GDP Banksy Rat, Thrower, Crisis As Usual, by Inknart on Dec 21, 2019 18:00:31 GMT 1, Iโm assuming the technique he outlines in GDP was the same used for these ... โThis is Banksyโs first experiment with a new technique for making prints - spray the stencil onto processing film and expose the result directly onto a silk screen.โ sounds like much more than a poster to me Most articles I have read tend to concentrate more on the quality of paper used, rather than the technique used. Prior to introduction of inkjet most posters would have been screen printed. Would you be happy purchasing a print from a gallery and the print arrived on this type of paper? I would say, you would probably send it back, saying its a poster not a print. Iโm not versed enough to comment , but Iโm sure someone with more experience can interject. I was just offering my opinion.
I guess whoever receives a rat clock or the flower thrower pieces will be quite disappointed in the results as theyโre the same as posters on different paper stock and cheap clocks.
just offering my opinion, but now moving on. Carry on members. Good discussion! And thank you everyone for not getting personal!

Banksy ยฃ10 โข Di-Faced Tenner, by Inknart on Dec 21, 2019 17:51:56 GMT 1, so... to all of you who gave $900 plus taxes and fees to X Y or Z gallery... you see now that you have been used to try and establish a market for 1mill tenners (aprox.)...and that the framing job is really what you paid for? please, please, learn from your mistakes in allowing these type of fuckery sales to be pushed onto the masses. I didnโt get one , but I disagree. Prior to the handful of these they were still selling for the about as much as these were framed with providence for the first time from laz private collection.
i doubt laz holds all 100k and they PC is in the bulk of possession. I think these were fantastic and priced very well framed.

GDP Banksy Rat, Thrower, Crisis As Usual, by Inknart on Dec 21, 2019 17:25:29 GMT 1, I googled prints vs posters and it's interesting to read others views on what the difference is. GDP Banksy Rat, Thrower, Crisis As Usual, by Inknart on Dec 21, 2019 16:57:20 GMT 1, Not posters imo, as the technique is different from an offset litho like soup cans which have many more hanging about that sell for more. So donโt think they can be easily reproduced. i canโt find a legitimate crisis either for anything under 600, so if you find one send them my way. ive also seen a screenshot of these from gdp from someone involved that had them broken out into edition numbers 1000 for the rat ect, so not sure If they will be cranking more out. Even saw a multi colored rat variation that didnโt get pushed through. this of course is my biased opinion. And even though I paid top dollar for mine, think theyโre much more than just a memento to me. pity you couldnt have got them as a memento. That is true, would have been amazing to have received something like this first hand for free. At that point they would have been considered a memento I suppose , but wouldnโt sway my opinion on what theyโre and are viewed as. Clearly the people who received them for free and sold them didnโt view them as a memento.

You're confusing the 'techniques being different' in order to try to justify the top dolla you paid to elevate them into something that doesn't exist. They are a memento ; given away free, to visitors (mainly kids, who had dad's drag them along late at night to flip), for the time - limited installation. Not sold and will not be available anywhere else, they are something to remember the event by. That would be the equivalent to saying that even if they were signed and numbered and given away , they would still be a โmemento.โ I find the fact that something was given away for free that it discredits the validity of the piece in general and can be discarded as not legitimate and only a free giveaway memento. I could care more or less if they go up or down, but for the sake of argument donโt think theyโre as invaluable or in-special as youโre highlighting them to be.

GDP Banksy Rat, Thrower, Crisis As Usual, by Inknart on Dec 21, 2019 16:44:02 GMT 1, As with most things here, it's not unusual to see bias. People who have these are saying they're prints. I have one, and they are not prints, just posters. There are plenty of silkscreen and lithographed posters in the olden days, the lack of text doesn't make them special. These will not 'find their way into collections' (lol). Cheap paper, no pc, easily reproduced, prices dropping all the time. Enjoy them for what they are, a free memento. Not posters imo, as the technique is different from an offset litho like soup cans which have many more hanging about that sell for more.

GDP Banksy Rat, Thrower, Crisis As Usual, by Inknart on Dec 21, 2019 15:47:59 GMT 1, I don't think there is a real answer to whether these are prints or posters. I would say they are a bit of both (if that's possible). A 'Poster' wouldn't normally be screen printed, but a 'Print' wouldn't normally be printed onto such a bad quality paper. So moving forward these gdp giveaways will be referred to as 'prosters'. I think itโs more about the technique than the medium itโs applied to, whether skateboard, acrylic, wood, cardboard, recycled paper ect

GDP Banksy Rat, Thrower, Crisis As Usual, by Inknart on Dec 21, 2019 5:21:38 GMT 1, In the older prints flower thrower always costs a lot more than any rat though For the older collectors yes, but this project is bringing new collectors into the mix , younger generation , more familiar with the rat prints and rat street pieces which there are more of and more popular hence if your not familiar with the flower thrower the rats seem more appealing and more of an association with banksy , still early days , once the gdp prints drop prices will adjust..rats were ยฃ100-150 when first came out , just the OCD guys that want all the prints pushing prices up at the moment will settle and reverse by next year. the prices these are going for makes the soon to be ceased boxsets seem great value, which when first came out were described as official banksy product I actually find these much more special then the other posters that sell for more. I think these will continue to rise in value and find good homes becoming hard to find as time goes on.

Banksy HMV Print, by Inknart on Dec 20, 2019 22:48:40 GMT 1, I think it would be crazy to think prices are not on the rise. I feel like the market is currently just at an unknown state, where owners and galleries are hesitant to sell for less and it's pushing pricing up based on results of auctions while pieces find there new fair market values. That being said, he seems to be continuing to gain momentum while picking up new collectors with every new spectacle. It's been a fun year. Can't wait to see him continue to inspire and surprise fans and collectors around the world. im sure collectors, particularly those looking to add to their collection are really excited about rising prices.... It's not like he didn't offer affordable pieces like the mat, which because unlimited were passed over. I picked up 2 prints earlier this year, and in addition have gotten two GDP rats, a GDP thrower, and a Mat. Plenty of reasonable legitimate pieces around for new collectors. Even the Tenner's offered with Authentication from Laz were around for awhile.
That would be like comparing peoples disappointment to discovering older artists and pieces being out of reach as they continue to rise due to the availability of their works.
Banksy still releases legitimate items, even has items from The Walled Off. Plenty of pieces to be had. Prints that continue to rise that are 10+ Years Old seems completely understandable. At least he makes an effort to place new prints at cost into collectors hands in a fair fashion.

GDP Banksy Rat, Thrower, Crisis As Usual, by Inknart on Dec 20, 2019 16:52:55 GMT 1, Next time banksy when youโre giving out a freebie to kids as a reminder of a nice day out, could you please consider the greedy fรปcking parents that expect far more from a freebie. I got these on secondary market and these are only posters. All 3 of them have been paid for and collected now. Sorry, but you got them on secondary market, and you're saying they are posters?
They're def not posters, you may have gotten fakes and then have passed them onto some unsuspecting buyer.
I have 2 rats and a thrower, you can easily identify they're in fact hand screened prints on a specific paper. I think if you had a real vs fake next to each other, it would be very easy to identify fake vs real. they actually have quite a bit of detail, raised paint, bleed to back, a unique feel ect.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Inknart on Dec 19, 2019 20:51:30 GMT 1, Iโm sure Banksy / PC could have fronted the production costs. On the prints and other stuff too. But maybe he didnโt want any dealing with the money for the mats This kind of assumes that there was a long lead time between (for example) contact>concept>prototype>release.ย For all we know, there was very little time between first contact and the green light in an attempt to prevent the chance of information leakage.ย Again, it's all just speculation. I'm really looking forward to receiving mine, but am more than happy to wait as long as it takes.ย I'm sure those who have anxious buyers on eBay bugging them for shipping info may not be as patient...
Even if theyโre impatient , it will either end up being unlimited and buyer will cancel or special or limited and the seller will cancel. Speculation on this is certainly key as nobody really knows what to expect.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Inknart on Dec 19, 2019 16:47:33 GMT 1, Update from Abi: Dear friends, We are very excited to let you know that the production of the Banksy x Love Welcomes mats is going well. The women we support in the refugee camps in Greece have now been fully trained and production is underway. This is a remarkable achievement as working in the camp is very challenging for all involved. This week I visited the work to ensure everything is on track and one of the women said to me โWe feel so proud to be working on this project and we just want to say thank you to everyone who has bought a mat. I love this work and it gives me a daily routine in the camp and support for my familyโ. We now expect the mats to be completed and shipped early 2020 and we look forward to you receiving such a special item. Thanks for all your support. Abi at Love Welcomes I don't mind waiting at all, but it's surprising they hadn't already started production before putting them for sale. Had to wait for those GDP Labels

Pejac โข H2O Print, by Inknart on Dec 18, 2019 16:10:08 GMT 1, Yep agreed. It's always been an outlier. My point was more the fact the inflated prices we were seeing a year ago seem to be correcting themselves so any secondary buyers with some patience will be able to pick this up at a much cheaper price than Legrandduc is allegedly flipping his for. Certainly in 6 months time when the Coa's get issued, everyone will be trying to shift these on. How many of his previous editions were hand finished ? Outside of Special Editions?

Agree! Located in US and Mark at PFG now does all my framing. Honest and top quality.

Pejac โข H2O Print, by Inknart on Dec 12, 2019 17:50:46 GMT 1, I've talked with multiple people who didn't sign up for the lottery that were VIP's offered standard editions. What a hoax.

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Productโข, by Inknart on Dec 12, 2019 0:33:34 GMT 1, Signed, classic Banksy, inspired by Basquiat. On board. 50K+. This is not a classic Banksy, it's a relatively new image. Also not inspired by Basquiat, but rather a play on some of his imagery. Your estimate is too high This is an instant classic to me. No doubt it will be up on the higher end of signed editions.

Pejac โข H2O Print, by Inknart on Dec 11, 2019 16:38:46 GMT 1, I know I'll get a lot of crap for suggesting this but here it goes. If you run a BUY IN lottery for a valuable prize and state that there are 100 of them isn't it unethical to give away like 10 or 20 to people you know and therefore only make 80 available. In America this could be considered Fraud. Just posing the question. I'm not complaining. You know, if he allocated 100 to VIPS then thats definitely Fraud and a fake lottery so where would the line be you think? I don't consider myself the type to raise a stink about the small stuff, but I'm going to agree with you on this one. If 100 prints aren't actually available, they should have been clear about how many actually are. I'm not complaining either, I have others**t to worry about, but it does seem disingenuous to state that there are 100 available when the actual number is (speculated) half that. I said it earlier as well in the thread that I agree 100%. Asking someone to donate into something, charity or not for something that states 100 are available and then allocating them to friends and vips is fraud.
From everything i've heard about Pejac and Max and the way they handle business, i'm guessing this is likely the case, unfortunately.
I really don't think Pejac cares very much about his fan base. I've reached out for 4 years now , with basic inquiries just about shows ect and have never gotten a response. Wanted to plan a trip to NYC and have tried getting dates from him. Guess i'll just write that off. Clearly not worth his time or my money.
It sucks, because I've been in sustainability for 10+ Years, and his work really speaks to me, but i'm not going to spend 4k on a print on secondary. Heavy Sea still my favorite.
