Eine • Single Letter Canvases , by jluhiex on Dec 17, 2018 23:11:35 GMT 1, Financially wouldn’t matter one bit. Banksy brand is too big, too many people have vested interest in him in the art world for him to fail. Socially speaking it’s up to everyone’s own moral compass. Mel Gibson came out with all that anti-semitic rhetoric yet gets a nod for best director a few years later. With the me too movement and a lot of celebrity collectors based in America along with high spending collectors think it would effect his market if accused of similar behaviour Social media would overload It's possible, anything is possible but...
The difference between Banksy and Eine is that Banksy is a brand, not an individual. And when you have a brand there's money to be made. He easily has half a billion in assets on the art market today so even if he were to hypothetically commit career suicide there's just too much money to be made for it to matter. If all of a sudden GWRB prints were going for 10k you'd be damn sure everyone would scoop those up no matter how atrocious an offense Banksy committed. The reality is there's no money to be made off "me too" offenders like Weinstein, Spacey, Louis CK etc. If Apple stock dropped 40% because Tim Cook allegedly did something horrendous people out there would be buying it by the truckloads.

Eine • Single Letter Canvases , by jluhiex on Dec 17, 2018 14:23:33 GMT 1, I'm wondering what would some of you do if it would make tomorrow's news that Banksy abuses women? Don't get it twisted, not defending Eine or his behavior here... I'm against any kind of abuse. Would this mean some of you would bash Banksy on every sales thread on this forum? No pun intended though... Would you boycott Banksy? Or would you claim you boykott Banksy and still buy his prints? Financially wouldn’t matter one bit. Banksy brand is too big, too many people have vested interest in him in the art world for him to fail. Socially speaking it’s up to everyone’s own moral compass. Banksy Raffle • Dismaland Refugee Boat, by jluhiex on Dec 3, 2018 22:44:36 GMT 1, I just Googled this: An object will float if the gravitational (downward) force is less than the buoyancy (upward) force. So, in other words, an object will float if it weighs less than the amount of water it displaces. This explains why a rock will sink while a huge boat will float. The rock is heavy, but it displaces only a little water. ... what if it's a big rock? ... I've seen a dragon fly ... I've seen a house fly ... But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything When I see an elephant fly ... March 29, 2019

Dabs Myla for sale or trade, by jluhiex on Nov 28, 2018 7:54:29 GMT 1, Can anyone help and advise on approx value?
Hard to tell. Someone was trying to sell an acrylic on canvas for 1900gbp. Recent studies were selling for $2k framed so probably $1500 for an original on paper. Their 3 most recent prints sold for $150 edition of 150. A lot of people aren't digging their new style and I'm not sure if the last 2 prints even sold out. So there's 3 points of reference for you.

ART RESTORER FOR KAWS, by jluhiex on Nov 27, 2018 19:45:53 GMT 1, Might not hurt to reach out to his studio directly? A buddy of mine had a canvas that needed repair and worked direct. Perhaps since it was a unique canvas versus an editioned companion might make a difference but wouldn’t hurt to try. Medicom is a multi-billion dollar company.

ARTCURIAL URBAN ART AUCTION NOV. 19th, by jluhiex on Nov 19, 2018 21:44:33 GMT 1, Hammered EUR 5k, ie. bottom of the estimated range Thanks! Expected more...
Very cheap considering it would be more expensive to buy new works from source. The details on Pez's work are amazing.
Personally love this piece as I grew up on the Simpsons...maybe a piece geared more towards the American breatheren.

Teaching kids about Banksy, by jluhiex on Nov 8, 2018 23:36:31 GMT 1, I am having to teach a group of 9 year olds at my daughters school about art. I’ve plumped for Banksy as my focus, and girl with balloon is the obvious place to start. I’m gonna make a stencil of it with them and spray it a few times. But has anyone got any other ideas of a way to get them enthusiastic about Banksy and engaged with the art?
Shred the art and talk about destroying capitalist structures. Or maybe it was an anti-anti-capitalist gesture because it just doubled in value.

VAT to USA?, by jluhiex on Oct 29, 2018 6:25:52 GMT 1, Some auction houses will want proof that the item was exported. You will need to have fedex/dhl or whatever carrier you used provide an export document and then the auction house will refund you the VAT.
The other issue is use tax for your particular state. Similar to buying online items from out of state retailers, technically you are supposedly to report this to BOE or on your state income tax return. If it is a small item or the item doesn’t get flagged at customs you’re totally fine. People that are purchasing $10000+ pieces of art will typically get flagged and the carrier will relay the declared value to said agency. If you just happen to not report it and you get caught there is the use tax owed plus a 10% penalty.

What do you hang your art off of??, by jluhiex on Oct 16, 2018 20:43:15 GMT 1, Also uv acrylic is about the same price as museum glass. Of course you lose the anti-glare but if your fear is the artwork falling or glass shattering might be worth the money to switch to acrylic.

What do you hang your art off of??, by jluhiex on Oct 16, 2018 20:04:59 GMT 1, I’ve just been using wall plugs and hanging off of the screw, but now I’ve moved in with the better half and she has a 3yo and a 5yo. Is this secure enough? Or is there a better option out there?
As long as it's high enough off the ground for them not to touch. If they get older you might need t-lock hangers. They would need to pull the security lock out of the drywall to access the frame.

Murakami, by jluhiex on Oct 12, 2018 20:51:25 GMT 1, I own 15 or so Murakami prints. 6 are silkscreens the rest offset lithos. His edition of /300 I would venture to guess are all offset lithos. All my silkscreens are edition of /50 and /100.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the offset lithos as many of them have the metallic layers that make them really pop. My only issue with Murakami is the re-hashing of images with slight color tweaks. I don't know how many version of "Homage to..." he has but it seems there's a re-issue every 2 years.
Of the offsets I haven't collected anything past 2010. I can't verify if there's a quality difference between the recently printed and pre-2013 lithos but his older stuff tends to command a premium. If you're looking as an investment then edition of /50, /100, older lithos are all great. Figures and plush flowerball have all really taken off thanks to the KAWS effect.

Kaws Artwork, VALUATION, by jluhiex on Sept 18, 2018 1:19:11 GMT 1, What would y'all consider paying for a Grey 4 foot companion in mint condition? I was recently offered one (and honestly am unsure if I even want it) but curious what the going rate would be? Cheers. Taking authenticity into consideration
$80k+ usd
Galleries are wanting $100k now.
There's a set of 6 coming up at auction...should be a good gauge of where the 4 footers are at. I find it weird how out of an edition of 100 so many have come up for auction in the past year. There have definitely been fakes even from the BIG auction houses.

Paco Pomet 🇪🇸 Granada, Spain • New Paintings , by jluhiex on Jul 12, 2018 21:38:26 GMT 1, This was $2500-3000 usd 2 years ago. I'd venture to guess $4000 usd now is fair. This is Paco's "Meadow" piece and don't forget it was one of the feature pieces at Dismaland. Print run is very small as well.
