BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 19:40:59 GMT 1, A list of winners for the lottery will be provided to the advertising standards board. Ergo, if you contact them you will know who's won! And now there will be a few contacting them🙄
I don't think pfffffffft is into details too much. The t&cs said they "may" tell the ASA about surnames, countries and counties. Knowing that Mr Branston in the Bahamas won the Axe may be helpful but knowing that Mr Smith in London won the Handbag perhaps less so.
Edit - potentially insulting remark deleted and apologies to anyone who may have been adversely affected by the thow away comment. My bad.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 18:32:44 GMT 1, Nah, not really. I'm actually consumed with my day job and then looking after my toddler when I get home. I only flick in and out of here when I make myself a mug of coffee or during commuting! Okay, maybe a bit at weekends too when I need a break from hide and seek and doing jigsaw puzzles.
How about; do you believe that a sham lottery has been set up to give the impression that editioned originals were available to the masses, but in reality, the editioned originals either went to people on the preferred customers list or to people recommended to GDP by those on the preferred customers list...?
This game is fun! I'll pick it up later when I have some time mate.
What I genuinely don't get about you thinking it's a sham, is why you seem so bothered about it. Did you know it was going to be a sham in advance and if so, why did you take part? If it's only since you didn't win, then I'm afraid the optics aren't great. Can you at least accept that there are a number of plausible reasons as to why you don't know who has won what? Only because if it was a sham, then some were clearly wasting their one shot by entering for an item they couldn't possibly win. That's the only issue there.
Of course I accept that there are a number of other sensible reasons why we may never know who won editioned originals. That's a given.

Easy answer to this one for me.... "No". I'm interested in your opinion though, and it's not impossible of course. Assuming that you're right - how would you explain those who are suggesting they were successful in the lottery? Are they making it up for attention? Or perhaps plants by the artist. I just don't see the need for it to be a sham. Why pretend to do it? We've just had twins, and I definitely share the need for a distraction from the lovely chaos of home. Let's leave this for now please, it's going nowhere really.
I'm pleased that you accept that it's not impossible and I fully accept that I can't prove jack diddly squat.
Congrats on the twins btw. I can't imagine the chaos at your house knowing the state of mine, and I've only got the one. Best of luck with it all.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 18:21:07 GMT 1, silvermyn As & when I receive the Met Ball that I have been amazingly lucky enough to win, I will personally invite you around to see it displayed. I genuinely think it’s the only way to dispel this insane theory you have, you’ll see that I am a bang average bloke with an interest in art that’s massively lucked out & can finally have an original signed Banksy that was well out of my reach otherwise! I’m not part of any magic circle, I simply read about GDP in a paper after the Croydon shop opening & chanced my arm. My answer to that all important question was a few lines that was straight off the cuff in honesty.... You're on and congrats on the win

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 16:42:42 GMT 1, Unfortunately, you've raised nothing new.
You're also incorrect in saying that 5 or 6 peolpe on the forum have won because the context of my posts have been entirely focused on the editioned originals. These have only been won by a noob (who in all fairness appeared completely unsurprised by their win) and more recently a friend of a client. One other was pre-allocated to Ghost House.
The proposition that the preferred client list was baked into the allocation is not unreasonable. However, GDP haven't said as much so it is just an unproven proposition. But here's the thing with that proposition and the one question that I suspect you would have no answer to:
What makes you think that an artist, who controls the distribution of original works from source (editioned or otherwise), would suddenly be happy for them to end up in the hands of some randomer who applied via a lottery? Let's hear it, come on.
They are vetting all applications to make sure that editioned originals don't end up with flippers. They're not going to take the chance that they allocate an original to a new flipper that they weren't already aware of, are they now. Flippers are the #1 concern and the reason for vetting applications.
You seem to be utterly consumed by this at the moment. I hope you find some peace soon. As for your question that you suspect has no answer: "What makes you think that an artist, who controls the distribution of original works from source (editioned or otherwise), would suddenly be happy for them to end up in the hands of some randomer who applied via a lottery? Let's hear it, come on."The fact that the artist has gone to significant effort to set-up a lottery that accepts applications from 'randomers', offering original works from source, might be a good indication that the artist was happy for this to happen. An alternative question for you to answer might be: "What makes you think that an artist who has recently and voluntarily created a lottery systems that accepts applications from randomers to purchase original works from source would be unhappy with randomers entering that lottery and then purchasing original works from source? Let's hear it, come on."Nah, not really. I'm actually consumed with my day job and then looking after my toddler when I get home. BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 16:27:32 GMT 1, Hi twist65 and thanks for posting. This is now the second report on here of a Met Ball having been won! Great news for your client's friend and hopefully they have some good ideas on how/where they will display it. I must admit, I'd struggle to find a decent spot for it in my house in the short term, primarily due to all the baby stuff we're currently drowning under. Life was simpler as a single man Do you know what line of work your client's friend is in? No reason why you would but just in case it was mentioned. There was a removals man on eBay claiming to have a bunch of editioned originals not too long ago. Also, how did they find out about the GDP online lottery? Word of mouth or media perhaps... I would have had the same display problems with a Met Ball, think one would look amazing in a barn or somewhere with open beams which I don't have - I did have a nice spot for a flower thrower triptych but I guess a couple of hundred thousand other people did too. Am 99% certain client's friend is not a removals man or the eBay guy you mentioned, but I will ask the question and update if I'm wrong. My client told him about GDP, my client has a pretty amazing Banksy collection and didn't enter himself but told quite a lot of people about it (the Met Ball winner is the only winner he knows). He said he couldn't be arsed messing about trying to think of a good answer to the question as it was such long odds, which I thought was crazy but kind of admirable too!! Cheers for the info twist65.
You client's amazing Banksy collection must be pretty special. I have an amazing collection of children's books right now... mostly dinosaurs.

Again, zero reasoning will work with you but based on your line of thinking then 98% of the application pool is ruled out because they might be flippers. If that's the case why go through all of the insane work require to host this lottery at all? Not to mention the fact that this is their third or fourth lottery now. The other thing that is unproven by both facts and statistics is that all of the lottery winners are BFFs of PC/Banksy. This. This is why they are opening it up to some randomers. Which is the same reason Banksy keeps selling prints and other works to those of other lacking resources to purchase them at full market. I'm done. No logic seems to sink in with you. None. http://instagr.am/p/B3KvQsEnUl8 The reason for doing the lottery was publicity, something you and your fellow PR pals will be all too familiar with. This is the very first lottery for originals that I am aware of. Prints have been done on two previous occasions (VLH and SEv2) but there may have been others. You'll know better than I do.
In the old days, POW used to advertise that they wanted people other than gangsters and criminals to own art. This article is on similar lines. There is nothing new with this PR message but the realities of how Team Banksy do things is very different now. They are vetting applicant against unknown criterai and that contradicts the messages they are putting out. Maybe discuss it at your next PR meeting. Now go on ladies, do another giveaway on here. There must be some rat posters left over somewhere

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 12:36:06 GMT 1, Thank you and please rest assured that your point is not lost on me.
So that you know, I am fully aware of the context. Many people would have found out through various public channels (including social media) and word of mouth. However, some people had a more personal approach from events organisers; like the guys at Ghost House who purchased the Tiger before the lottery had even opened.
I am just interested in finding out how this particular friend of a client, who won an opportunity to purchase an editioned original, happened to learn of the GDP lottery. I really haven't shown an interest "every time a "winner" is announced". Only the allocation of the editioned originals interest me.
I may seem incredulous on this point but I don't understand why you would have a problem with me trying to get some information on how many editioned originals were won by people who were not on the preferred clients list. I'm interested, okay. I could easily point out that others on here are in denial about the preferred clients list (or are trying to defect interest from it because their names appear on said list), but that's not really necessary either.
mate the lottery was in all the national press and the evening standard which about 1 million londoners read every day Yeah, I know. So what's you point?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 12:35:04 GMT 1, Thanks pfffffffffft! I'm glad you have the patience. The longer this thread goes on the more tedious it becomes. People feeling the need to constantly remind us of their theories and/or conspiracies. I just don't get it! Is it down to a sense of entitlement? No please, someone tell me, because I just don't get it! If Banksy wants to give to vips or a list then he can, he will, he does! A lot of people put Banksy on a God like 'pedalstool'. I'm not criticising the man, he has brought about a lot of awareness for some very worthy causes, which I have no doubt he will continue to do - thank you. But its now time to give up the fantasy of a lone crusader, a man of the people. He has become a huge artist (a blue chip artist), for good or bad, and along with that comes huge sums of money. No one can blame him for taking a stance to protect his trademark or legacy He has children now, he's looking to the future and securing theirs. It's a lottery. It is. And if you really are incredulous as to how there was massive wall to wall media coverage, over 600,000 hits for Banksy Gross Domestic Product alone on Google, over 300,000 entries, not to mention his almost 7 million followers on IG, yet there are only around 5 or 6 people that are part of the forum who've won then statistics doesn't appear to be your strong suit. Further, there is a more formal means to find this out which has been pointed out to you multiple times. While I am sure some/much has been set aside for their preferred client list you fail to recognize that's likely already been baked into the allocations. There was a run of 50 total disco balls available. Only 15 were made available in the lottery. What do you think they did with the other 35? Do you think they destroyed them? There were 500 total Banksquiat's available. Only 300 were available in the lottery. What happened to the other 200 if they didn't go to VIPs? SMDH. Are you and pfffffffffft the best PR representatives that Team Banksy could come up with? I hope they're not paying you too much for this drivel...
Don't forget to like each others posts by the way. That makes them so much more special...

SMDH. Unfortunately, you've raised nothing new.
Thank you and please rest assured that your point is not lost on me.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 11:46:20 GMT 1, So what? Calm down, I'm only asking if he happened to know how this lottery winner heard about it.
Don't know why you feel the need to point out the obvious. Chill out my friend, it wasn't a question aimed at you to answer.
Fair do's. However, every time a 'winner' is announced who isn't a long standing member of the forum you appear incredulous. I'm simply providing context. Thank you and please rest assured that your point is not lost on me.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 10:34:05 GMT 1, Hi twist65 and thanks for posting. There was a removals man on eBay claiming to have a bunch of edition Ed originals not too long ago. Also, how did they find out about the GDP online lottery? Word of mouth or media perhaps... Banksy has 6.7m followers on Instagram. Over 780k people liked his Instagram post which linked to the shop. It was then in most of the national papers. My mother in law heard about it via a radio show in France. It's not beyond the realms of possiblity that the vast majority didn't hear about it via this forum. So what? Calm down, I'm only asking if he happened to know how this lottery winner heard about it.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 14, 2019 9:49:15 GMT 1, I've been averaging approx 20 pages behind on this thread, have finally caught up, that was a hard slog - might treat myself to a glass of red on the rocks to celebrate.. A client of mine rang me last week as a friend of his won a Met Ball. He was quite excited about it and wanted to know if I'd been lucky (I hadn't). This friend was not a collector (well he collects vinyl not art) and likes Banksy to the extent he has a copy of Wall and Piece but was never a POW customer or entered any previous lotteries etc, so it's his first proper Banksy. I appreciate this is second-hand information so feel free to view it suspiciously. It is true though. I'm hoping I get to go and have a little dance under it when he's got it hung proudly from the rafters.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 12, 2019 19:53:51 GMT 1, Wow my sister-in-law just received an email reminder that she only had a few days left to pay for her winning entry. Apparently she didn't see the first email ( ). She won the cushions, total price was $365 shipped to the states. She said her answer was good. I'm pumped for her!
Big congrats to your sister-in-law and yourself for having access to her lovely cussions whenever you visit.
I'm guessing these count as editioned originals? Were they an edition of 150?
Edit: I hope she lives in a pet free home

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 22:25:11 GMT 1, I stand by the view that there is nothing to show that editioned originals have been won by any established members on here, or the general public.........But misleading general applicants into wasting their one entry on an editioned original they never stood any chance of winning? If that's what has happened, then that's really not right is it... [/p]
Ummm, I’m a member of the public and am not on any lists and we were selected to purchase the thrower.
You’ll have to wait for proof (i.e. when it arrives) as I will not be posting anything that could jeopardise the transaction.
It’s going to look “mint” next to my Modern Toss 2001 Space Argument print.
Thanks yugio and congratulations on the win. No need for any proof. It’s not the editioned originals I’ve been contesting as having not been made available to the public but you’ve reinforced my point.
Welcome to the forum. I have Space Arguments #2 and #4. My kind of humour alright.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 18:56:50 GMT 1, This is from the T&Cs:
“To ensure that we have fairly administered the allocation of buyers, limited details (such as surname, country and county) of people whose applications to register an interest are successful (together with their answers to the tiebreaker question) may be made available to the Advertising Standards Authority.”
If you’ve got a beef about the lottery why dont you take it up with the Advertising Standards Authority?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 17:22:46 GMT 1, Another one that doesn't understand what an editioned original is. But thanks for your input. My apologies for not knowing something. Thank you for the lesson, consider me corrected. You don't need to apologise to me mate. I only know what an editioned original is because someone on here shared the knowledge. That's one of the best things about this forum.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 16:58:56 GMT 1, I won a tin of spam two years on the trot in the local church fete in the early seventies. This is the first I have ever spoken of it. I don't eat spam now. Was it an editioned original tin of spam...?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 16:47:38 GMT 1, as above^^^^ Highly likely as per Ts and Cs that those who succeeded with an edition OG like the vest had to enter into a separate sales agreement which would include an NDA clause There is no conspiracy Now this guy actually has a valid point. Thank you!
But then why would Casual come on here and tell everyone he had won the Met Ball...? Do you think he doesn't understand the NDA?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 16:37:37 GMT 1, Thank you for your rather aggressive DM. All you've done really is prove my point.
On page 306, bers - a newbie - said someone had won a flower thrower limited edition print (it was not his photo so I assume he hadn't actually won it himself), whatilike had won a Bansquait and so had quixote. On page 308 someone on twitter said they'd won an unlimited edition can but there was nothing in that to suggest that it was won by a forum member. So that's two established forum members confirmed as each having won a limited edition Banksquait print from an edition of 500. As Meatloaf once said, two out of 500 ain't bad.
How does any of that support the view that editioned originals were won by established members on here? I don't mean to be patronising or rude at all, but do you know what an editioned original is...?
I stand by the view that there is nothing to show that editioned originals have been won by any established members on here, or the general public. The editioned originals more than likely only went to those on the preferred clients list (even if they were established members on here keeping it on the low down) and anyone else was wasting their time applying. The Tony Tiger rug that was allocated prior to the draw being made completely supports that.
GDP have openly said they're vetting applicants and I'm sure as I can be that the vetting process involves identifying all their preferred clients. Do you really think that Team Banksy would want to put editioned originals into unknown hands that will probably stick them into auction the first chance they get? I doubt it.
IMHO it was misleading of GDP to advertise editioned originals as being accessable to everyone. The unlimited items, and a portion of the limited editioned prints, do appear to have been available to win.
Don't get angry about me making a point. I understand that that's the best way to manage Banksy's market and I'm not bitter about not having made the preferred clients list. I'm on board with all that. But misleading general applicants into wasting their one entry on an editioned original they never stood any chance of winning? If that's what has happened, then that's really not right is it...
I have the opportunity to buy the thrower triptych, I’ve been on here for 2 years so not long standing but also I didn’t sign up just to post that I won. I also consider myself a member of the public as I don’t have any gallery or artist contracts. Just an average bloke working far too many hours trying to make ends meet. Your theory is disproven. Thank you. Another one that doesn't understand what an editioned original is. But thanks for your input.

Here's my response. I'd argue annoyed rather than aggressive: There were 300 prints made available in the lottery not 500. And I'm done with this crazy conversation. Statistically out of 300,000 entries there shouldn't be more than a handful of winners here and there have been just that. Bye Silvermyn. No amount of reasoning with you will work. Good luck to you. Apologies, I didn't realise I was having an exchange with a teenage girl.
p.s. they're called private messages for a reason, and it still looks angressive

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 16:00:29 GMT 1, I thought you said that a few of the limited edition prints had been won from the 500 edition by established members? Have any long term members on here won editioned originals, or did they all go to friends? It has been accepted that the s**t list published on this thread is more than likely a wind-up, so print winners names appearing on it doesn’t really disprove the theory Again. There are two long time members that have won. I have now sent you a DM to their very public posts proclaiming their wins. Hopefully this puts this conspiracy theory you have to bed. Thank you for your rather aggressive DM. All you've done really is prove my point.
On page 306, bers said someone had won a flower thrower limited edition print (it was not his photo so I assume he hadn't actually won it himself), whatilike had won a Bansquait and so had quixote.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 0:41:06 GMT 1, I haven't seen much coverage in the mainstream media of any follow-up to GDP store. Isn't that a bit strange? I woulda thought there'd be something as Banksy articles are good clickbait. Anyone found anything? Good point. No articles accompanied by upset forum members with their best compo faces on. I kinda figured the vest winner would deffo get themselves in a couple of papers. Maybe the clutch bag too. If that was aimed at me drip then you can go swivel on it pal.
Otherwise, sweet dreams amigo

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 11, 2019 0:38:17 GMT 1, Obviously not and what a silly question. But if anyone on that s**t list had won, or if the media headlines this week had been that Mr Average just won a 10,000 to 1 chance of scoring an editioned original, then I wouldn’t have even theorised about it. It’s quite surprising the amount of fuss my theory has caused on here. People (including yourself) seem to be going out of their way to discredit what I have said. There’s even been suggestions that I have mental issues. It’s all a bit OTT for an idea that has no merit to it. What are the newer members on here trying to prove; undying loyalty to Banksy? Please, spare me. I doubt that would get you on the preferred clients list. A few on that list did win I thought you said that a few of the limited edition prints had been won from the 500 edition by established members? Have any long term members on here won editioned originals, or did they all go to friends?

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 10, 2019 22:00:08 GMT 1, 😂 I see you are still interpreting everything through your paranoid goggles. No PR, just my own genuine feelings and thoughts. If you had taken the time to check my post on the Introduce yourself thread you'd have been somewhat better informed. I expect you even entered one of my previous giveaways. Well put! Comes across as a bit like a hamfisted PR manager trying to do a bit of damage limitation, but your words are not lost of the masses. You’ve been on here less than a month I see. Welcome to the forum! Sorry, never heard of you until now. I’m sure you would have made a grand entrance though.
I cannot recall the last time I participated in a giveaway. What were you giving away, your business cards

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by silvermyn on Nov 10, 2019 14:23:22 GMT 1, For anyone that visited the Croydon set up, it was fairly obvious what it was about - if you took a few moments to SEE, reflect and actually take notice of the artwork. I entered the 'experience' with my eyes wide open with no expectations. Didn't win, not disappointed (in ya face Banksy). I'm just happy it happened and I was there to experience it. That's all you can take from all this; if you didn't win. That and the altruistic feeling of donating to others less fortunate. I think there's far too much entitlement in society and feel sorry for people if they are unable to see how rich their lives already are. When I wake up feeling a little down in the mornings, I'll often take a moment to count my blessing and be thankful all my limbs function and I'm not waking up in a hospital bed. Well put! Comes across as a bit like a hamfisted PR manager trying to do a bit of damage limitation, but your words are not lost of the masses.
