NFT Art , by eyectopus on Oct 23, 2021 14:42:39 GMT 1, Alec Monopoly brother and manager Avery has an NFT called Crop Clash. There was a rushed launch a while back and the NFT mint was paused, images never released due to technical error. They are now back on track and will be launching in a few weeks. Reasons I like it: - Avery can sell ice to an eskimo, has lots of influence - I like the art and the story of crazy tomatoes - You can pick one up cheap for now on Open Sea (Crop Clash V2) before the re-launch and marketing kicks off again - This was a failed launch, starting from scratch with roadmap, which I find interesting to watch rather than the usual LETS GOOOOOO nonsense Anyway, I've no clue on the value or potential I just like them. Also not posting a link to discord or OS as I dont want to be accused of getting shares / invite link spam etc. If you're interested you can google it yourself on Open Sea
Thanks for posting this. The links is an interesting one. I have seen so many on here posting links that benefited themselves without being clear about it. Personally I think it is fine once people are clear about it. I found the Crop Clash easily enough on Opensea and picked one up.

How do you make deals with other users?, by eyectopus on Oct 19, 2021 18:27:33 GMT 1, I have bought a good few items here and was mostly a very good experience. I paid with PayPal most of the time, but have paid by bank transfer also. It was riskier but I trusted the sellers.
Either way you need to get good photos and clear description of items and ask questions. One man's mint condition is another man's good condition. You also need to ensure how it will be packaged and shipped.

NFT Art , by eyectopus on Oct 18, 2021 18:58:14 GMT 1, I like that Metasaurs are already trailing ahead - with some sort of bonus for holders coming at the end of the month. I've also gone for a NFTeam, which seems interesting. You buy a team and it's now been announced they'll face off in tournaments, with prizes available. Minting finished yesterday but Opensea has some for pretty much the same price. www.nfteams.club/opensea.io/collection/nfteams-club
Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't heard of them until your post, but really like them so picked one up. I hadn't purchased anything since getting a Cryptomutt a few weeks ago so glad to get one.

The wallet snapshot is being taken tonight. Holders need to have the dad still in their wallet at the time of minting.

How Much Is Shredded Girl With Balloon Worth Now?, by eyectopus on Oct 14, 2021 19:14:23 GMT 1, I think this has become a truly iconic piece, pure rock and roll vandalism in front of the stiff upper lip crowd!! Who on this planet doesnโt know about it, itโs one of the most famous pieces of this century to dateโฆeven the (many) Banksy haters on this Forum cannot disagree. Personally I love it and it was being offered for private sale a while ago (I cannot find the email) and was about ยฃ10m. My assumption is it didnโt find a home with the select few it was offered to then but I cannot see why it wonโt achieve that in the worldwide arena todayโฆand I hope it does and good luck too!!!
I agree, it is iconic. There are not too many artworks that are so well known. At the time it was all over the media and people were very excited by it. Im surprised that a gallery or museum had not picked it up by now.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by eyectopus on Sept 30, 2021 19:41:28 GMT 1, Also.. still my favourite MTV Unplugged session from start to finish.
Great bands, and Layne was brilliant. It's very sad how he ended up. I saw AIC in 1993, they were great.

Cotton, by eyectopus on Sept 29, 2021 20:36:27 GMT 1, It's a stretch, but paper used for a lot of screenprints is Arches 88 that is 100% cotton.
Plenty of really nice prints made from it, including a lot of POW ones.

NFT Art , by eyectopus on Sept 26, 2021 14:24:14 GMT 1, One thing I would also advise, like with anything, don't get too caught up in the hype on discord servers. Of course before a drop everyone is going to be going ballistic about it and you can quite easily get swept up in that hype. I've seen with some projects, so much hype before hand, and then it drops, and it doesn't sell out as quick as they thought, or it does sell out but then the floor collapses. Some of the strong projects, of course, will rise. But just try to keep a level head. If the project has a strong road map, it may take time to pick up steam.
In addition to this there is a lot of manipulation, that can result in people overpaying for an NFT. I have seen some where people purchase a lot of an NFT only to dump shortly after trying to cause panic. The good thing is that it is very visible what is going on as you can check the transactions and wallets.

What Music are you listening to at the moment ?, by eyectopus on Sept 24, 2021 9:05:48 GMT 1, I agree, it was a great year for albums. A lot of very influential albums were released that year. I still regularly listen to albums released by Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Orbital and Soundgarden from that year. Yes all those you listed are brilliant also. Decent list here www.pastemagazine.com/music/best-albums/the-best-albums-of-1991-1/I thought REM's was earlier but that was 1991 as well.
Thanks for sharing that. A lot af great albums on that list. There are some I had not heard of that I will check out.

NFT Art , by eyectopus on Sept 15, 2021 18:10:19 GMT 1, There is NFT project that I came accross called Dejenerates. It is NFT characters that include 30 high profile DJs and other types of characters. They have partnered with Amnesia nightclub and some the DJs have mentioned it on social media. It seems a cool project. The sales seem slow at the moment but some nice NFTs for around $100. Carl Cox, Sven Vath, Oakenfold, Van Dyk, Maceo Plex, Nick Warren and loads more will have their NFT characters on it. opensea.io/collection/djenerates-clubbing-editiondjenerates.com/where is solomun? Miss the sunday nights at pacha ibiza
He could be one of the remaining 11 to be revealed. I havent been at a Solomun gig, but have been to Pacha a few times.
They will be organising virtual events on decentral land with DJs playing. I have no idea of the format or how it will work.

Yes they have all been minted and just on Opensea. The 30 named DJs have not been assigned yet. There are people holding characters with a white label record. Near the end of the month those with the characters with white lable records will receive one of the DJ NFTs.

NFT Art , by eyectopus on Sept 14, 2021 18:28:31 GMT 1, Good idea for a thread. I can't believe I am actually saying this as I had no interest until recently ๐ It was the Hirst Currency that forced me to get up to speed although I did not get one myself.
The Crytpodads seems to be a decent project with a lot of early interest.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by eyectopus on Sept 5, 2021 16:18:55 GMT 1, I made it to the Josh Liner Gallery in 2008 to see the Chris Kuksi stuff. I had a day where I planned to visit the Josh Liner gallery, Alex Grey COSM, and Last Rites tattoo studio (I was missing a show there by a few weeks that included Shawn Barber and Vincent Castiglia). I made it to see the Kuksi exhibition and into Alex Grey's studio in addition to the exhibition which was a great experience, but Last Rites was closed. Seeing the Kuksi work was the highlight of the day which included seeing a swat team break into a building a few feet away from me Thatโs really cool, @eyeoctopus. Those Kuksi pieces at JL looked amazing from the pics I saw. Really wish I couldโve seen it in person. Iโm a big fan of Paul Boothโs Last Rites Gallery. I loved their annual 13th Hour Show. Big Barber fan too; got a few of his early Doll Series paintings. Castagliaโs whole blood as paint thing is pretty crazy . Was really bummed to hear of Last Rites closing due to Covid. Hoping they make a comeback.
I'm sure they will make a come back at some point. I wouldn't say Paul Booth would stay without a studio and gallery for too long.
The Barber Doll Series is great. You are lucky to have some of his stuff. The Castiglia's are crazy alright both in design and method ๐
I have seen some Paul Booth paintings at a show in London and they were amazing, I was very tempted but didn't pick one up. I got a tattoo from him, so happy with that.
I was lucky to get some Guy Aitchison paintings from a show that Alex Grey ran in 2006. It was another example of the tattoo related art and visionary art fusing.
Here is a clip from it:

NFT Art , by eyectopus on Sept 5, 2021 13:14:42 GMT 1, Well, I have mentioned this before and since we are discussing NFT's in general.... Download the VeVe Collectibles app. They have 100+ official licences from Marvel, DC Comics, Star Trek, NFL players, Frank Kozic etc.... And many more to come. Chief Licences is Al Kahn, who brought Pokรฉmon to USA and made billions. You can buy NFT's without getting into crypto knee deep. I've bought Digital comic books for $7 and sold them the next week for $1200. (It's $2700 now.... go figure.....) And if you want to do some crypto - they have OMI coin. (NFA - DYODD)

Your latest Art Purchase?, by eyectopus on Sept 5, 2021 8:42:05 GMT 1, Love the central figure, theme and composition...great size too! I stumbled across a few monstrous pieces several years back at Josh Liner's gallery in NYC and Josh was nice enough to give me one of Kris' books. His work is intricate and detailed beyond belief with all sorts of little "stories" happening in every nook and cranny. Are you in the USย Charlie Bronson ? Thanks, Cardiff. That show he had at Joshua Liner looked amazing. Wish I could have checked it out in person. Yep, I am in the US .

Inside Art Collectors Homes, by eyectopus on Sept 5, 2021 8:33:23 GMT 1, I remember you picked up the POW print at the time. I had been keeping an eye on it while it was for sale. Great to see it on the wall. I was very lucky to get mine since then. They are great prints with an interesting history. You were lucky. I have never seen any up for sale besides mine
Yep I was, it went straight on the wall and like yourself it is my favorite print.

Inside Art Collectors Homes, by eyectopus on Sept 4, 2021 23:19:17 GMT 1, Great pieces smokie . I didn't realise the Crisis as Usual were that big. I love the POW skull, I have one framed similarly. That reminds I need to get one of those Faile Dogs ๐ Thanks so much. The POW skull logo is my favourite print that I own ๐. And I get a lot of comments on the Faile
I remember you picked up the POW print at the time. I had been keeping an eye on it while it was for sale. Great to see it on the wall. I was very lucky to get mine since then. They are great prints with an interesting history.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by eyectopus on Sept 4, 2021 22:36:59 GMT 1, Is the introduction of the Gorillas part of a long term strategy to increase demand for the other NFTs in the project also? Just trying to get my head around how it works. To my understanding yes. So just like any other company there are incentives for the early adopters. Similar to share splits and dividends. Now, I am in no way a financial advisor or crypto expert. . But, I do see the incentives in early adoption. I was told about BAYC in may of this year and chose not to pay attention due to other peopleโs opinions on their volatility - these developers have a storyline and metaverse that accompanies the apes. Now, the way I look at it is.. these incentives for early adopters encourages them to keep buying in because you can sell these incentives for 3x theyโre minting value instantly. You get early access to release and these type of projects take months sometimes to really hit. Once trading hits 1 ETH most projects start trending but by then itโs too late to buy in at a reasonable price which is what happened with the MAYC last month. Just my opinion, but the members holding make more money in the long run. Itโs kinda like galleries being โselectiveโ in their process ๐๐
Cheers for the explanation, that makes sense. I had some interest in crypto since the start but bought into the negativity regarding volatility etc. So I am very late to actually getting involved. I think the only way is to get involved in a project like this to learn what is involved in minting, buying and the gas fees etc. Similar to how people who were lucky with the Currency learnt quickly because of it. I have seen that there is a Crypto Dads being launched also that looks interesting.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by eyectopus on Sept 4, 2021 20:10:22 GMT 1, Charlie Bronson, that is a great piece. A Kuksi piece is something I would love to have. Were you able to give suggestions to Chris on any elements of the piece? Thanks @eyeoctopus! I sure was . He was open to suggestions(discussed having a central figure, theme, any elements of his previous pieces that I really liked etc) and updated me regularly throughout. He was a pleasure to work with during the process.
The central figure is excellent and really adds to it. It must have been a great experience having a part in a piece like that and then to get it on the wall aswell.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by eyectopus on Sept 4, 2021 20:06:22 GMT 1, It was mentioned here a few days ago about Great Ape Society so I took a look to try to get my head around NFTs. I'm even more confused now People minted them from the website with cost price and gas fees. They then sell for higher figures but need to pay gas, then the buyer buys and needs gas. Then they offer different images (Gorillas) for people that have 5 or more apes, which results in people gathering them and then dumping when they get the gorilla, which lowers the floor price. Great learning experience but has put me off them. It makes sense to me now why some on here mentioned Hirst airdrops, I had no idea what that meant initially. The Hirst looks to be the most polished and thorough of everything that I have seen. Would like to have a Hirst but see that it's good that it forced a lot of people to read up on these technologies at least. Itโs been 30 days for the great ape society project. And the minting was fairly cheap. Now, what theyโve offered is exclusive access to holder of 5+ apes as an incentive because they will only have 2k gorillas- the remainder will be sold off - if there are any remaining. NFTs are like an IPO high profitability - high risk. This project makes sense because of the community backing it.
Is the introduction of the Gorillas part of a long term strategy to increase demand for the other NFTs in the project also? Just trying to get my head around how it works.
