Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Martin M on Jul 15, 2022 9:17:48 GMT 1, I think that blue frame really detracts from the actual piece, the art is colourful enough -not my cup of tea

Paula Rego, by Martin M on Jun 8, 2022 14:46:49 GMT 1, RIP Paula Rego who passed away this morning.
It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of the Portuguese-born, British artist Dame Paula Rego at the age of 87. She died peacefully this morning, after a short illness, at home in North London, surrounded by her family. Our heartfelt thoughts are with her children, Nick, Cas and Victoria Willing, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
โPaula Rego was a phenomenal artist. From a very young age she pursued her own path, creatively and in life. She was enormously independent, spirited and determined. Her ground-breaking works in painting, drawing and printmaking are direct and urgent.
Consistently challenging the status quo, she will be remembered as one of the most important and influential artists from the past seventy years. We are honoured to have had the opportunity to work with Paula. She will be missed tremendously.โ Director David Cleaton-Roberts

The Message Wagons by Mรคrklin x Modern Artists, by Martin M on Jun 5, 2022 11:54:21 GMT 1, Did anyone get one of the 2nd edition Haring trains yesterday from Marklin? I thing they are great, got a little one. Didnโt get an email from Mรคrklin until after the event to tell me they were sold out Got the first one, which I love, and wouldโve liked a look at this one as well. How did you find out they were on sale? Is there a different email list Iโm not on? Congrats on getting one, anyway, as they are really great for the price! i just got a standard email last week and actually set an alarm for once to get one.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Martin M on May 29, 2022 12:33:29 GMT 1, Finally up on the wall. I've had the Hoyland for years but at 2m x 1m never had a wall big enough! after a little remodelling of the house I now have space. Both of these were created in 1971, Two great artists, both from Leeds who came down to London to make it as painters - The rest is history.

London Art Fair 2022, by Martin M on Apr 27, 2022 18:32:06 GMT 1, I think I've been to just about every London Art Fair and had some great nights. Its my favourite show of the year. I went on the preview night and i must admit overall i thought it was really lacking this time around. It was nice to have a chat with Charlotte Keates at Arusha Gallery and catch up with Dario at Jealous, but it didn't seem too busy at all, even the VIP lounge was generally empty. Free drinks by Campari - big mistake, you can only drink a few - bring back the glasses of wine all over the place, a lot more art will be bought! Saw a few nice prints below and spotted a Radar Rat for ยฃ325K!!

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Productโข, by Martin M on Apr 13, 2022 6:51:53 GMT 1, Just received a dreadful reply from Pest Control regarding my request for a COA: "Your Banksy Authentication Request has been closed. The information and/or images you have provided to accompany your Banksy authentication request are insufficient and do not meet the requirements needed to continue. The request has been closed. Please resubmit here: pestcontroloffice.com and provide all the requested data. Note: this is an unmonitored no-reply email account. Thank you." I went back to the folder of my saved images that I submitted to Pest Control and I can't for the life of me figure out what I could have missed. I sent them everything I had, Bill of Lading from air freight, original purchase order, edition # (photo of edition card as well), original packaging and unsealing requirements, email correspondence with GDP and photos required to submit. The only items of variability for me are if they wanted me to submit the true measurement of the print as it is not an exact 70cm x 70cm per the original listing. My framer had measured it out to closer 71cm x 70.5 cm. Or... and this is the big one for me that has me spinning... I didn't use my original purchase address in the opening entry of the authentication form, but i explained that i closed my old office and was no longer in business there. I used my current mailing address, but provided detail on the move and attempts to update my address with them. Sigh.. Anyone have any ideas or hear back from Pest Control regarding their request for a COA? I am debating to try and resubmit with my original address and hope i can get the post office to forward any inbound mail... Not sure what to do. Youโre the original purchaser from GDP, and they denied your COA request? Damn, thatโs nonsense. There has to be a way to correct that wrong. Iโd reach out again, and continue to do so until itโs resolved.
I just had the exact same with two definite Banksy purchased at source. Sent really good photos, receipts etc. I got a print out how to take photos??

Damien Hirst H10 โข The Empresses, by Martin M on Feb 7, 2022 20:46:58 GMT 1, Hi Guys On another note, I visited the Heni Gallery today to take a look at the The print I chose: H10-4 Suiko, I must say the pictures do not do them justice, they are truly stunning in person! I chose Suiko because to me it just instantly said DH, I have always been a fan of his butterfly works, and the symmetry in this one is just perfect, I also liked it was named after the first female to rule Japan. For anyone that has purchased one of these I'm sure you will not be disappointed, I know I wasn't! personally I can't wait to hang it on my wall, probably framed in a black box frame with white float mount, but I will see when it arrives. Totally agree, i went for Suiko as well for the same reasons and seeing it in the gallery confirmed my choice.

Damien Hirst H10 โข The Empresses, by Martin M on Feb 4, 2022 16:20:11 GMT 1, The big story with the virtues report was that the edition with the lowest number did miles better than all the others which did about the same. So if youโre looking at this for an investment perspective you have to pick the crappiest one that you think no one will want. Then when it gets the lowest edition, it will be the one that everyone wants. What a great game "IF you're looking at this from an investment..."?
There's pretty much one reason alone people are buying these.
We had a discussion about this at the gallery today. The crappiest one will obviously have the lowest edition size, and it was indicated which one that is, but itโs still the crappiest one if you go to sell it, so having a low edition doesnโt make it more valuable than the best one. I think that makes sense!

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Martin M on Nov 17, 2021 22:11:08 GMT 1, Hi Mooncub It seemed to 4 at a time max. Although we went in the first room just the two of us. The first room with the chandelier was a little underwhelming in my opinion, the second room was brilliant.

Laz Emporium โข Steve Lazarides , by Martin M on Nov 14, 2021 18:49:12 GMT 1, Going through some old catalogues today, found this.....
It was a ยฃ5K invite to a night out where you would win an original piece by the participating artists - Connor Harrington, Invader, Banksy, Micallef, JR, to name a few. I remember the event being cancelled in the end, something to do with the gaming commission if i remember. would have been great to score a banksy canvas for 5K!

Julian Opie ๐ฌ๐ง Statuette โข Pop Art Portrait โข Lenticular , by Martin M on Sept 19, 2021 8:46:32 GMT 1, Love some of Opie's work but for some reason i'm not a fan at all of the French Village series. Don't see anything that reminds me of a French village. The architecture is neither charming nor modern; it just reminds me of a badly rendered 3D environment from a computer game of the 1990s. like the statue, thanks for sharing When i was sent the PDF of the show i thought similar re the French Village series, but seeing them in the flesh changed my mind immediately. If we had a wall big enough we would have had one!

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Martin M on Aug 22, 2021 11:20:42 GMT 1, I would be pretty nervous selling the NFT and actually getting the cash in my bank. A question for everyone that has sold already....has anyone actually put the sale money into $ or ยฃ into their account? I haven't actually sold mine nor put the $ or ยฃ into my account, so my contribution might not be of any value to you. But I know for a fact that plenty of others have. And I have traded in crypto, moved funds between different kinds of tokens and accounts, converted crypto to fiat and withdrawn it to my bank. The system works. Try not to panic or give in to fear and dread. This isn't some kind of scam set up to steal money from the unwary. Just take it slow, seek plenty of advice along the way, and make sure you know what you're doing at each step of the process. Try to be calmand patient. It will work. You will be okay. It can seem complicated, but it's also quite straightforward, if that isn't too much of a contradiction. I would advise putting all the pieces you'll need in place first. Start by getting yourself an account on an exchange like coinbase, and when it's set up, connect it to your regular bank account. That will take care of two things: how you will change your crypto into fiat and how you're going to withdraw the fiat. If the idea of connecting a crypto exchange to your main bank account makes you nervous, set up a new bank account just for the purpose. That will make sure (though it isn't necessary) that your existing assets are protected. Once that's done, try moving small amounts of money (literally a pound/dollar or two) between the exchange and your bank. Make sure they arrive. This will reassure you that the process works and that you're in control of it. Same applies for moving assets in your metamask wallet between the Palm network (assuming you're selling on the Heni marketplace) and the main Ethereum network. Start small. Make sure it works. Make sure you know what you're doing. The idea is to get familiar with all the various tools and steps involved, so that you aren't trying to learn how they work at the same time as you're dealing with significant amounts of money. As I say, take it slow, and ask for advice if you aren't sure of anything. If you do that, it will be okay... People do it all the time, and it really does work. Thank you for the advice Rockbeer, much appreciated. I think ive just got old bloke/new things fear!

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Martin M on Aug 22, 2021 10:07:23 GMT 1, Was lucky and got one of these and plan to keep it. All this secondary pricing variations based on all these various colour, density tag, word and rarity etc parameters does smell like โthe emperors new clothesโ to me though. Iโm struggling to understand it too. Very easy to get carried away with projected NFT prices. I really had planned on exchanging for the physical but if NFT is north of $50k then the decision becomes much harder. Surely many will feel the same? yep, me too. Totally don't get the NFT stuff, and I am aiming to put the paper version on the wall, but if prices are really heading beyond 50K thats a dilemma, albeit a nice dilemma to have!
