Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by blerd on Sept 5, 2018 11:27:12 GMT 1, I sincerely hope Tate do NOT allow people to take out membership just to get the discount. This is basically cheating Tate out of 300 pounds per print, as everyone would become a member just to save 300 pounds. That is not what Tate membership is supposed to be all about. It's about supporting the arts, not about getting things on the cheap. I totally understand where you are coming from and I agree with your reasoning to a point, especially since I'm already a member. However, that would be out of line compared to their other prints. If you go on their website and look at a product page it clearly advertises that if you add a membership to your basket that you will get a discount on that purchase. If anyone has become a member, I would really encourage them to get the most out of it and see some of the exhibitions. You can get in for free and they are well worth a visit. It could be argued that a contract has been entered to purchase these prints already without membership. If on the other hand you joined before the invoice was sent thats another matter. Either way the Tate should have made it clear from the start, that due to demand Membership can't be applied retroactively if that is the case.

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by blerd on Sept 4, 2018 16:51:21 GMT 1, What did you not like about Raffles? Was it the size of the dots? It was really just a personal opinion. You can't tell from the photos how much texture the dots have and Raffles was my favourite size wise but in person there was this one purple dot that I couldn't take my eye off and I hated it. I know if it was on my wall it would always annoy me. Again, I'm just being crazy and someone else might love it. My girlfriend applied 5 days after opening and just got a confirmation for our second choice (Gritti) again in the 80's but we'll likely go that route. what would have been your first choice?

The pictures are so hard to go by - anyone seen it in the flesh? yeah a million times better than the Pdf. it was my second choice. IMO it works because its truer to the new paintings and different to the traditional spots.

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by blerd on Sept 4, 2018 16:01:36 GMT 1, So all this Heni cloak and dagger we need your birth certificates**t is pointless. Should have just been able to walk in and buy one. Yeah, I'm really struggling to see the benefit of it. Was anyone a HENI invitee who went to the event and hasn't received an invoice yet? I'm still waiting, and to be honest I'm getting pretty annoyed since I was marked as 24 so in theory I shouldn't have an issue. especially when they've sold to someone who put it straight on ebay. silly.

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by blerd on Sept 4, 2018 14:27:10 GMT 1, Not looking good for me 😒 Looks like these were much more “popular” than people may have thought. fingers crossed you'll get one. IMO some people will pass, whether due to change of mind or funds. I think the fact that you can't pay with credit card and only bank transfer "due to demand" will have an impact too.

Charming Baker Show at Jealous September 2018, by blerd on Sept 4, 2018 13:24:48 GMT 1, If had the cash in the art fund I’d buy one of these but I can’t help but think just the panda head alone loses something special. The half pint IS the panda head set against the human part. As much as I love the panda head alone the two together make the image what it is. Just my meandering thoughts though. I know what you mean. Even the the stripey shirt adds so much to the image.

Charming Baker Show at Jealous September 2018, by blerd on Sept 1, 2018 13:35:43 GMT 1, Plenty of Artists revisit images. Look at Banksy and Rats for instance. That is a stretch. If you are happy with it, what does my opinion matter? As I said, Baker is a fine artist whose work I have on my wall as we speak. Only wish this particular edition was something a bit fresher. I retain hope another edition is forthcoming. I know the internet is not the best at conveying mood, but I was just trying to have a friendly debate, part of the reason for joining this forum. Your point of view is valid and I respect it, I just have a different one. Ps. you'll need a thicker skin in here, it can get ugly real quick.
