Your latest Art Purchase?, by k2 on Mar 7, 2020 0:43:27 GMT 1, Hi, who is the artist?... really like this. I’ll have to get back to you on that one. I’ve had this for years and can’t now remember
I think it might be Philip Gurrey, but I could be wrong.
It’s lovely.

Etam Cru 🇵🇱 Sainer & Bezt • Street Art • Print Release , by k2 on Mar 1, 2020 20:05:47 GMT 1, Actually been waiting all day for this, Limited Edition sketch book has sold out. Both prints still up, for now.
So was I. I managed to talk myself out of it at the last minute, and now slight feelings of regret but mainly full of the joy of not spending money that I shouldn’t be spending.

Charity Auction for Glasgow Children's Hospital Scanner , by k2 on Feb 4, 2020 23:17:12 GMT 1, I own a few, a talented lady
I have a couple that are surprisingly enjoyable and very affordable.
However someone (who is also on here) pointed out to me that the work is very similar to an artist called Taylor Cox instagram.com/taylorcoxart - not sure who did it first, but the similarity is a little odd.
I have an older Golsa painting that is similar in style to Taylor’s older paintings, and they seem to have progressed in similar ways too.

Inside Art Collectors Homes, by k2 on Dec 15, 2019 0:16:01 GMT 1, Big job ! That fireplace is going to look stunning awesome space you got there Yeah it's certainly quite a job. Everything back to nothing then slowly building it back up again.
And it might not be obvious, but it should actually two floors. The floorboards / joists are out at the moment, I'm not living in a church.
Nice to see someone a little further along the process though - your place is looking really good. Hard work, but rewarding.

At least your stonework looks in decent shape - I’m having to rake out all the crappy cement to repoint with lime. I dont envy you ! Election to be held on 12 December , by k2 on Dec 10, 2019 0:12:26 GMT 1, i always believe people when they start with 'my friend said' . It's always a truthful thing they say Or so my friend told me Its copied from a genuine nurses profile on facebook and will probably be on tomorrows news after whats going on there right now #labourscum The same exact passage of text has been posted all over by Facebook by many different profiles. In cases like these, I'd be inclined to believe the official statement given by the hospital which broadly matches the account given by the parents.
But each to their own of course.

Cold temperature advice on artwork PLEASE, by k2 on Dec 5, 2019 23:39:24 GMT 1, This may help.
A "conservator" can advise on suitable environmental conditions for your collection, and can monitor the environment and make recommendations if adjustments need to be made.
Paintings, prints and their frames are made of many different materials together they form a complex structure the materials are also sensitive and can be damaged by, the surrounding environment, particularly extremes and changes in humidity and heat.
Many of the problems identified above are caused (or made worse) by poor environmental conditions. Most of the materials in a paintings & prints respond to changes in relative humidity and temperature by expanding and contracting. If the relative humidity keeps on changing then the paintings, prints will expand and contract repeatedly.
In a museum the environment can be controlled with air conditioning (normally to a relative humidity of 55% (plus or minus 5%) and temperature of 20°C (plus or minus 3°C) – colder if human comfort is not an issue), but this is not usually an option in the home. In the home, a painting can suffer quite easily from high and low humidity.
You should also think about the environmental conditions in which your paintings hang. During the summer in Britain, the conditions in a well ventilated room are, in general, fairly good for paintings. However, in the winter months, extremes of temperature or relative humidity can cause problems, for example, the central heating in homes really dries out the air and causes problems; whilst rooms that suffer from damp will have high humidity and dampness encourages mould or mildew. Very interesting, so the extreme change in temperature is more the issue? The main concern is a constant cold room however we will have the log burner up and running soon. We are also dealing with how to protect artwork that's hanging in a very old house with solid, poorly insulated walls. Depending on your ventilation, you may find that you experience condensation on your walls once the rooms are heated. And depending on your construction, your walls may always have a degree of dampness. For example ours are solid granite walls, designed for moisture to escape through the pointing.
The best advice I can offer is to ensure that no artwork rests entirely flat on the wall - ensure that air can circulate behind the frame or canvas. You probably have some pieces that have felt pads in the bottom corners of the frames to help the frame hang flat - ensure these are added in all corners to create a little breathing room behind. You can buy these cheaply as 'furniture pads' from Amazon etc, they're more expensive if you buy them as framing supplies.
Would also recommend tray framing any canvases to add an extra barrier.
We're 3 years in now and thankfully have had no issues, but I do still worry about it and regularly check what's happening behind the canvases. I don't have many prints, but I several works on paper that show no signs of adverse reactions to the conditions.
Enjoy the old property - you'll quickly learn to accept it for what it is. Once you accept that it's not built the same way as modern properties, and therefore won't behave the same way, your frustration levels will reduce significantly. But be aware that maintaining the property may become a time-consuming (but rewarding) hobby.
This may help.

For Sale - Adam Neate Paved With Gold, by k2 on Oct 28, 2019 13:27:11 GMT 1, This site has *something* in it that automatically converts "W.T.S." (without the full stops) to "Want to sell". So when someone attempts to type "G.L.W.T.S." (without the full stops) to indicate "Good luck with the sale", the site makes a ruddy mess of it. Same as when typing "p.i.n.s." (without the full stops), the site will convert this to "Paul Insect". Thought that might be the case. I'm sure it's a recent thing as I never remember seeing before. I'll just have to try and live with it. Yeah I think it is a recent change.
I heard the admins are also working on new functionality that will 'translate' posts written by reasonable adults, making them appear as if they were written by whining, jealous, entitled children. This functionality is due to be enabled at the same time as the GDP winner emails start going out.
Edit: actually I think some members have been beta testing this feature for a while

Fintan Switzer collection - MISTRAL - available now, by k2 on Oct 23, 2019 15:01:39 GMT 1,
loughercontemporary.shop/collections/fintan-switzer
Lougher Contemporary is pleased to present a new body of work by Fintan Switzer.
An eight painting ode to the later works of Vincent van Gogh. Mistral takes its name from the long mythologised northwesterly wind that violently passes through the region of Provence, in the south of France, most commonly during the changing of seasons. A dry, cloudless wind that can last for weeks at a time, it's said to effect the nerves and minds of those who experience it.
The results being a sense of foreboding or nervous apprehension that seems at odds with the visibly clear and quiet splendour of the region. It has been supposed that van Gogh was tormented by the mistral wind during his time in Arles, both practically and mentally, and this is perhaps evidenced in his later paintings. They certainly seem to examine the duality of serene calm and violent intensity he must have felt in this new environment.
Likewise, these eight paintings aim to explore a similar terrain, endeavouring to merge subjects traditionally associated with still life painting with a more violent method that relies on movement and chance to scarify the tranquil surface.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by k2 on Oct 20, 2019 23:58:06 GMT 1, Unfortunately I’ve fitted enough coir matting in my time to know what it looks like. The pvc backing is added to make it easier the fully bond to the floor. It can be loose laid but it’s not as stable as it stretches or shrinks. You haven't experienced hell unless you've been on your hands and knees trying to clean liquid cat shit out of a fitted coir mat in a sweaty panic, as your first-and-only potential house buyers are parking outside in anticipation of their pre-exchange viewing. Only to turn around and see the little swine spraying more shit over the coffee table and all up the wall.
Readers, they pulled out.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by k2 on Oct 20, 2019 23:08:43 GMT 1, The price hasn't changed. The price is set in GBP. As exchange rates change, prices shown in other currencies will fluctuate. Price in USD hasn't changed all week. And the exchange rate GBP to US dollar is 646.07 right now. Shop price is $649. It was a manual change. I'm sure of it. I misunderstood what you said previously.
However, I think you still can't read anything into it.
They're using a third-party Shopify app (provided by MLVeda) to provide the multi-currency function, and the rates are updated periodically. This might be hourly, daily, weekly. The current exchange rate used by the plug-in is 1GBP = 1.298501 USD. So £500 = $649.25. Lastly, one of the features of this Shopify app is that it will round prices in non-native currencies, so $649.25 becomes $649.
Look at any of the products on the site, you'll see the same conversion rate is being used.
Sorry to be a killjoy - of course it's possible that more may be available tomorrow, but the price update that you've noticed is caused by nothing more than the exchange rate changing in a third-party system.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by k2 on Oct 20, 2019 22:42:33 GMT 1, GBP is on the rise. Price in GBP is still 500. Most likely just a currency thing I thought so too but I believe this was manually changed. Why change the price if more weren't coming? The price hasn't changed.

Brexit, by k2 on Oct 20, 2019 0:34:45 GMT 1, Ohhhhhhhhhhhh kayyyyyyyyyy... You brought it down to the level of mocking people with mental health issues. Your not going to get any apology from me. Probably better to have a word with yourself, ive got nothing left to say to you. I say this as a Labour (and Corbyn) supporter, but the progression and escalation of the conversation between you two this evening is a perfect reflection of why Labour will sadly not win a majority at the next election.
Time to stop arguing amongst ourselves when we have so much in common.

ROA – LA BÊTE HUMAINE, by k2 on Oct 18, 2019 22:32:25 GMT 1, Someone was trying to convince me to go today. If i had the cash id have booked it yesterday! Would love to go and see this one, will no doubt have some awesome pieces in it!
There are some amazing pieces - honestly in some ways it’s the best collection he’s done for a while. Some of them are staggeringly beautiful. I’d kill to have the money and the space to do them justice.
But there’s also a selection of smaller pieces that aren’t quite doing it for me. But they do tie in to the theme of the show so I get where he’s coming from.
But on balance it should definitely be worth the trip -the work is expensive of course, but he keeps taking it up a notch.

I think you've accidentally asked that question on a forum where no-one knows the answer, rather than emailing the shop to ask for clarification.

The message you enter isn't important, it's a way of making sure it's a human applying to the lottery An independent judge will examine the tie-breaker questions and select those applications which the judge finds to be the most apt and original (in the sole opinion of the judge).... Our judge is impartial and independent, and is a professional stand up comedian. The decisions of the judge are final and may not be reviewed or appealed.
Perhaps we should all calm down a little bit, stop shooting our loads quite so quickly, and take some time to understand how this works.

New ROA Book - 'Codex' , by k2 on Oct 9, 2019 22:08:50 GMT 1, How are people still able to order the signed edition? I place it in my basket but when I go to checkout it says item has been removed from basket,I assume all the the signed copies have been allocated. Same for me!
I think it might be google translate causing the issue as I just managed to recreate the issue too. Try it without translating to see if it works.
Nice to see such a good reaction to this book. I know that a lot of work has gone into it, and hopefully it’ll have the same visual impact as the photos on his old Flickr group.

New ROA Book - 'Codex' , by k2 on Oct 9, 2019 12:00:06 GMT 1, ROA will publish a new book in December 2019 - 'Codex' - with publishers Lannoo. Fans of the artist will appreciate that he is one of the most prolific street artists with work in every corner of the world, and the monograph will attempt to represent that.
More information in English can be found here and here, and a limited number of signed copies can be reserved here (site in Flemish)
The art monograph of the year: the world falls for ROA
Fascinated by nature, the anonymous street artist ROA likes to get inspired by the beauty of it. Although he is not afraid to show the brutality of the animal world as well. Lonely foxes, copulating rats, quiet crows with closed eyes, of which you do not know if they are sleeping peacefully or have died long ago ...
With great attention to detail, ROA draws black and white creatures of endemic or endangered species on buildings around the world, from Moscow to Mexico City, and from Los Angeles to London.
With essays from art critic Lucy Lippard and philosopher Johan Braeckman.
