VALUATION • Art Valuation Advice, by rydal on Aug 31, 2018 22:19:24 GMT 1, Hey all,
Have a few pieces I am interested in selling but not really sure on current value. Any help would be really appreciated, thank you!
Ian Francis Giclee print (not sure of the title, either 'Couple' or 'In the End', does anyone know??)
Signed Limited edition of 25
Antony Micallef Angel Bomber 1 Signed Limited edition of 250
David Choe - City Girl (framed)
Signed Limited edition of 150
Eelus - Shat at (framed) Signed Limited edition of 200
The Ian Francis piece is called Deathstar. It is undoubtedly one of his finest.
A Death Star explodes, no, a Chinese satellite

DFace Hate, by rydal on Apr 9, 2011 18:01:55 GMT 1, Looking to sell this as it had been replaced with a blue one which goes better with the overall colour scheme of the room. There is a tiny mark, about 3mm, in the gold section in the bottom of the H which I think has been there since new, you would have to be looking very closely to spot it. Other than that is in mint condition. Comes with original receipt from POW. Looking for £400. PM me if interested, happy to e-mail more pics on request.

DFace Hate, by rydal on Apr 2, 2011 22:52:50 GMT 1, I have a gold HATE which I would let go for £400. I think that's a fair price as the gold, silver and black editions are generally regarded as more desirable than the others. Mint condition and 50x50cm. If you are interested I will post some pics.

DFace • Dead Head Winston Churchill, by rydal on Oct 25, 2010 17:11:23 GMT 1, Thanks Sammo,
Realistically I am looking for the normal edition. The one at UA is £3,650 and whilst it looks great I'm not sure I can justify the premium over the edition of 10 version. I don't know how your price would compare, if you would like to let me know please feel free to drop me a PM. Cheers Rich

DFace • Dead Head Winston Churchill, by rydal on Oct 24, 2010 21:19:12 GMT 1, Thanks Wizbong, I had spotted that one actually and have already asked them to confirm the price, I'm waiting to hear back. Any ideas on what the going rate is these days? If I remember rightly they were 1,250 originally.

DFace • Dead Head Winston Churchill, by rydal on Oct 24, 2010 21:05:49 GMT 1, Hi, I'm after a dead head Winston Churchill or Queen Victoria but would consider any other sculptures/busts of about the same size.
If you have anything that you think may fit the bill then drop me a line. Looking for a cash purchase. Thanks

Banksy Exposed, by rydal on Jul 13, 2008 13:51:08 GMT 1, Wasn't it only a few weeks ago that the MoS featured an article written by a journalist who claimed to have actually met Banksy whilst he was preparing for the whole london street exhibit, surely it would have just been easier for them to ask him "is this the bloke you met?" rather than undertake a year of investigation!

Think its time for an Ian Francis Forum, by rydal on Apr 13, 2008 19:32:07 GMT 1, I was surprised to see a Pickachu sell for just 365GBP on the bay a couple of days ago. Shortly after release they were fetching at least 1,000! Still a class image and I'm sure his time will come.

Ebay Question, by rydal on Apr 8, 2008 14:25:05 GMT 1, If you are thinking of the usual protection you get under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, ie that the credit provider will be equally liable for any breach by the supplier, this will not apply where the card is used via paypal.

So what exactly is an "original"??, by rydal on Apr 8, 2008 13:48:49 GMT 1, To my mind at least, I don't really see any print as an original. I feel an original must be produced by the artist and not by printers, a print certainly can be a "one off" or a 1/1 but an original??

So what exactly is an "original"??, by rydal on Apr 8, 2008 13:17:32 GMT 1, I'm embarrassed to admit this but I'm still not really sure what constitutes "an original", the way I see it there are several types of work that could be regarded as an original?
(1) A true, one off piece, un-numbered produced by the artists own hand rather than a print. This is what I think of as an original.
(2) A print that is numbered 1/1. Although a one-off is this an original? Why the need to number it all? Can a print ever be an original? What about when it is rehashed by the artist as with the Dface collages?
(3) A run of say 20 canvasses that have each been individually produced by hand. Is each of these an original despite being part of a numbered edition??
Is there a right and wrong answer or is it a matter of indivual interpretation?
Just curious, all views welcomed. Cheers.
