Shipping Art • UK, USA, Asia, Europe, by lacklisted on Mar 26, 2019 19:26:50 GMT 1, Having been to the Warhol exhibition in NY and pondering how the huge Chairman Mao canvas got to the Whitney - I found this article interesting. We often talk about Flight Logistics here - but this is another level. Shipping museum-grade art is a specialist business: only a handful of top-flight firms, among them the London-based Momart and Constantine, are trusted by major institutions. Even so, most museums also insist that art on loan travels at all times with a courier, ideally a conservator. This is known as “nail to nail”: one person stays with one work from the moment it is taken down in Room 38A of the V&A to the moment it goes on to the wall in a museum in Shanghai 5,700 miles away. Unless physically impossible, they need to stick with the artefact – or at least the crate it is travelling in – every step of the way.www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2019/mar/21/how-to-move-a-masterpiece-secret-business-shipping-priceless-artworks-art-handling great post and interesting read.

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by lacklisted on Mar 9, 2019 12:31:55 GMT 1, Got in touch with the Gallery. They have as well two prints: Funeral and Headquarters. I asked infos about Headquarters. There’s a crucial aspect. The print they have wears no embossed logos (POW with numbers and Blu with signature). What is it? A Blu print (or any other print) that bears no official authenticity marks fall into the back door print category doesn't it ?...did they state a price for either of the prints ?

Help Refugees UK - Need 3000 Sleeping Bags, by lacklisted on Feb 15, 2019 21:11:56 GMT 1, @blanksky Really dude? You're living in a country that exploited and destroyed the cultures, resources and livelihoods of billions of people on this planet for centuries and you think a few thousand people in need coming for help during times of difficulties are the enemy? There's a few billion people in Africa living in poverty, which under your definition could all qualify as being 'in need'. Not a few thousand. If you import a few billion people into the few western societies that made it to being a welfare state, there are no more welfare states, just a giant social underclass with no skills and no people or money to care of them. Also, to 'a country that exploited and destroyed the cultures blahblah'. Please don't hold people living now responsible for the supposed crimes of their ancestors. I don't own slaves and you are not working on a plantation. Also try having some gratitude for people evolving morally, instead of telling everyone that white people are all bad because of things that happend in the past. fact is people from SYRIA, IRAQ, LIBIYA make up a large percentage of refugees coming to the UK. We (UK) had a hand in the destruction of their countries.... no doubt your blah blah attitude won't get beyond the other fact that you're ignorant to facts and morally bankrupt.

Help Refugees UK - Need 3000 Sleeping Bags, by lacklisted on Feb 15, 2019 19:37:02 GMT 1, Question. Why are they in calais, why not seek asylum in the first safe country they manage to occupy. Don't get hot headed, it is a valid question. If France thought they were valid or if they applied in France im sure they would be put into better conditions. Maybe encourage or help with that instead as it is longer term rather than a blanket maybe they are english speakers, maybe they have families or friends here or a solid community here in the uk. Maybe they just want to come to the uk to work and better their lives which have mostly been laid to waste by the UKs foreign policy and bombs.

Help Refugees UK - Need 3000 Sleeping Bags, by lacklisted on Feb 15, 2019 19:00:31 GMT 1,
Not been posted, but thought some would be interested in this
Our stock of sleeping bags and blankets for Calais & Dunkirk is running desperately low, and right now we’re unable to keep up with demand. In the next 15 days, we need your help to collect 3,000 sleeping bags and 5,000 blankets.
Thanks to incredible public support in December, we’ve been able to distribute bedding every week of winter so far. But with over 100 evictions last month, people are once again being left in the cold with nothing to protect themselves. Our stocks are running low, and we need help to make sure anyone sleeping rough in Northern France, at the very least, has a blanket or sleeping bag to keep them warm at night.
What can you do to help?
On 27th February, we’re sending a truck to all the drop offs in London to pick up donated sleeping bags and blankets. For the rest of the UK, all donations will be picked up in the coming weeks!
So if you have any spares (or would like to organise a collection), please please please send to your local donation drop-off point before the end of the month!
A sleeping bag isn’t a bed. It’s not enough. But in the freezing cold of night, it can be the key to preventing hypothermia. Find out any and everything you’ll need to know about organising a donation in our information pack.
Where is my local drop-off?
PLEASE NOTE: If your local drop-off is an Emmaus location – please make sure to label your donation “HELP REFUGEES – CALAIS”
If you have any questions at all, feel free to contact us at calaisdonations@helprefugees.org. Thank you so much for your continued support – we love you!
If you don’t have a sleeping bag or blanket, but would still like to help, you can donate to our fundraiser for Northern France, and we’ll buy the most-needed items from local businesses.
Great endeavour, tipping my hat to all the grafters involved. I'll definitely be donating.

Help Refugees UK - Need 3000 Sleeping Bags, by lacklisted on Feb 15, 2019 18:57:04 GMT 1, I have a question: Why aren't you dedicating your efforts to helping homeless people living on the street in European countries, instead of giving freebies to economic migrants that have traveled through ~10 safe countries only to get to a social welfare state, that are harrassing truckdrivers on a daily basis and are imposing an enormous burden on the local citizens of Dunkirk and Calais? what a Knob you are.

Paul Insect Rojava Poster, by lacklisted on Feb 8, 2019 19:16:10 GMT 1, Hi all,
There are two framed and never folded Paul Insect front and rear cover poster images for sale at £60 each direct from: Flaxon Ptootch, 237 Kentish Town Road London NW5 2JT
The framed posters can only be purchased and collected directly from the shop (address above).
These #RiseUp4Rojava posters form the front and back cover of DOPE 3 Magazine who had their one year anniversary at Flaxton Pooch yesterday and are now up for for sale.
The covers have never been folded, unlike the DOPE magazines that were sent out to buyers via the post and folded into envelopes.
Additionally the same #RiseUp4Rojava images were made into 4ft x 6ft posters and installed into bus stop ad spaces across London last year as an intervention by Londons very own Special Patrol Group of Subvertisers.

Political Graffiti/Street Artists, by lacklisted on Jan 17, 2019 15:38:35 GMT 1, If interested in poilitical art, the series of books “the Art of Rebellion” by Christian Hundertmark is a good place to start. I also enjoyed “Subvertising” by Hogre. Agree, Hogre he's special. His 2017 work in Rome and subsequant exhibition in London's War Gallery was brilliant.

John Jones Framers, by lacklisted on Jan 16, 2019 17:36:59 GMT 1, Sad to have just read this message from the best framers I've ever used.... i'll miss them.
Dear All,
It is with deepest regret to announce that after 40 years in business, John Jones Art Centre Ltd is ceasing trade on February 14th 2019.
I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have been loyal to us over the years- it has been a real pleasure working with you and an honor to frame your wonderful artworks!
Hopefully, there will be an opportunity in the future when we can work together again.
Best wishes,
Stefanie
A message from the Jones Family
As many of our clients know, John Jones is a family business, started over 40 years ago by my pioneering father. I joined the business in 1986 at 16, my brother Kristian a year later at 15. Our sister Kelly joined us a few years after and for the last 34 years we have given everything we have to the business – literally blood, sweat and tears. Whilst it’s been incredible, it’s also been very challenging – running a business in the UK is not easy and in the art world even more so. Closing John Jones has been the hardest decision of all, but we feel strongly that now is the right time for us to take a much needed break and put our own families first.
I am immensely proud that we have pushed the limits in framing, defined the standards in the UK, set ourselves as the ambassadors and market leaders of our industry. The art world is a challenging place, but we’ve strived to raise the focus on not only presenting but also protecting art and ensuring its longevity for generations to come.
We’re grateful to our loyal client base who has given us so many wonderful memories. From young artists at the start of their careers, to some of the biggest names in art; we’ve framed for royalty, for rock stars, A-list actors, world leaders and captains of industry. We’ve framed masterpieces, modern art, contemporary work, magna cartas, posters, family photos, football shirts, kimonos, guitar collections, children’s drawings… this list goes on. I can promise you, we’ve given every single work the same focused attention and care, right down to the beautiful piece of embroidery that an old lady from Finsbury Park brought in. We’ve been on an incredible journey and met some truly wonderful personalities.
We’ve built a first class team of dedicated experts over the years, from frame designers and art conservators to metal welders, gilders and joiners – our manufacturing and art teams really are outstanding. I’ve always been so proud to give clients tours of our workshops and show off our staff at work. It’s been rewarding to see so many go on to pursue their own artist careers or set up businesses within the art world that we continue to work with on a freelance basis. We’ve also built strong working relationships with other art professionals who keep the art world moving - curators, consultants, auction houses, museums, shippers, storage, installers, lighting experts, photographers, printers, suppliers, not to forget art colleges. We all play a part.
Our passion has always been the art. It really has been a lifelong effort and I’m proud to say that I firmly believe we leave the art world in a much better state than when we first started.
Matt, Kristian and Kelly
