WANTED • What Art are you Searching for?, by twist65 on May 11, 2020 21:15:16 GMT 1, Looking for a Martin Whatson original for a friend. He has a few prints and open to any original really. I've told him to message GP and also the artist direct but thought I'd see if anything was available on here too.

James Joyce - HUGE original and glitter on wood ed , by twist65 on May 11, 2020 21:11:51 GMT 1, Hi all. Posting on behalf of a good friend in Kent who's moving house (at some point when normalish service resumes!).
He has an amazing HUGE James Joyce original that he doesn't want to take to the new abode, and also one of the glitter eds on wood. The original was a direct commission, and originals that size are very scarce.
Seller is looking for £5k for the big one, £1k for the glitter, or £5.5k the pair - also could be tempted in a (physically smaller!) trade on the original.
Pics and specs below. If you're interested drop me a PM and I'll get you in touch with the seller.
James Joyce 2018 With you not at you (unique variation) Paint and varnish on ash panel by Darbyshires 130 x 130cm Unique 1/1 Signed by the artist on the reverse of the panel 140cm x 140cm framed in 'baby blue' box frame with perspex to front, supplied with wall mountable batons
James Joyce Here for a good time not a long time (gold glitter edition) 2018 Gold and black glitter on 3mm ply wood Edition of 45 Framed, float mounted in white with gold fillets Signed and numbered by the artist in the bottom fillet in black marker 56 x 56cm

Che Guevara poster - Banksy, by twist65 on May 11, 2020 20:59:27 GMT 1, I have one of these. Fantastic image and looks the tits framed up. There are indeed the three versions like the three paste ups on the overpass. From what I gathered they were indeed to be sold but ultimately pulled (I never managed to reliably find out why) and only the canvas with spinning eyes was at the show I think. Some were given out at the end of the show by Laz, a few more popped up later. All in there are very few around, the swirly eyes and the drips are rarer than most prints Thanks for posting those pics, I remember seeing them ages ago and have been casually looking for a hypnotic eyes version off and on for years. Classic rare poster from the good old days. I always assumed there were 2 variants but maybe the first drippy one is printed not over sprayed.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by twist65 on Nov 14, 2019 15:53:45 GMT 1, I've been averaging approx 20 pages behind on this thread, have finally caught up, that was a hard slog - might treat myself to a glass of red on the rocks to celebrate.. A client of mine rang me last week as a friend of his won a Met Ball. He was quite excited about it and wanted to know if I'd been lucky (I hadn't). This friend was not a collector (well he collects vinyl not art) and likes Banksy to the extent he has a copy of Wall and Piece but was never a POW customer or entered any previous lotteries etc, so it's his first proper Banksy. I appreciate this is second-hand information so feel free to view it suspiciously. It is true though. I'm hoping I get to go and have a little dance under it when he's got it hung proudly from the rafters. Hi twist65 and thanks for posting. This is now the second report on here of a Met Ball having been won! Great news for your client's friend and hopefully they have some good ideas on how/where they will display it. I must admit, I'd struggle to find a decent spot for it in my house in the short term, primarily due to all the baby stuff we're currently drowning under. Life was simpler as a single man Do you know what line of work your client's friend is in? No reason why you would but just in case it was mentioned. There was a removals man on eBay claiming to have a bunch of editioned originals not too long ago. Also, how did they find out about the GDP online lottery? Word of mouth or media perhaps... I would have had the same display problems with a Met Ball, think one would look amazing in a barn or somewhere with open beams which I don't have - I did have a nice spot for a flower thrower triptych but I guess a couple of hundred thousand other people did too.
Am 99% certain client's friend is not a removals man or the eBay guy you mentioned, but I will ask the question and update if I'm wrong. My client told him about GDP, my client has a pretty amazing Banksy collection and didn't enter himself but told quite a lot of people about it (the Met Ball winner is the only winner he knows). He said he couldn't be arsed messing about trying to think of a good answer to the question as it was such long odds, which I thought was crazy but kind of admirable too!!

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by twist65 on Oct 14, 2019 11:51:41 GMT 1, Well what a bloody great event that was. I know for some its not really begun yet but what a brilliant installation. I managed to get down on Thursday, no dramas/posters etc and it was daytime but got to have a good look. As normal came away with a confusion of mixed emotions and euphoria, as there was plenty to think about, combined with feeling completely shallow due to being equally drawn to the overwhelming eye candy... (that flower thrower is amazing, a definite thumbs up for the production method).
Also a hat tip to the forum - I rarely post here any more but always good to enjoy a Banksy event on here. Even if there's 40 pages to catch up on!

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by twist65 on Oct 9, 2019 22:09:42 GMT 1, Bugger it - Croydon and back is an 8 hour round trip for me but I've freed up tomorrow so I can go.. Early start and last train back, but Banksy spectacles in the UK are such rare events these days that I've got to go for a proper look, and you can't buy that on eBay.. Will do the KAWS show late morning and head over after lunch, if any forumistas are going and want to say hi drop me a PM..

That one on the ground a few posts down in Allouche's IG looks like it could be about 6' x 10' -
Stoked to see this show...
Oh yeah i'd overlooked that image, good spot...

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by twist65 on Oct 4, 2019 11:56:34 GMT 1, I find it hard to believe they are handing out free Banksy posters given they know they will be flipped. Just looking at last nights comment by Mr B on Instagram, it is obvious he is not super thrilled about the person who "flipped" the monkey parliament painting... And half the reason he stopped doing prints was the whole Choose your weapon print fiasco.... I think that Instagram post from banksy was quite quite odd I thought so too but one thought that occurred to me last night was that perhaps the seller of the monkey parliament piece was a gallery or museum/institution such as Bristol Museum, therefore the piece was transferring from an owner where it could potentially have been on public view to a private owner locked away.
Or maybe its just a veneer of distaste at the art world system to paint himself as still an outsider..
