Martin Whatson - Son of Man - AP, by Jaylove on Dec 24, 2017 3:24:05 GMT 1, I wouldn’t pay more than $100 or so, the chinook hearts from awhile back that were unsigned are the closest comparison and that’s about all they go for. Agreed. Prices I've seen on Ebay are utterly ridiculous.

Martin Whatson Print, Canvas, WANTED, by Jaylove on Dec 23, 2017 17:38:45 GMT 1, Looking for Whatson Tiger print regular edition. My fiance loves it (which is a rarety...she dislikes most of my prints). Not interested in flip price, I can go to ebay for that. I can pay above retail just not ridiculous. I'm someone who will frame it ad put it on my wall.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by Jaylove on Dec 23, 2017 15:17:40 GMT 1, I don't get it either. Why can't people sell what they want when they want at market price? Yes, I missed the boat on the soup cans, but it is still within reach price wise. Buy it if you want to pay £400 for it or move on. And why doesn't the guy who had tucked away Jack & Jill away for a decade and made £10k gets any heat? Clearly he had plenty of time to figure out if he wanted to frame it or not. But all people like him gets is "GLWTS" & "Beautiful picture" Flipping is making money out of another person’s artistic endeavour. Those that dislike it usually do not suggest the owner can’t sell what they own, merely that out of respect to the community the flipper should take it to Ebay, rather than flaunt their flip in front of those on here that missed out. This is my opinion. It has been the general concesus on this forum for the decade I’ve been here, though I concede less so these days. More recently it seems that less members share this view, and it is quite possible that flipping will become perfectly acceptable here. If that is the general opinion, so be it. Give it a bit more time and flipping on release day will be accepted here. It is inevitable as more people get into the game. I don't mind paying a bit extra on something I missed out on but 3 to 4x+ a week later is ridiculous.
How can we even determine real market value when the value is being artificially propped up by a small group of people? Galleries buy here then flip on their sites or eBay for much more. Rarely are they selling to actual fans. They're selling to other people that are trying to make an investment. IMO fans don't really care all too much about the investment. Just my 2 cents

UAA Exclusive "Drop" Thread , by Jaylove on Dec 23, 2017 13:19:55 GMT 1, Where are you both getting this information from? I can see no indications of stock levels on the site, and it happily allowed me to cart a couple of the 8 euro Calders just now. Seems like they keep putting more up. It was sold out previously, then I went back and was able to cart.

Parra Sliding Doors Print, by Jaylove on Dec 19, 2017 14:56:00 GMT 1, Yup. I used to be into trainers 10+ years ago and the art game is very similar. People were size 8 feet buying size 12 JUST to flip. Lining up 2 days early, etc. Just a mess. I got out of it some years ago though but rlook where I ended up? The sneaker manufacturers knew the popularity though and made limited runs which boosted the exclusivity and the hype. Jordan Brand who would come out re-release a retro once every 5 years or so started re-releasing them much more frequently and with larger runs. That actually slowed down a lot of hype. But the really exclusive collabos like Kanye's, Nike x Off White are flip drops. Most are buying to flip. Was a cool hobby but got ruined I was the same, I got out and flogged my trainer collection once you had to start queuing for SB Dunks. I'm going to pick up a Parra soon, maybe they will be under costs after Xmas when the bills start to bite
Yea when I had to start lining up for basic shoes that would sit on clearance racks for months, I got out. Sold about 85% if my collection. SBs were very easy to sell.
Back on topic, if the art doesn’t sell out instantly, it’s not flip able. Would you agree?

Parra Sliding Doors Print, by Jaylove on Dec 19, 2017 13:21:38 GMT 1, Looking at those trainers, the trainer game is completely ruined by flippers. I’d estimate 80% of big trainer launches - Yeezys and those Nike x Off White are bought to flip. It’s infuriating Yup. I used to be into trainers 10+ years ago and the art game is very similar. Parra Sliding Doors Print, by Jaylove on Dec 19, 2017 3:09:38 GMT 1, What about the Gee Vaucher you were trying to sell some days ago? The parra sliding doors was obviously bought to flip, but then you realized it's not selling so well. No shame. Apart from purpleandred, did anyone buy the parra to keep by choice and not because they couldn't flip it? You have to think a large percentage of people who buy nowadays are flipping. That's just the nature of the game these days.

NEW Shepard Fairey Print Release, by Jaylove on Dec 16, 2017 13:35:24 GMT 1, Yep had to pay duty that was half the price I paid for the print which was ridiculous. On top of that it was damaged so thru sent out a new one which I didn't have to pay duty on but they didn't courier it either. I woulda taken the slower shipping originally if it meant I didn't have to pay duty.
So expect to pay that duty when you buy from Obey.

Eine Drop, by Jaylove on Dec 14, 2017 16:26:27 GMT 1, How do you put out the Amsterdam print at such a r also able price and then put this out (inferior) at 2-3 times the price? This is just gouging and I say that as a huge fan. Will buy on secondary market below cost.

Graffitiprints mini vault sale, by Jaylove on Dec 13, 2017 1:16:55 GMT 1, how does GP manage to have a few of these "sales" on sold out prints? I'm still of the opinion than they don't always sell out. Like they hold some back. This is a hunch and I have no proof so don't come down on me. for the millionth time ... it is fairly common practice for all galleries / publishers / etc to hold some back ... especially for replacements or future shows. as for the ones that went up (like MW tiger), a few of them were PPs, APs, etc. Sure, but I saw something that lends me to believe that some galleries hold back a lot. I have no dog in this race...just going by what I have seen.

Gee Vaucher 🇬🇧 Crass • Punk • Print Release , by Jaylove on Dec 12, 2017 17:27:14 GMT 1, Cant believe how agressive members can be. He owns the piece doesn't he? Also getting kind of tired of the whole sell for cost thing. I would never expect someone to sell me there recent invaders, banksy or pejacs for cost, yet I am still always willing to pay market for something I want. In the end, the market will adjust itself to price a piece is worth. It's really at the sellers discretion as to what they're willing to let it go for in the end whether it be high, low, or even at cost. I have plenty of great pieces for sale below cost which I'm willing to part with as such, however other pieces like my Paul Insect i'am not. Everyone wants to buy at cost but won't sell at cost. I have no issue with people selling at market value. It's people selling way over that or those trying to create an inflated market that I have an issue with. I was selling my Weiwei for at market or less and people had a cow about it.

Ai Weiwei Odyssey Print, by Jaylove on Dec 10, 2017 13:34:55 GMT 1, Got my customs bill today. £31.75 seems a bit steep for something that cost $100. That's about $40 which is near half the price for the print. Anyone else experiencing similar customs fees? Yes, got the customs letter yesterday - £31.75. It's a charity print so I think I'll try and claim it back. All in how much did you spend on the print? Including shipping and customs
