Your Health is Your Wealth, by Balboa on Feb 25, 2021 7:47:48 GMT 1, I hate to say something remotely negative in response to such a positive post.
But it’s probably easier to be ‘glass half full’ when you own a house outright and had the funds to spend £5K on a piece of art and enough to buy a Rolex in the first place.
Just trying to balance the argument for the more naturally pessimistic among us.

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by Balboa on Feb 9, 2021 16:39:39 GMT 1, It's probably not that far out. Prescription are asking £2,000 and Laz is asking £2,250 (without the frame) and box sets are selling for £1,100 to £1,500 on eBay.

BANKSY AUCTION HOUSE ADVICE, by Balboa on Jan 21, 2021 14:21:25 GMT 1, If you are speaking to a major auction house then they would have told you all of this, surely? It doesn't hurt to have independent opinions right, after all, they are sales people. Seller's commission for example. This I've just learned is on top of the buyers premium. I wasn't aware of this. So what % to expect ? I was referring mainly to the points around shipping costs and other fees.

BANKSY AUCTION HOUSE ADVICE, by Balboa on Jan 21, 2021 13:57:12 GMT 1, Im sure I'm not the only person here considering consigning his Banksy prints to auction. I'm currently speaking to a major auction house about placing a few signed prints. What are the things I should be watching out for, what constitutes a "good deal". I'm overseas, professionally packing and shipping framed prints, wise with glass ? insurance ? something the auction house could facilitate ? They add on a % on their side of the sale, but are there any other costs for the seller, aka me. Appreciate any advice from anyone who has also put their pension in a box and shipped in overseas. (apologies if there's already a significant thread on this) If you are speaking to a major auction house then they would have told you all of this, surely?

Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by Balboa on Jan 18, 2021 8:11:44 GMT 1, And another thread that's becoming a dick waving contest. Why? It’s nice to discuss people’s passion. This is a forum of collectors. Is it the value that you find offensive?
I’m not going to embarrass the individuals by pointing them out - but there’s a real lack of humility in some of the posts in this thread.

Boxer Devin Haney's 8 foot KAWS, by Balboa on Jan 17, 2021 8:54:28 GMT 1, Looks legit for a guy who gets punched in the head for a living.
In fairness though, he’s 22 and has already earned more than 99% of us will earn in a lifetime.
From someone who gets punched in the head just for the fun of it.

Damien Hirst’s TShirt, by Balboa on Jan 12, 2021 20:56:48 GMT 1, That's badass and at ~$75k not a terrible price.
Given that there’s a pair of Muhammad Ali fight worn trunks listed for exactly half that, I would argue it is a terrible price.

Fastest growing artists: 2020, by Balboa on Jan 6, 2021 21:37:09 GMT 1, Not necessarily on point with the thread, but artists to watch in my opinion are: UK: Sophie Vallance, Douglas Cantor, Florence Hutchings, Hetty Douglas US: Thai Mainhard, Brandon Thompson, Tony Camaro, Chaz Bear France: Galina Munroe, Jordy Kerwick (via Australia) I had to look most of these up but what I saw pretty much could have been painted by the same artist.

BANKSY SIGNED POLICE KIDS FOR SALE, by Balboa on Jan 6, 2021 21:21:27 GMT 1, And I sold one of these sometime around 2006 for £1,800 - so I hope they aren’t now actually worth £120,600.
It was worth £120,600 to the person that paid it. I get that Balboa but with that Theory your saying the piece is worth £120,600 (the last full auction price) - which In my opinion it isn't. It's the old Hammer price Vs Full Fee Price debate which has been 'debated' on here many many times over the years (no more so since May this year). If someone is happy to pay that extortionate amount in Auction, Im really happy for them and the seller - call it feeding frenzy or getting carried away / seduced at auction but its not for me and that's not the value, nor does it set the precedent of the value of the piece. Again and respectfully, this is just my view.

But the buyers paid a lot more than the hammer. Think thats on the high side man, average of last 3 hammers is around £80k So the seller got a-lot less after fees - even at the highest hammer pice. Some of the prices thrown around on here are bonkers - Just my opinion.

BREXIT and Double VAT, by Balboa on Dec 29, 2020 14:03:07 GMT 1, Shipments from EU27 to UK will require a commercial invoice that wasn't previously required.
What extra paperwork? They'll ship it to the UK. Customs will process it. I agree. Big, well established galleries will be ok but small independent artists based in Europe will simply start saying "sorry, no shipping to UK". It just wont be worth their while to have to deal with all the extra paperwork and the hassle.

Brexit, by Balboa on Dec 24, 2020 22:17:22 GMT 1, Everything at this stage is a prediction. Nobody really knows how this’ll pan out.
It may go Pete Tong or it may be the best thing to ever happen to the U.K. or it may be somewhere in the middle.
Whatever, there’s absolutely nothing any of us can do about it now.
I choose to be glass half full about whatever situation I’m in. And I’ve been in some pretty dire situations in my life.
Hopefully not only the ones you want to hear. Sorry to disappoint you, but yes I do listen to the "only the ones I want to hear".
Because the "only ones I want to hear" are those who know precisely what they're talking about.
Everything else is just noise, lies, and fish.
Fücking fish.

Brexit, by Balboa on Dec 24, 2020 20:56:41 GMT 1, It annoys me that the majority of people think that someone with a differing viewpoint is an idiot.
The world has become so polarised in so many scenarios.
And for the record I didn’t vote either way.

I understand that people have opinions and a right to express them. But along comes a pandemic and everyone is an epidemiologist. Brexit - everyone is an economist or has a degree in political studies and/or international trade. Along comes a pandemic and I listen to epidemiologists.

It's a crying shame the majority of voters did not do the same.
Still, blue passports, eh lads.
