Your latest Art Purchase?, by eyectopus on Apr 1, 2023 23:44:49 GMT 1, Thanks for posting these, they look great. I have been doing a rehang and ended up with some old screws/plugs left bare. I would usually remove and fill them after a while but they are perfect spots to hang these.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by eyectopus on Mar 28, 2023 13:10:45 GMT 1, I purchased one from Ebay that appears to have a receipt. Others I assume were bought in bulk so may only have one receipt for multiple frames.
From what I can see they were available online for much less time than the booklets, so majority must have sold at the Post Offices which would explain why so many are available on Ebay.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by eyectopus on Mar 27, 2023 21:07:09 GMT 1, Stupid question. Are yโall talking about the red stamp on the back or an actual stamp or a dated stamp on the back? The initial ones on Ebay has the red manufacturer stamp only Then some showed up on Ebay with an actual postage stamp that had then been rubber stamped. It appears that the sellers had added the stamp and possibly had it rubber stamped at a Post Office.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by eyectopus on Mar 24, 2023 12:25:06 GMT 1, There are now frames on Ebay with a stamp of the back and have this in the description "PLEASE NOTE: On the back side of the frame - you'll find Second Original Stamp PNT FCK cancelled with UkrPoshta Postmark - 24.02.2023". No idea if they should come like this or if some people had it added while purchasing at a post office.

Banksy Stamps release @ Ukraine, by eyectopus on Mar 5, 2023 16:06:05 GMT 1, I just picked one up from another seller showing as based in Kyiv on Ebay. It was $139.99. I was very close to ordering the other day and unknowingly had push notifications switched off for my banking app, so couldn't authenticate the transaction in time. I wouldn't normally pay more a few days later, but more than happy to in this case.

Eine Artwork, VALUATION, by eyectopus on Feb 15, 2023 20:39:50 GMT 1, Hi all, just bought a Blue Train and I was hoping someone could tell me if the POW blind stamp location was crucial or is it normal to be on either side? It is numbered 75/75 and has a Somerset blind stamp (paper stock I'm assuming?) When I used to buy Banksy's from POW, I can't remember Somerset being stamped on the prints? Am I just being paranoid? Came in a normal POW tube with postal date of 2008, however it could be a tube from any print and not specifically this one. <a href="https://ibb.co/wKGjpng"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/rZ8N5B0/20230215-181439.jpg" alt="20230215-181439" border="0"></a> <a href="https://ibb.co/Dzg1Zwx"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/xX82Nzp/20230215-181454.jpg" alt="20230215-181454" border="0"></a>

That looks fine to me. It is a very nice print. POW did use Somerset wove for some prints and the watermark shows in the paper.

Confirmed Banksy Margate - Valentineโs day mascara, by eyectopus on Feb 13, 2023 21:21:22 GMT 1, The colours and shading look different from recent pieces. The patterns on the dress look freehand, like what Banksy has done in the past for other repetitive and uniform elements like wallpaper.
The broken chair could be placed in reference to a broken chair metaphor. Seems to be a few different metaphors but one is violence.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by eyectopus on Jan 27, 2023 10:27:20 GMT 1, They went a bit higher than that. The one i have is just above that. It was ordered very early on the first day and has the label stitched on, but took much longer to get delivered than the others. It was also used for a Love Welcomes post on Instagram.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by eyectopus on Jan 14, 2023 20:06:20 GMT 1, Curious to have pictures of it The listing does ring a bell and Iโm pretty sure it stated it was a copy and wasnโt trying to be passed off as a real one. That is correct. I saw it also and that was stated.

Banksy โข frAGILE โข Legacy of War Foundation , by eyectopus on Dec 18, 2022 21:08:52 GMT 1, what is the significance #'s on the side. if it was a used box from some cheap ikea furniture it surely would not have the date of 12/22 "603825161" As you've already indicated, the "12/22" is the date of creation of the piece. Sadly, I am clueless about what the "603825161" means. Could be random, i.e. completely made up, just for the faux-packaging code. But it also wouldn't surprise me if this number (or a part thereof) were a nod by the artist to something more specific and elusive. The reference to "a used box from some cheap ikea furniture" would be going offโtrack, perhaps confusing intended appearances with reality. Ceci n'est pas une pipe.I'm still confused by this. Is it part of an actual cardboard box that has the screenprint image printed on top of it? Or is it a piece of thick card that has been printed to look as if it is part of a cardboard box? What is heartening is that you've asked yourself these questions. Meaning you're curious. Paying attention, going beyond superficial glances, and considering the artwork itself โ including its possible creation process. My ever-so-slight disappointment comes from a (possibly unjustified) suspicion that, in the above respect, you are among a minority. The red โ used for the text, numbering and packaging icons โ is one of the seven or eight screenprinted colours. A game for art enthusiasts wishing to hone their observational and reasoning skills would be the following: Spot the multiple tells. The number or part thereof is a good point. Some things I looked at was the area of Ukraine in sq kms that is close the the first 6 digits, but does not match. I also checked world population so see if any figures match.

Banksy โข frAGILE โข Legacy of War Foundation , by eyectopus on Dec 16, 2022 21:37:44 GMT 1, Canโt believe there is a still conversation about the bloody time - this is primary school stuff. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ May I suggest that you set your alarm for 12am with Siri / Alexa and see if it wakes you up at night. ๐ Speaking of primary school, to remember it we were thought AM - After Midnight, PM - Pre Midnight.
24hr clock more useful these days. I have seen systems administrators get the AM/PM scheduling wrong, not pretty when systems go down in the afternoon when it should have been during the night ๐ 24hr clock avoids this confusion.

Banksy โข frAGILE โข Legacy of War Foundation , by eyectopus on Dec 10, 2022 10:01:13 GMT 1, I agree at first I thought the choice of a white rat was interesting but then I looked at it a bit more. To me its more a small feeder mouse. The kind you feed to a snake or something. Its clawing its way back up and not ready to give up. I really like this image and the way its displayed. If anyone gets an email for it and does want it--- shoot me a message. From the number of scratches per paw, it has climbed and slid (and clung on) more than once. I agree and the rat is now losing its grip. I see it as the rat represents the Russian invasions of Ukraine.

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by eyectopus on Nov 25, 2022 10:37:06 GMT 1, It baffles me whenever I see that seasoned collectors have stored posters in their tubes. I'd purchase a dinged poster before I'd buy one that has been sitting in a tube for years. More baffling is how some of them use this as a selling point. "Only removed to take pictures!" Not to sound like a dick, but itโs a bunch of shit I really donโt care aboutโฆBrainwash, Kawasaki, Keyes, some Fairey; not really worried about it. I bought every Brainwash that he released in his first two years of being an โartistโ, around 2008/2009. His prints were around $100 then. Worth a lot more now, but Iโm not bothered with the idea of keeping them in their tubes; same thing with my old Faireys etc. I have taken just a few pieces that sat in their tubes for years, to frame up, and I havenโt seen any paper damage, cracking etc. I take the piece out of the tube, and let it sit untouched for a few weeks, then slowly unfold it bit by bit every few days, until itโs ready as itโll ever be to get framed(it never lays flat without weights). Maybe Iโve been lucky, but I havenโt seen any visible damage to any of the ones Iโve done that with. Iโm sure there is some damage if you look at the paper under a microscope, but Iโm not worried about it. I should have mentioned in my post that I was referring to the "Only removed to take pictures" sales descriptions and not how collectors treat their tubed pieces in general. I have purchased prints with this description and found that they had roll marks and other signs of not being handled right.
I have also purchased some untouched tubed prints where stock photos were used. There are risks involved but I would rather this than the print being unrolled quickly to be photographed and then put in a tube.
The method I use is to put the print around a rolled piece of a foam mat., at this point the print is only very slightly unwound. Every few days i fill the inside of the foam mat to unwind it with the print still wrapped around it, over time it opens the print enough put between sheets for flattening. Probably overkill but seems to do the job. I use glassine between the print and all other materials.

Flipping Art โข The Debate, by eyectopus on Nov 24, 2022 22:12:26 GMT 1, This makes a lot of sense. In reality most of us are not wealthy collectors with $ to spend on whatever whenever. Like all purchases really you might sell it on (donate if of no value) however art can have such high costs $1000s+. Selling on enables more buying down the line. Just a cycle. There is a difference between flipping and selling on down the line imo. Flipping is planned prior to purchase usually and done with only a regard for profit. A lot of collectors change pieces in their collections over time and sell to make room and funds for other pieces.

Gold Ornate Frames, by eyectopus on Nov 21, 2022 16:18:38 GMT 1, Are these Ornate Frames not so popular these days? I think most of our collections don't suit them, but it does depend on the image. Also I think most people now aim for all their framed up pieces to have matching frames. It's an interesting observation Daniel, they're very symbolic and denote a certain set of values, hence their use in religious institutions and museums. The marble plinth of painting. Put some of the pre-modernist paintings in white box frames and they don't sing their own praise quite so much. Kind of like a chandalier in a council flat. Out of context they've always reminded me of Hyacinth Bucket in "Keeping up appearances", that's not to say I don't have a few knocking about the apartment :-) It works well with "I can't believe you morons buy this shit", not so much for Dface maybe. Toxic Mary prints look great in ornate frames also, could be the religious aspect you mention Reader.

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by eyectopus on Nov 20, 2022 12:55:11 GMT 1, Some great points at Reader. PC must have to deal with a massive amount of enquiries. Most online marketplaces have a lot of fake Banksy items and a proportion of them must end up generating queries by people thinking they have an official piece or questioning whether it is official or not.
I had some communication with PC over 2019 and 2020 (not GDP related) and they were very helpful and professional. I was very impressed by them considering the workload and changes to how they worked at that time. My impression is that they really care and try their best for fans and customers.
I have purchased from Castle Gallery and Andy was extremely knowledgeable, professional and passionate about Banksy art. He made the purchase very smooth, a great experience and educational aswell. Andy was highly recommended on here and I can see why.

Banksy Copyrightยฉ & Trademarkโข, by eyectopus on Nov 20, 2022 0:55:04 GMT 1, Have any other artists had this many problems with Trademark and Copyright of their art? I still feel the best way to stamp out the fakes is to release enough official work at affordable prices that it soaks up all the demand, leaving it unnecessary for anyone to buy fakes. There was issues with Robert Indiana's LOVE and other sculptures. A 3rd party trying to profit from his work.

Banksy on VeVe, by eyectopus on Nov 19, 2022 23:19:31 GMT 1, VeVe just announced Banksy Brandalism NFT's Not sure if Banksy himself is actually involved in this. Didn't think those Brandalism statues are considered "real Banksy's ". I have been telling people Banksy on VeVe will NEVER happen. So I'm in for a rough week.... LOL Cheers Not as rough a week as Banksy will have between this and Guess. Is it even Brandalism this time as with NFTs it could be some other scammer.

LUNA LUNA FUNFAIR, by eyectopus on Nov 19, 2022 21:55:08 GMT 1, Thanks for posting this. It will be interesting to see what the format will be. It will be great to have a chance to see it. It's like a time capsule.
At the time of GDP it was discussed if the Basquiat Wheel could have been an influence for the Banksquiat image.

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by eyectopus on Nov 19, 2022 17:26:46 GMT 1, He's an artist. I don't recall reading anywhere that delecroix or Blake had a factory. Just because people want something doesn't mean that they should have it. The issue is that the factory has already opened its doors if you are happy to sell 1000 pieces via GDP to collectors and raffle winners they have a right to some sort of service and support for as long as there has been Banksy there has been Banksys for sale pretty sure that at least Laz would have picked up the phone back in the day If a person was selected to purchase a GDP item and received it as expected, PC have provided the service and would have supported if there was issues. That person ended up having a great item at a relatively low price in their collection.

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by eyectopus on Nov 19, 2022 16:59:05 GMT 1, Agree with some of the points above having had past dealings with PC. Iโd look at the Invader โbusiness modelโ rather than Hirst for Banksy. Not aware of the inner management workings, but Invader and his team does seem to be on top of their game at the minuteโฆโฆ That makes sense. There aren't a lot of voices yet for the same reason people don't use check before you buy, they don't want PC to know they're selling, they don't want to loose the opportunity in the future etc, that's part of the culture, that's why I've been doing almost all my business non public for so long. PCs words were..The problem is people don't communicate with PC. I said it's the complete opposite, one of the problems is PC don't communicate with the people. Nobody knows what's expected of them. My phone's very beepy today That is something I always wondered about secondary sales by collectors of Banksy pieces. If selling is frowned upon by PC generally or only in certain cases such as flipping. As in if there was a lottery would previous sellers be filtered out.

Banksy in Kiev, Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ, by eyectopus on Nov 13, 2022 1:48:52 GMT 1, Does tthe power sockets play a part in this piece or just coincidence? They are under the shower and just above the bubbles. My first thought was has the bath come through the ceiling with the material hanging down above, but don't think it fits a situation like this.

Banksy in Kiev, Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ, by eyectopus on Nov 12, 2022 19:23:48 GMT 1, I agree with you hnkpnk . The lady on the chair took the time to put rollers in and is in a housecoat/dressing gown so not planning to rush off anywhere and is relaxed. She is on the chair to reach the window to put the fire out.
The gymnast with neckbrace continues despite an injury and the handstand gymnast continues despite the very dangerous location.

Banksy in Kiev, Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ, by eyectopus on Nov 11, 2022 19:29:24 GMT 1, The placement and quality of them is unreal. It is great to see new work again, while unfortunate about the destruction that makes for the backdrop.
The rubble above the handstand gymnast made it an even more dangerous location, as it looks so unstable.

Faile , by eyectopus on Nov 7, 2022 22:23:30 GMT 1, Must have been nice to hang the originals in your new house. Rehangs can be good fun. Good luck with the sale of the prints. It's great fun to do, particularly as I hadn't moved house for 26 years, starting afresh has made me rethink every piece of art I possess.
Having bigger walls has also now allowed me to hang a massive Choe piece I've not been able to since I bought it 14 years ago.
That's a long time to have a piece in the queue to hang especially a Choe ๐ Did you find any art that you forgot you had during the move?
