Banksy Artwork, VALUATION, by nex on Jun 7, 2016 2:37:07 GMT 1, When did the precedent take hold that gallery prices are the accepted value ppl have to pay in Pvt deals? I see a lot of that here these days and it's concerning.

Banksy at Bridge Farm Primary School, by nex on Jun 6, 2016 15:38:39 GMT 1, Bnashky fans going mad over a stik figure. there is a turn up for the books.
The point your so brilliantly missing is there's a little more depth to this than simply a stick figure .

Pejac โข Wound Print, by nex on May 28, 2016 12:20:43 GMT 1, Fascinating discussing something so entirely subjective and saying yes to it being a fact.
personally I find wound displaying the pain we're causing the world with our practices both beautiful and diturbing, in fact, in an entirely similar manner to meadow although perhaps more impactful.

Dolk Rip On / Rip Off May 24th , by nex on May 25, 2016 21:45:29 GMT 1, Feels like there's a lot of trying to justify mediocracy because it's Dolk. Gotta protect dat investment.
It's a bit late for that? Dolks work has been on the slide for years.

Dolk Rip On / Rip Off May 24th , by nex on May 25, 2016 9:31:41 GMT 1, I take it the rip off part will be these pieces torn to reveal something underneath? If not then so far its a load of tosh.
It certainly will take more effort to comprehend than your average urban art piece, plaudits to him trying something new, do I understand it? Nope.

SOLD - Mods please lock thread, by nex on May 25, 2016 1:56:06 GMT 1, Surprised not sold as the charity auction were ยฃ8000 each?
Because that was a charity auction for 4 APs and is not directly comparable to the real world it is just an indicator of interest under a special set of circumstances.

New Os Gรชmeos print, by nex on May 18, 2016 15:36:21 GMT 1, here's a question. Is art meant to be pretty? No, but it's a bonus if it is, satisfying on levels of emotion, visual and even aural all at the same time. So your answer is no
I think most here would disagree

New Os Gรชmeos print, by nex on May 18, 2016 15:22:59 GMT 1, I like the image, it's mysterious and enigmatic. Once again the Os Gemeos central character is peering out of the work, trying to grasp the concept of what it is. It's a challenging idea and piece, certainly way more so than a kid holding an umbrella in rainbow rain

New Os Gรชmeos print, by nex on May 16, 2016 6:36:37 GMT 1, I always thought it represented the two sides of their work, where they came from and how they're moving past it.
So moving away from walls and illegality.
Ps. Anyone wants to sell me their other side I'd like it pls

Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by nex on May 12, 2016 0:03:30 GMT 1, You don't like it. That's fine. I find it strange, haunting and beautiful. I'm not freaking out about it. My admiration for these artists has nothing to do with them being signed to Laz. I shared their work in the artists you might not know thread, before (I think) they were signed to Laz. Sadly, however, I do not own anything by them. Hopefully I will one day. ย I can see plenty of flippers snagging this and building a buzz in here per usual. You can tell by the low post counts and "Hyped up responses". That is expected.ย I think not liking it really is putting it lightly coach for me. Others will like what they want but not only is this scary, haunting and just plain hideous, I truly feel that most people "Jump" when there is anything that has to do with Laz. We see it time and time again. You have already expressed your interest in the Miaz brothers without Laz stamping of approval being your motivation for liking them which is your personal preference of course. I am sure there is plenty available still if you want to grab one. What is worrying me is the direction peoples art interest is heading. When there is a thread about "Anyone else getting bored by urban art?", we should do more then pay attention. Then this kind of art comes out and it makes me think thatย "Anyone else getting bored by urban art?" has merit. [
Fascinating this type of art bares imo absolutely no connection to the derivative tropes that plague urban art. In fact this is only deemed urban art because it's being sold by Laz. It really isn't. The fact you find this haunting, scary and terrible in itself just shows how powerful this piece actually is... That is art at its best...it should evoke emotion.

Anyone else getting bored by urban art?, by nex on May 11, 2016 0:43:53 GMT 1, If we just look at this forum, then it's quite clear people move on having got tired of the repeated tropes that new urban artists bring to the table. Having said that, new members with little to no knowledge of these tropes replace the gone members and the circle goes around again. Although it's slightly smaller and less passionate each time it happens ....

Street Art Banksy & Co. Exhibition, by nex on May 7, 2016 23:30:41 GMT 1, This isn't the Andipa show then either? Lots of Banksy in Italy right now. I'm unsure what to make of this show as I have a lot of respect for Blu and in taking a stand and supporting the artist a lot of other people are now also being prosecuted. We seem to be losing site of real street art and are being spoon-fed sterile curated walls / hoardings. A very well known artist who had a recent pop-up show was telling me that he hasn't seen any decent street-art in London for years as it has been taken over by profiteers curating walls for street art tours....or shows like this. Blu simply took back what he gave as he doesn't want to see work meant for the street to end up in the gallery and now he's and others are prosecuted for it - it is all immensely hypocritical and we really should be supporting artists like Blu who remain true to the whole sub-culture of street-art The saddest thing is this started happening a good 6 years ago and there were people calling it out then... Do you know the reaction of this forum? Utter indifference. This place has never been about 'true' street art it is the offspring of an eBay forum - it's about money. why do you think all I do is buy and sell here?

Warning:BAB/ultraluxuries at it again. S&S ebay scam! , by nex on Apr 30, 2016 2:32:45 GMT 1, Thanks for this, it's always useful to have pointed out less than honest behaviour particularly when buyers may well be looking to part with large amounts of money.
For my part I was offered a nola, but wasn't shown proof they were his pics, nor given references, nor shown the coa ... Plus the above in this thread I'll not be taking any further.

New DRAN solo show 2016, by nex on Apr 25, 2016 0:55:45 GMT 1, Not sure how well the show last year went. I actually didn't mind being mugged off on the first night but plenty of other people didn't see the funny side. I think the prints added to the disappointment. There was plenty of excitement in the build up and then the prints were just awful. Hoping he nails this show though. I would venture out there for it but it's a pretty long way to go for potentially one pic and a wheel of cheese. Once bitten...
People weren't 'mugged off'they simply didn't understand that they were seeing the last night of the show not the first, more fool them.

New DRAN solo show 2016, by nex on Apr 24, 2016 22:32:30 GMT 1, Last year Dran seemed to be the artist most people were talking about the most, yet recently I have really noticed that same buzz! Any reason for that? I'm not a fan of his work I find it a bit dull.
My recollection is slightly different. Dran had been quiet for a number of years so talk and speculation had quietened... Then his show was conceptually challenging and didn't provide flippers with the wrequired crowd pleasing images to get too excited. For my money drans last show was conceptually the best thing to happen in this scene outside of banksys work in years and years.

WCP The West Country Prince, by nex on Apr 8, 2016 3:56:01 GMT 1, If you're only concerned about the Banksy image, you could print one yourself for less money and in reasonably good quality from images available online. Regarding the fakes churned out by West Country Prince, here are three questions to ask yourself: 1. As a fan of Banksy's art, are you also interested in Banksy's previously-stated views about the unauthorised reproduction of his work for commercial sale (as opposed to non-commercial personal use)? 2. How strong is your desire to own an unauthorised cheap copy of Banksy's work that was produced for commercial sale? 3. Does that desire override any qualms you may have about (i) disregarding the preferences expressed by the artist himself or (ii) lining the pockets of an intellectual property thief and parasite like West Country Prince? the above is all that needs to be said.
