Pejac show London "Law of the Weakest" 22-31 July, by nex on Jul 22, 2016 5:33:02 GMT 1, The blind auction style sales of the originals is unprecedented.
'Blind Auction. Another term for a sealed bid auction in which bidders simultaneously submit bids to the auctioneer without knowledge of the amount bid by other participants. Usually, the highest bidder (or lowest bidder in a procurement auction) is declared the winner.'
As a purchaser that categorically didn't happen. FACT

Paco Pomet ๐ช๐ธ Granada, Spain โข New Paintings , by nex on Jul 21, 2016 11:58:25 GMT 1, Shot I took at Dismaland. Really liked his pieces and remember standing in front of them for quite a bit but for me I have no desire to own one, just a personal preference. Could not agree more. It was eye-catching in situ what with the size and glow, and I also spent a lot of time looking at it....but in the end I have no idea what it means, why is only the lady wearing a mask Also something is odd wit the front-right kid's arm : it appears to be laced in the arm of the front center kid but the perspective and contact point are really odd
I think it's alluding to the desires and dreams of youth being dangerous to adults

Brexit & Pricing - , by nex on Jul 3, 2016 2:04:14 GMT 1, <quote>There is a reason why the Chinese are making fake Italian handbags and the Italians arenโt making fake Chinese ones. This European culture, without question or argument, is the greatest, most inventive, subtle, profound, beautiful and powerful genius that was ever contrived anywhere by anyone and it belongs to us. Just look at my day job โ food. The change in food culture and pleasure has been enormous since we joined the EU, and thatโs no coincidence. What we eat, the ingredients, the recipes, may come from around the world, but it is the collective to and fro of European interests, expertise and imagination that has made it all so very appetising and exciting.</quote> I think the European culture part of this wrong, it's western culture that Brexit is looking to preserve. Same goes for America and Trump. He's not my ideal candidate, but he's far and away better than Hillary. Multi-culturalism, as envisioned by liberal Europe and liberal America, has failed and it's because other cultures, by and large, are not assimilating into the culture they're coming to. Western civilization made it possible for different cultures to exist peacefully with one another, and now the unending immigration from societies and cultures that do not value the freedom of speech, the freedom of assembly, the freedom of religion, and many more things we take for granted is threatening to overturn centuries of progress in the name of making us, and subjecting us to, what they're "fleeing". I know this not on the subject of art per se, but look at it through this lens. The beautiful renaissance masterpieces, the thought provoking commentary of graffiti art, and beauty of the female form in general are at risk of being banished in the name of being offensive to certain groups of people. Is this an advocation against closing the door to all immigrants and refugees, no it isn't. But the western world needs to get a handle on this situation before it gets out of control because political correctness kills and unfortunately, Europe is more politically correct than most places (except blue state college campuses in the US). People are finally realizing that it is not in their personal best interest to commit their taxes to a cause that threatens their existence in the not too distant future. </rant> Great post well written. Funny how two people can see such difference in the same words - I find that post quite disturbing, a subtle under text of bigotry and xenophobia, how we're more civilised and sophisticated... Sentiments I find divisive and disturbing - apologies

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jul 2, 2016 23:06:46 GMT 1, Lol and crank throws a grenade down the man hole. Sometimes you just gotta do it! People generally don't like looking in the mirror but sometimes they need to. As I have said before, this country is lurching towards the right. People will try and defend racist and xenophobia propaganda as 'freedom of speech' but it still leaves a bad taste in many people's mouths. The Leave poster 'We are at breaking point' was perfectly legal but was just nasty right wing racism at it's ugliest. Sadly it hit the mark with many people on the Leave side and played on their sheer ignorance. Even Boris wasn't stupid enough to actually believe any of this which is why he's done a runner. UKIP are now playing the tune which so many people now seem to dance to. Just look at the comments on the UKIP FB page and you'll soon see past the flash suits of Nigel Farage to see the kind of people who support them. The sad thing is that many of the people who decry UKIP as bigots have just played right into their hands and increased their power and influence. The country has just taken a huge step backwards. [
If the thread has taught me one thing, it's that self analysis isn't the preserve of 'some'

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jul 2, 2016 11:52:07 GMT 1, Can we please all stop pointing out that the FTSE 100 is up to use that as 'proof' that the economy is fine. The FTSE 100 is mainly made up of foreign companies taking advantage of a weak Pound. The FTSE 250 is a much more broad and accurate barometer for how out money is looking right now. Te governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, has said that the BoE is prepared to pump ยฃ250 billion pounds into the economy as a emergency measure, has warned of a looming recession and has said that the outcome is 'bleak'. He is a far more astute and clever money man than I will ever be and I would say more than anybody on here. He has no reason to put any 'spin' on anything so I believe him far more than any 'snippets of facts' coming from the pro Leave camp. The fact that Farage criticised his outlook shows just what a snivelling clueless littles**t Farage is. So to recap: Pound has fallen Racist attacks up 500% FTSE250 has nose dived Boris has effectively done a runner as he never wanted to leave. UKIP now have a bigger toehold in uk politics. Mark Carney predicts major problems ahead. Scotland very like to have 2nd referendum and split the union. Spain trying to grab Gibraltar in joint sovereignty. For the first time ever Gibraltar are actually considering it. Cornwall, one of the UK's poorest regions, demanding the ยฃ60 million a year the EU gave them. Several large employers considering moving HQs abroad Tatar Steel deal fell through due to uncertainty of Brexit. Savers will be hit hard when interest rates get cut. But, hey, none of his matters as we all 'took our country back' and 'made Britain great again'
Facts and evidence the preserve of elitist snobs im afraid !

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jul 2, 2016 3:57:45 GMT 1, Or maybe elistism. Snobbery. Establishment. People that look down on others. Bullies. Education or intellect doesn't make someone automatically right. I find it amazing that a lot of card carrying socialist that like to promote freedom of speech and equality love to look down on others in the name of intellect. Some of the most well educated people I've ever met happen to be some of the dumbest people too. But that's only the opinion of a working class lad with only one degree.
Education and intellect doesn't make someone right, constructing a well thought out case, based on factual evidence rather than subjective opinion does help though.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jul 1, 2016 22:43:43 GMT 1, Gonna be a matter of who blinks first. If you want to pick a fight make sure you hit the biggest or loudest bloke first. I'm not sure who we are supposed to be fighting. Most likely intellectualism.

Why has Banksy abandoned making art for the common collector?, by nex on Jun 27, 2016 9:40:00 GMT 1, It's pretty clear why banksy stopped publicly releasing prints but let's go over it one more time:
- the releases whether online or queue became bun fights of monumental proportions, ppl complaining they had a print in their basket and then it crashed or ppl complaining that ppl pushed in the queues.
- he couldn't win, our greed and pettiness made it a nightmare.
- he released a lot of prints over the years
- he could make more money from much much less hassle by selling to a few
- he used this money to find ny and dismaland
- many fans are pissed off with this decision, but you know
Rock and roll deal with it
Now just a reminder we're in the politics section of the forum, you want to discuss art, discuss it where it should be, be proactive and stop moaning

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jun 24, 2016 2:28:19 GMT 1, What's clearly unfolding is those people hardest hit by the governments austerity measures are hitting out at Europe. Just terribly sad and will actually lead to those very same people being in a worse position. I think that's right nex.
Unfortunately people's fears, insecurities and hardships have been turned against them.

Brexit & Pricing - , by nex on Jun 16, 2016 6:35:52 GMT 1, do you think boris Johnson and farage are for the average Joe ? Aren't they politicians? See above.
Oops yes the point I was clumsily making is I don't know how anyone could place those two at the front of an argument which would help the working class (not that you were)

Brexit & Pricing - , by nex on Jun 16, 2016 5:06:41 GMT 1, If this comes across as patronising, i don't care... i think it is funny that those who are in the unskilled jobs in this country are mostly the ones feeling hard done by and voting to exit. However they are digging their own graves by being so ill informed and for the most part, racist. They will be the very first ones to find themselves in a recession and jobless. Banging your chest shouting engeeerrrrlandd is all very well, but those people will be the first to moan again when they are all f**ked. i dont think those sort of people should be allowed to vote as their opinions are ill informed. im in, but i sort of want it to go tits up to show all those morons what they did. Ill informed? ย Theres some pretty big sweeping generalisations in there mate.... You clearly believe leaving the EU will f*cks**t up for people, yet it could be argued ANY change is better than the current status quo in GB. With the sustained attack on lower class living by the Govt is it any surprise these so-called ill informed types have had enough...? Politicians aren't working FOR the Average Joes. They are working against them. If leaving the EU gives hope that there could be change for the better, why would you want to keep it the way it is, when for the average working class family things are getting harder and harder?? Perhaps, by and large, the Banksy Forum is hardly a microcosm of Brit society. Theres lots of lovely lolly being waved around here, afterall.

America and guns.........again !!!, by nex on Jun 13, 2016 23:15:55 GMT 1, Ah, yes, hadn't thought of that. I can see where you are coming from. Thanks. Is that why it was blocked? Or was it blocked because it would be unconstitutional? The problem with that would be how does one get added to the terrorist watch list? Is it an arbitrary process that could be abused to keep guns out of those who are critical of the government or..? I've read an article about a professor from Columbia who was added to the no fly list because of a televised lecture critical of GW Bush.

America and guns.........again !!!, by nex on Jun 13, 2016 21:47:20 GMT 1, No ones saying don't buy your blessed guns, just put in place background checks and maybe just question the need to buy weapons that pump hundreds of bullets out in a second. Whilst you're at it invest in your social care system so disaffected American youths feel they have a productive place in the world (that last point can be said for most of the western world).
I didn't understand trumps logic about controlling immigration too, when this horrific act was homegrown?

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jun 11, 2016 12:59:23 GMT 1, The video of Kurds attacking Turks or vice versa shows clearly how racist towards each other these people can be. Plus anyone who feels that because someone is a so called ethnic minority they deserve special treatment or excused is either naive or racist themselves towards the people of the country that these migrants have arrived in. Ethnicity and skin color makes no difference to me. These people are smart enough to travel through many countries and demand their rights in European countries so are smart enough to know the law of the country they move to and abide by that countries laws. If people move to a country for benefits and money and insult that countrys laws or abuse them whilst following the doctrine of another country. Then as far as i'm concerned they don't deserve to be there. Yes luvvies, racism works both ways. Have people lost their pride so much that they blame the victims for being attacked by people who are mysoginsts and racists? People are people and there should be one law for all. Religion and religious law should not take priority over a countries secular laws. This response bares no connection nor merit to the reason why the video should not have been posted.

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jun 11, 2016 9:19:06 GMT 1, I'm glad Seba has listed the truth behind this video. This stuff needs to be called out as misleading propaganda by the media so public can make informed judgements about what's going and not believe that refugees are attacking innocent people. People are being swayed by seeing things like this. As for some members deluded posts about me you should be ashamed, at no point have I defended or promoted these videos as truth but merely brought it to people's attention as to why the British public might want to leave the EU. I also don't believe that there are many true racist people in the UK. There are many ignorant and frustrated people that are choosing to blame minority's for their own failings and the failings of people in power but branding that as simply racist and shouting people down for asking questions doesn't help. kunstrasen and seba I applaud you for both keeping this on an adult level where things are debated and and questions answered and not for resorting to low level name calling.
You have a responsibility to the truth not to post any bs you find online promoting your world view - end of.
You should be ashamed of yourself quite frankly .

The UK's EU Referendum - 23rd June 2016., by nex on Jun 11, 2016 8:07:58 GMT 1, Have to say I'm utterly appalled iamzero's video post was being allowed here, considering its misleading racist propaganda of the worst kind. Very poor show banksy forum, very poor show. I'm sorry that I'm posting again but this sort of issue is important to me. I have to add that I completely understand your point of view though I'm of slightly different opinion. Due to iamzero posting the video and massive thanks to seba we all now know about the true events occuring in this horrible video, that it was indeed taken out of context as expected, and that it is nothing but a horrible lie. Didn't we prove exactly that is was only nothing but misleading racist propaganda of the worst kind even to those wondering? As many reseraches have shown rasicem oh so often occures where there is a lac of information combined with a disability to consider of the given situation. By avoiding the issue misleading racist propaganda can simply spread within those who don't know better. Therefore I think it's good that even such unpleasant issues are discussed on this forim...in the politics section. One certainly could argue that this sort of stuff should not be discussed on an art forum, well then there should be no politics sections. I personally value that this place gives room to other aspects of life than art even if it means going to very unpleasant issues at times.
I fear this sort of material is used by ppl with no real affinity for the truth, so spreading its evil intent whilst for a group willing to learn is worthwhile it's used by many others for the worst of reasons, I would say that was a certain users intent.
