Stanley Donwood ๐ฌ๐ง Dan Rickwood โข Radiohead โข Thom Yorke , by gm on Mar 18, 2007 19:47:38 GMT 1, Got a few of his pieces, War Seriously (on black), and Pacific coast, both are splendid pieces but i feel too much of the work is based on Radiohead/Thom Yorke album stuff. The relationship is abit Jamie Hewlett/Gorillaz like which means alot of the work will only appeal to the bands fans. If you don't like the music you won't buy the image. His new stuff on eyestorm is pretty fab though!!
I almost didn't buy a Cnut because of the Thom Yorke connection, but in the end the strength of the image won through, and I haven't regretted it for one minute.
I don't care if Donwood suddenly becomes The Next Big Thing, or fades into obscurity with the rest of the print run unsold - I love it to pieces and that's all that matters.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by gm on Dec 11, 2006 0:04:30 GMT 1, It was from: Pictorem Gallery 383 Hoe Street Walthamstow London E17 9AP T: 020 8520 0340 Really top place, spend as long as you want talking about chopping and changing ideas/mounts/frames - then does a superb job too. Was surprised at how cheap it was considering the size of the fecker!! other prints, 2 Eine's @ 500mm x 700 costing ยฃ70 each and one Jamie Hewlett @ 345mm x 697 costing ยฃ64. Bargins!!
Cheers. I have a feeling I may be paying them a visit in the new year...

Where did you get him done? I've got a few here that need the professional touch at budget prices.

Sounds like a bargain to me

IIRC, the one on display at the Ghetto last year was masking-taped to the wall

Your latest Art Purchase?, by gm on Nov 9, 2006 0:50:26 GMT 1, I'm in the cheap school too - here's my signed Love Rat which has been in a clip frame since I bought it over a year ago No funny comments about that being the best way to frame a Love Rat!
My Love Rat lived in a clip frame for over a year too, with absolutely no ill effects at all.

Banksy Flying Copper Print, by gm on Dec 2, 2006 2:21:47 GMT 1, I was in there last week.
You're right about PF and BH, but the Flying Cop that's due in is one of the cardboard cut out ones from Turf War, and it's going to cost a lot more than ยฃ2K.

Banksy Flying Copper Print, by gm on Feb 21, 2006 14:05:19 GMT 1, Yup, lovely image... he smiles at me and I smile right back ;D
I now have it on very good authority that Banksy doesn't sign the entire edition at once, he does them in chunks, so some of the coppers are dated '04 and some are dated '05.

PURE EVIL print on STELLA DORE, by gm on Sept 21, 2007 19:36:58 GMT 1, But they all seem to be falling to the west of St Paul's.
I know. Next to Waterloo bridge!
I fucking love the detail you've put in the city - if it wasn't so good I wouldn't be able to pick holes in it
I'm just pissed off I won't be able to get one

PURE EVIL print on STELLA DORE, by gm on Sept 20, 2007 15:35:39 GMT 1, I like that.
However...
if you're standing on the Tate Modern and throwing your bunnies up towards Waterloo, they're not going to land anywhere near the East End

Stella Dore Gallery โข Steph Warren, by gm on May 3, 2007 20:37:38 GMT 1, Only just spotted this thread! Do I win anything for being the slowest off the mark?
Nah, that'd be me - I've not looked at any of the Gallery threads for AAAAAAAAges - doesn't really matter what's new, cos I can't afford it anyway at the mo
Good Luck, Steph ;D
Looks like I'll have to start saving up again...

Banksy Links, by gm on Jun 4, 2006 11:29:34 GMT 1, I object to the way Mr Williams has purloined the nickname "Fat Bob".
"Fat Bob" was/is the singer with The Cure.
Mr Williams is traditionally referred to as "Blobbie".
(I'd do both of them. At the same time if the opportunity arose )
36", monochrome? You're wasting away. Get some pies down you!
Now, has anyone got any Banksy Website Links?

Banksy Links, by gm on Jun 1, 2006 11:16:45 GMT 1, Would a slight 'misprint' not be worth more than the perfect run tho, like a typo on a record label can sometimes shoot the worth of the record way above its actual value?
Anybody got any misprints?

Possibly, but I can tell you line 13 was definitely his idea... Mick wanted to smoke joints like everyone else, but he didn't like the taste of tobacco, so it was suggested that he might skin up using menthols instead.
They lost touch when hubby married wife number 1, just before the clash made it big.

Banksy Crude Oils - Video, by gm on Sept 17, 2006 11:02:49 GMT 1, I've got a few photos, but they're all mobile phone quality and not really worth putting up. I'm pretty sure at least a dozen people on here have more, and better ones than I do.

RCA Secret, by gm on Nov 28, 2006 16:33:49 GMT 1, Congrats all who made successful purchases
Just been talking to somebody at work who went along and got a couple of nice ones by nobody I've ever heard of.
Anyway, all the names are up beside all the postcards now, and you can also search by artist name to see what any particular person submitted.
