Damaged prints, by natstan on Nov 9, 2015 13:43:34 GMT 1, If it doesn't even affect the image, I would just trim out the damage as much as possible and get it framed.

SNIK WHAT YOUR SOUL SINGS PRINT RELEASE, by natstan on Nov 9, 2015 3:27:53 GMT 1, Not one for stepping into online discussions, half the time they just aimed at being insulting without repurcussions, but in regards to the edition size, choices etc, i feel i can speak here. The reason for the amount of variants, colours & backgrounds etc, is MY choice. I like the fact that the plain black version has a more intense feeling, but the distressed backgrounds on the variants gives a softer feeling, but with a nice aesthetic. There isnt an agenda here to create a ton of cash, we (snik) just want to produce really nice prints at the highest quality, and an affordable price (in our opinion). The reason that maybe you see GP do alot of variants etc, is because he gives the artists total control. There has never ever been a time GP has told me to produce more prints than i want, or colour variants, its totally up the artists. This approach is the main reason we enjoy to work with, and release, with GP. As an artists in this game, there is alot of pressures from galleries and publishers etc to release, its a very complex process, especially for artists who are new to it etc. To be given free reign is a great thing when it comes to producing the print, an artist can go as crazy as they want, which personally is one of the main reasons to be an artist, freedom. I totally understand that people see this differently, and thats fine, its their opinion. Thanks for all the kind words about the print.
If that's your artistic vision, all points noted and accepted then

SNIK WHAT YOUR SOUL SINGS PRINT RELEASE, by natstan on Nov 8, 2015 15:59:36 GMT 1, Not being cynical. While I can understand the appeal of Snik's works to some, I just felt that, other than the 'standard' hand finished ed, the rest with the 'additional' touches just smells of decoration at best. What does those additional finishes really bring to the content? Nothing - none of those look good with it but that's probably just me.
I notice this happens to GP's print release quite a number of times. Maybe I just didn't like how it appears so commercialised (and I don't see too many publishers or galleries doing that but I might not know better). I'm not targetting GP but it just appears to be the only gallery doing that very frequently unfortunately. No offence really.
I understand efforts and labour ought to be compensated fairly, but if one had saved the effort on just a smaller number of quality edition, without all those unnecessary frillies, who's complaining, really? They still get their money - but maybe lesser.

Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by natstan on Nov 6, 2015 16:10:29 GMT 1, No, a cancellation is not possible. The E-Mail with the order confirmation makes the purchase contract valid (check Lazarides Terms & Conditions point 3.6 - they say it themselves: ย "3.6 If we accept your order we will confirm our acceptance by sending you a separate confirmation email ("Order Confirmation"). The Contract between us will only be formed when we send you the Order Confirmation." ย ย ), and suspicions of possible eBay resells are no reason at all to cancel the purchase contract by seller side. Friend of mine had the same case with another gallery, they had to pay a compensation and hand him the ordered print.ย I think they will get some legal trouble if the go for that.
That's what I thought too. The moment the buyer makes payment and gets a confirmation, the contract is formed. The buyer has every right to do anything with the print from that point onwards isn't it?

Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by natstan on Nov 5, 2015 19:01:31 GMT 1, Both editions are now sold out. Many thanks to all who purchased, and sincere apologies to those who missed out. One final note: Lazarides Editions and our artist's create and price our print editions to provide fans of the artistโs an affordable alternative to purchasing more expensive original works to hang on their walls. We cancelled the orders placed by today's eBay sellers earlier and put the editions back up for sale online, we very much hope that this time they've gone to better homes.
Just wondering how you traced the identities of the culprits...

It's a real bad print job judging from the photos. One of the highlights in Medhi's works is the contrast of the different elements and dark shadows, but this just seems like a faded print left under the light for a bit too long.

Upcoming Faile release, by natstan on Oct 22, 2015 13:26:32 GMT 1, Just wondering for those who bought, are you really replacing bulbs to display the print in order to show the original intent of the artist? Not that it concerns me, but i always think of how people display art that were designed this way or similar, especially in a home setting.

Upcoming Faile release, by natstan on Oct 20, 2015 17:54:02 GMT 1, to be fair its not like a poster you get in a bus shelter quality. its on thick paper, thicker infact than their 150 series prints. because we all like thick paper. wonder what the tube will be like. I'm hoping round, I love FedEx labels too.
There will be caps on both ends, hopefully. :-)

Upcoming Faile release, by natstan on Oct 20, 2015 17:17:10 GMT 1, So it's a timed release. And it's not numbered. And could fall into an edition of thousands. And costs $125... Now that really reduce its desirability by much :-( Only if you suddenly don't like the image because other people might have it?
I like the image but i probably don't LOVE it enough to ignore the fact there could be thousands of this on the market. Especially not at that price. $75 maybe.

new Kunstrasen canvas coming soon..., by natstan on Oct 10, 2015 12:19:43 GMT 1, Hey guys, thanks for the feedback and criticism, appreciate that. Didn't expect the piece to be perceived that badly on here but certainly taking everything said into account for the future. You lost me though when people who never held a spray can in their hands in their entire life and struggle visually with perspectives start discussing about a thiness of a line. Was actually geeky enough to messure the diameter of the forearme (1,6cm) and of the line (0,3cm). Anyhow, guess that sort of stuff is a bit the dynamics of this place at times.
You win some, you lose some.

Quality of recent releases, by natstan on Oct 8, 2015 15:49:36 GMT 1, If we are talking within the confines of urban or street art, I do agree the recent releases have been a little underwhelming this past 1/2 year. Pejac's meadow and eelus's wtnfu are about the only ones I picked up during this period and imo, priced sensibly for the collectors. Angel 41's new one is nice too in terms of imagery.
The rest that were released lately prove to be just too same-old same-old (GP's releases today aren't helping) - from dolk to nick walker to roamcouch. Nothing that makes me want to part with my money, but that's just me.

Starting my collection, by natstan on Oct 2, 2015 4:22:24 GMT 1, We all start pretty much the same, buying stuff at 'eye level' - literally - in the beginning. It can be addictive to spend money on whatever catches your fancy and what many people hype up on here (sorry guys) as you would worry about missing out. I count myself lucky that I like - and still hang - every single piece that I have bought right from the start of this game.
Recently sold my very first urban art print - a chewbarber by eelus - to a fellow member here and thinking back, I did not even regret that purchase a bit even though I have gotten over images of that sort (and to be frank, his skills back then looks pretty raw but nevertheless has a certain vintage quality to it). I think one criteria I have for myself for buying art is to ask myself if I will ever regret buying it in the first place, like determining: is there enough space at home to hang, does the art and the artist speak to me, do i feel proud hanging the work on my walls?
Of course, we all spend loads of money on this game, so I also ask myself if the print is worth the money in the first place and whether I can at least sell it on secondary market to get my money back if not more should I tire of it (by making checks on the credentials and past works and transactions of the artist). And ultimately I also have to decide if I can make do living with the prints still if they do not sell in the future.
Instagram is one of the best platforms for getting to know the artist and his work process. I also get to find many more artists by checking links and tags made between their posts. If you are not on it, hop on!

Framing a print on very thin paper, by natstan on Sept 29, 2015 18:49:30 GMT 1, Mr Frameman did a very good job for me. He somehow sandwiched (without damaging it) the print between two bits of glass (Museum for front and regular for rear). The rear image does not have to be visible (as it bleeds into the front) so you can mount as you would regulary.
How did he attach the back of the print to the rear glass to prevent it from slipping?

Framing a print on very thin paper, by natstan on Sept 29, 2015 14:12:52 GMT 1, I have a non-conformist 'last supper' print which is on very thin receipt paper. Can anyone offer some advise on whether I can have them floated mounted using water activated japanese hinging paper? I am worried the hinges may show through the paper and worst, the water shrinks the paper at the hinging spots. This is a diy framing project, thanks.

Stik Sleeping Baby, by natstan on Sept 29, 2015 12:55:52 GMT 1, Thanks again for all the well wishes. I have given up on this print after seeing the crazy asking prices. Good luck to people still searching. Wow. I dont keep up with Stik as Im not too keen, so I had to check what these crazy prices were. I had no idea and said to myself, "REALLY?!!!". Outrageous. Hope someone helps you out man. Congrats!
That's some crazy money for a numbered edition, no matter how much emotion people say six strokes and a colored background brings on. Money big enough to buy some (or top up a bit more) for OGs. And to be fair, this is really one of the prints by the man which I personally like.
Great on the part of stik to selflessly contribute for a charitable cause but shame on these folks who really buy it with every intent to only sell it for as much money as they can possibly get (well within their prediction on how much premium these prints will command). Sometimes I wonder if karma really happens to these people.

Etam Cru ๐ต๐ฑ Sainer & Bezt โข Street Art โข Print Release , by natstan on Sept 28, 2015 8:22:15 GMT 1, Honestly, less than average doodles on wood. Agreed. I think for $420 US most are over priced. I love EtamCru, Bezt and Sainer together or apart. The only one I'd pay that money for is the ETAM Trailer. Hope the next batch is bigger and better. I mean really, what is this?
Probably should ask murakami how he made it with his cartoon-like works then.
