Charlotte Keates 🇬🇧 Painting • Print Release • For Sale, by mrizzle on Jan 8, 2021 1:53:46 GMT 1, Great to see Charlotte mentioned on here. I've followed her from the early days and have a few lovely pieces by her, including a great original. she's a great artist to deal with and Arusha gallery are very good.
That’s a cracker. Love her work and have toyed with buying a piece for a while. I think I will have to scratch the itch because I keep coming back to her work.

Pejac • Ahab Print, by mrizzle on Jan 7, 2021 23:48:28 GMT 1, I’ve blurred out their username because I can’t recall whether or not their account was private but someone I follow on Instagram won the lottery and purchased. Read the comment below RE the paper for scale! He must have been atop a ladder to get a photo!! Also, the seam is very visible in the final pieces it would appear. wait, is this two pieces or one? The line goes through the border as well and looks uneven as if two? But you're supposed to frame it together?
It’s two pieces stuck together. If you look at the video below then you’ll see better and, yes, it’s intended to be one piece and framed accordingly.

Pejac • Ahab Print, by mrizzle on Jan 7, 2021 23:35:04 GMT 1, I thought it was interesting to see a print that someone has actually received. How do you get something that large even framed or back to you? Also...sod hanging that myself. Really interest to see what this chap does with regards the framing and hanging of it. Will share in the future if I see anything.

Donald Trump, by mrizzle on Jan 6, 2021 22:55:25 GMT 1,
I was initially quite amused at Gerard Butler trending on Twitter because ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ but was confused as to why Jamiroquai was trending under politics. However I was not disappointed by why...

Really helpful Poster Bob and much appreciated reply. Thank you.

Paul Insect • The Reflection, Observer , by mrizzle on Jan 6, 2021 20:40:56 GMT 1, Pretty sure you pay 9% vat if in UK
I’m hoping someone more knowledgable than me can clarify this. I’ve skim read the associated .gov page and I’m still not entirely certain how this all works and what fees and duty needs applied. I would have anticipated it just being the same as it was for importing from outside of the U.K. and, with this not being an “original” piece of art, not having the reduced fee. I could be totally wrong though!

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by mrizzle on Jan 5, 2021 13:03:39 GMT 1, What music are you listening to right now I joined in 2010, learned a few things first 5 years. Last 5 years very jump the shark here, older members often quiet if they haven’t left altogether. That said, I picked up something in 2020 I wouldn’t have heard of elsewhere while having a good laugh over the Thierry Noir run up.
I’ve just learned what the idiom “jump the shark” means. That’s currently my biggest take away from this thread.

Jeremy Geddes upcoming sculptures , by mrizzle on Jan 5, 2021 8:07:30 GMT 1, Revisions have been made to this and further information now available. Still think they should have reconsidered how they’ve connected the feet to the base as that still looks poor in my humble opinion:

Invader Djerba Map , by mrizzle on Jan 4, 2021 17:05:11 GMT 1, Itinérance are incompetent. Just look at that utter farce that was the Hush release last year as just one example of how absolutely useless they are. This will be a complete shambles. I find it astonishing that any artist would use them to release anything!

Banksy Welcome Mat, by mrizzle on Jan 4, 2021 1:04:04 GMT 1, Actually I was wrong. The only one recessed in the floor isn’t “framed” as such. I really like the idea but, being utterly woeful at DIY, not something I’d want to attempt and I would imagine it would be expensive to get someone to do?
Here’s the example I was thinking of. As I say though, not what you are suggesting really and, in my humble opinion, it’s not very well executed in this example. Needs to be much cleaner for it to work.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by mrizzle on Jan 2, 2021 8:33:24 GMT 1, Shit that was so dope. Fuck I only caught the last 10mins...Is there a way to watch it from the beginning? The whole thing is available now. Although I'm not getting sound until 24 minutes in. m.twitch.tv/videos/857880200If you are not familiar with Yoda, it's well worth checking out the other mixes, he's also produced an excellent series of albums called How to Cut and Paste. All available on YouTube, soundcloud etc.
The How to Cut and Paste albums are excellent. Seen him live a couple of times a number of years back. Series one is on his YouTube channel and will link below but if you can find the 80s one then that’s also very entertaining. I’ll see if it’s also on his channel and link below if so.
*Edit - it is. I’ve not listened to this on years but it’s tremendous.

DFace • Turn Coat Print, by mrizzle on Jan 1, 2021 20:21:27 GMT 1, What did price on this get to? It got pulled, I was the high bidder at around £660 I think.
Yeah, I was set to bid towards the close of the auction but the seller decided to end it early for some reason. Not sure what the final selling price was but the figure above was about right last I checked on it.

Banksy + Clown Skateboards, by mrizzle on Dec 31, 2020 6:19:49 GMT 1, Jimmy and Dre have bought in Scooter Braun and Martin shkreli”s outbid them in the vip only auction , cheeky bid in the last 5 secs!
Isn’t the latter still in a federal penitentiary?! Pity the judge didn’t order the seizure and release of ‘Once Upon a Time in Shaolin’.

New Futura book (signed) , by mrizzle on Dec 31, 2020 6:11:29 GMT 1, Not in love with the one I got. I have decided to return it. I’ll let it go at cost if anyone here wants it. Local meetups only San Diego CA. Corners are slightly damaged from shipping. ibb.co/1J3HRgBSo I left a comment on Futuras IG and voiced my dissapointment on how mine came out. He dmd me and offered a full refund at his expense and not the seller, Rizzoli. Asked me to send the clamshell back to him and to keep the book as a gift. He also offered to send a signed copy of his exhibition catalog. Such a stand up guy.
Well that’s a seriously impressive response by the guy. He’s a living legend and it’s quite saddening to see how this has all turned out. It seems to have gone from one bad turn to the next. Really sorry to see these now also landing damaged. A pretty decent final outcome here but it should never have come to this.

Nick Smith 🇬🇧 Pixelated Art • Colour Swatches • New Print, by mrizzle on Dec 29, 2020 13:06:52 GMT 1, I have a girl with a pink earring print - wondering what it might be worth?
Love this print and one that I would like to add to the collection at some stage. Not too sure on current value to be honest but a cracking print. However, the framing looks pretty iffy to me and that would give me some reservations if I was a potential buyer. It also looks like the print is behind one of the clips to secure the backing which, if I’m right, you really need to sort asap to try and limit potential damage to the print.

Really like that too. An excellent pick up!! Your framing idea sounds spot on too I think.

Martin Whatson • The Stag Print, by mrizzle on Dec 27, 2020 21:44:58 GMT 1, I still very much want this print. I think the regular variant is actually nicer than the hand finished on this occasion. I can blow hot and cold towards MW’s work but this one really hit a note with me. That said, I simply cannot justify paying the secondary markups for it. Just couldn’t get payment processed fast enough throughout the three hours of trying.

Best of 2020!, by mrizzle on Dec 27, 2020 17:29:19 GMT 1, I really feel like there’s been some fantastic releases this year. I appreciate that I’m not necessarily buying at the more premium end of the print market terribly often but I think there’s been some fantastic releases this year by Harland Miller, Fredrich Kunath, Paul Kremer, Nick Smith (the Pioneers show was one of the best shows of the year in my eyes), the Clown test press boards, Fin DAC and a number of others released some pretty great pieces too.
Personally, I’ve picked up quite a few pieces that have immediately made the wall and by a number of my favourite artists. I’ve picked up a ‘Welcome Mat’, a couple of pieces by Nick Smith (American Gothic and The Simpsons - I actually have a third currently purchased but currently stuck slightly in limbo courtesy of current ongoing restrictions - will explain in the fullness of time), a couple of pieces by Fin DAC (Sonyeo and Sansho), Nuno Viegas (Glove X Golden Crown), Mr Jago (Adam), my hand sprayed Mighty Mo boxed set from BSMT Space (which really are cool and so happy with the lucky dip selection I received), Ardif’s Octopus Atlantic variant Mechanimal (which is really wonderful in the flesh), 2 original pieces by Jameson Robinson (which I find incredibly charming - ‘Thought After Filthy Thought’ and my commissioned ‘Penguin with Red Balloon’ for my son). I am also really really pleased with my Dylan Martinez pumpkin trio glass sculptures.
In a world that’s been thoroughly upside down, I think it’s been a pretty solid year and I managed to pick up a number of pieces by some of my favourite artists. Yes, perhaps there’s been less ‘premium’ big releases but a good year nonetheless and I can’t pick one favourite out of those mentioned above. In many ways, with a new (baby human) arrival due in early Jan and wall space running at a premium, I’ll be having a quiet 2021 on the art front so it’ll need to be something pretty special for me to pull the trigger I think. Excited to see what lies ahead nonetheless.
