rees October 31, 2010
A vast new exhibition space opened in New York City this summer, with a show 18 months in the making. On view are works by 103 street artists from around the world, mostly big murals painted directly onto the galleryโs walls.
It is one of the largest shows of such pieces ever mounted in one place, and many of the contributors are significant figures in both the street-art world and the commercial trade that now revolves around it. Its debut might have been expected to draw critics, art dealers and auction-house representatives, not to mention hordes of young fans. But none of them were invited.
In the weeks since, almost no one has seen the show. The gallery, whose existence has been a closely guarded secret, closed on the same night it opened.
