Jonas Wood Large Shelf Still Life 2017 Exhibition Poster, by medichead on Nov 25, 2020 15:16:12 GMT 1, And if you buy it from Phillips or Sothebyโs, you donโt have to worry that the random bank account youโre sending money to wonโt actually defraud you... We should understand that even eBay provides greater protection than is being offered via a private sale, and the going rate there is about ยฃ300. Regardless these things have a way of working themselves out, and as long as potential buyers are aware of the market (which I feel the people in this thread have done) then the forum values have been upheld. My bank defrauding me, strange comment. You need to look at ebay again, the going rate is more than 300. Check the condition on ebay too, some have damage the last time I looked. You won't have any worry about protection if you buy off me, I have sold and purchased on here many times. I'm 100% aware of the market prices, thanks I think you know what I meant - in that situation 'random bank account' is the seller. My point being, people on here often wilfully overlook what services an auction house like Sotheby's actually provides, and one of the many things they provide is peace of mind in terms of transferring money and pick up logistics. The same can't be said for private deals done over PM on a public forum.
In that vein, people should be aware they are paying a premium for your good-standing on this forum. The most recent sale of ยฃ250 appears to be in mint condition from a seller with almost 1k feedback, since we're on the subject.
With that being said, from what I can tell, people should indeed buy with confidence from you as a seller. I'm just pointing out the price is punchy, which you will be well aware of given your insight of the market.

Peter Doig ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Print Release โข Scottish Painter, by medichead on Nov 23, 2020 23:38:34 GMT 1, Sounds like theyโve been inundated , at least for their relative size , with enquiries at the gallery ! Seems payment terms are 14 days so to anyone whose missed out I would say itโs worth keeping on chasing as anyone not paying will result in prints being offered again in another few days.
Thank you, appreciate the heads up! ๐ค๐ป

Money Trap, by medichead on Nov 23, 2020 10:22:43 GMT 1, Okay i know that the very mention of prices of prints puts some peoples backs up. So please bare with me on this it is just i wanted to ask a general question to all the budding art collectors on here. When will the madness end? I can remember POW from back in the day when Banksy prints could be ummed and arred about for weeks and months. Now as we all no it has become a feeding frenzy, over as long as the site holds up in minutes. So the question is, what is the growth potential of a print ie the price? The word on the forums this time last year was that signed stuff would be ยฃ2500 to about ยฃ4000. Twelve months on and anything at that level is considered cheap. With gallery pricing often taking stuff over the ยฃ10,000 mark. So for a buyer now unless they have very deep pockets a Banksy print is an investment, as soon as you start splashing that sort of cash you have to be sure that you are not just pissing it down a drain. So everyone that is buying must feel confident in the market, and long term things are still on the up? So where do people see pricing in a couple of years? Is there a limit in the art world as to what say a Sattchi type would pay for a print? I know everyone says only buy what you like! However with someone like Banksy when we are talking nearly a grand for an unsigned print, i think just to like it is not going to be enough for 95% of people Cheers Just add a 0 to the figures quoted and suits to todayโs times! You do love to revive a dead thread, don't you tab?

Not sure the motive for the ongoing attempts, but working in my favour as someone looking to purchase one of these editions. Carry on.

Peter Doig ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Print Release โข Scottish Painter, by medichead on Nov 20, 2020 18:38:47 GMT 1, Classic Doig, I can see why these have sold out. I'll add my name to the list once the OP is sorted. Not classic Doig. Take another look at his 1990s paintings hombre.
He has a broad subject matter - Iโm not sure you can easily say โclassic Doigโ, but Iโm far from an expert.
But I do like the look of these and to me seems cheap given signed, the size, and number of editions.

Peter Doig ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Print Release โข Scottish Painter, by medichead on Nov 20, 2020 13:41:13 GMT 1, Anyone manage to get one of these? Let me know!
โPeter Doig designed this special edition for the Secession. The artist has repeatedly taken up and varied the motif of the bather in his paintings in recent year. Two of which were on view in his 2019 exhibition in the main room of the Secession. The images are a homage to the American modernist painter, Marsden Hartley โ a depiction of Robert Mitchum on a beach in Trinidad โ but now Mitchum is nearly unrecognizable, an abstraction that allows Doig to experiment in paint handling and image-making.
Organized as horizontal striations, the manifold color fields not only evoke a range of ambiances between day and night, they also draw attention to the means of painting. Doig is less interested in rendering identifiable, real scenes than in the interplay of representational and compositional elements that, weaving between reality and imagination, meld different planes of perception and recollection.โ
Medium: Digital pigment print on Somerset Radiant White Velvet 330gsm Size: 128 x 97 cm Edition of 123 Signed and numbered Price: โฌ 950
This limited edition peter Doig print is available at Secession www.secession.at/en/shop/produkt/edition-peter-doig/

Influences in the art world, by medichead on Nov 17, 2020 12:26:05 GMT 1, Easily recognisable as @collection_montparnasse. Occasionally he actually seems to buy the odd gem, but mostly garish, uncultured tat at a volume that seems unhealthy even in the context of a high budget.
Three points on this subject: 1) this is a toy, and he's done you a favour by missing out 2) what an incredibly fortunate existence one must enjoy to be upset at missing out on a drop of a toy from a contemporary artist. 3) the perceived scarcity is a very deliberate marketing and branding ploy.

Artist Plate Project 2020, by medichead on Nov 16, 2020 16:11:23 GMT 1, Nara just sold for 3.5k on ebay. I'm going back in for more Haring's. Which Nara plate sold for 3.5k on ebay? This one or previous editions? Can't seem to find it Also can't find it - LV could you link to the sale?
I didn't get involved as I don't think the plates would suit my house. But the Ruscha is lovely.

Constructive Criticism, by medichead on Nov 12, 2020 17:56:54 GMT 1, So much good advice here, particularly whatilike and Carl, but many others saying sensible things.
I have very little to add, if I'm honest, but I would echo not chasing the market, and trying to avoid pop iconography on the whole.
Additionally, I would try and keep edition numbers low. People buying into your work at this stage should ideally be getting unique pieces, but failing that low edition prints. I am sure this has been thought of and there is an economy of scale that prohibits doing editions of say 10, for example.

Mason Storm ๐ฌ๐ง New Print Release โข Who is Mason Storm?, by medichead on Nov 12, 2020 14:36:28 GMT 1, Mason Storm has never ever been a part of the "the crew" and he has absolutely nothing to do with painting of the Monkey Parliament piece, and anyone who is trying to convince others otherwise is a shitehawk Call me inspector gadget or whatever you want but didnโt Mason have the Asylum II show that had 2 Banksy pieces in it? There is also pics out there where he seems pretty chummy with Eine who is the closest person to Banksy being he did a show with him (that didnโt really show much if any eine work) and saying he flew to Australia with Banksy and painted rats all over Sydney in 2003. I think itโs safe to say heโs close to the โcrewโ Welcome to the forum! Did you make an account just to post about Mason's involvement in the original DP?
