Charlotte Keates ๐ฌ๐ง Painting โข Print Release โข For Sale, by Martin M on Jul 14, 2021 9:45:36 GMT 1, Few fairly rubbish pics here from the show, would really recommend it these don't do the paintings justice. Will try to post more tomorrow. Would love to be able to afford the bigger ones on show - though they are all sold out anyway. Single colour drawings also look incredible. Standard book without print and the new print is also available there to take away and book is nice quality IMHO with cloth cover etc.
I went last night, great show and some really great work by Charlotte. As always, Charlotte was lovely and Bella and the gallery staff are really great and welcoming. I thought the print was really nice. It was great to be in town at an art evening again

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Martin M on Jul 13, 2021 11:19:48 GMT 1, Field by Antony Gormley. A wonderful bit of framing by our local framer as specified by Gomley's studio. Oak frame two pack bleaching (whatever that is!) museum glass etc etc. the frame is really thin so a sub frame had to be made on the reverse. Its huge and one of my favourite pics i've ever had in the house. Sneaky Emin from Counter Editions turned up the same day!

The Message Wagons by Mรคrklin x Modern Artists, by Martin M on Jul 2, 2021 20:39:19 GMT 1, Mรคrklin transports the messages from the past into the present โ with the Message Wagons. A collectorโs edition that gets the issues of our time back on track. In collaboration with renowned international artists and with their attitudes โ more actual than ever. www.maerklin-messagewagons.comFirst edition will be with Keith Haring.ย Updates on edition size will follow.ย Friend of mine is involved in the project. Is that an item that could be desirable for collectors?ย Also, which artist would you like to see on the message wagon?ย Looking forward to your feedback.
Thanks for the heads up on this.. I bought the little one.

Art Insurance in the UK, by Martin M on Jun 23, 2021 11:41:21 GMT 1, I use Brownhill. Hiscox wouldnโt insure me, but passed me onto an art insurance broker. I did have a pretty good ADT alarm, but with mental Banksy prices I had to upgrade to a dual path (whatever that is!) police/fire response commercial system. Do remember, it seems, that you may have insurance, but if your house has crap window/door locks (like mine did) they will definitely not be paying out in the case of a claim

Charlotte Keates ๐ฌ๐ง Painting โข Print Release โข For Sale, by Martin M on May 23, 2021 10:55:06 GMT 1, Went to see Charlotte's work at the Group show at the very nice CristeaRoberts gallery in Pall Mall yesterday. Had a great art chat with Alan Cristea, could of chatted for hours - very nice guy, hugely connected in the art world, and some great stories about Patrick Heron and John Holland, artists i collect. Excellent, planning on dropping in on Tuesday on first trip into London in a year. May go to Neon Gallery as well. Any other good exhibitions on? Rodin is meant to be amazing - trouble is everything is totally booked up. We settled for lunch at OXO overlooking the river, so nice to be out and in this great city

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Martin M on Feb 18, 2021 23:17:06 GMT 1, Do you mind if I ask you how much did they charge you for that badass tube? Really wish you could purchase one of them Field terracotta figures, These was thousands made hope they didnt end up in a dump, guess there in storage somewhere. I would love a few of them, remember seeing them in 2007 at the Hayward - captivating stuff!

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Martin M on Feb 18, 2021 23:12:45 GMT 1, A rainy grey day, and this turned up! "Field" by Antony Gormley from Edition Copenhagen - who were brilliant to deal with and I've never seen such bomb proof packaging!! To the framers tomorrow, can't wait. Banksyโข Thrower print, Gross Domestic Productโข, by Martin M on Feb 13, 2021 17:59:07 GMT 1, Pest Control can't control every sale but they can see who has COA in their name and never sold a print. This way they can see who is selling what. Said that I think anybody in a difficult time and with a print stick on the wall that it is valued big money had the right to sell it. What I do not understand is people that had access to a private sell directly from PC selling just after few month that is totally unrespectfully. In 2011 I lost my job but still had a mortgage to pay. It was quite scary as I was 38 at the time and I'd never been out of work. I knew I couldn't get another job in my field quickly (had been trying already for about a year) and that I couldn't make it for more than 6 months on my savings. I made the difficult decision to sell a few prints and go back to uni to do a masters. I then retrained over two years (on minimum wage) and landed the job I always wanted. During that time I also met my wife. So I may have ended up on a blacklist for selling, if there is such a thing. I always meant to buy back what I'd sold but prices ran away. I will forever be grateful to POW and Banksy for giving me a safety net in some really affordable art. Without it, I would have been in huge trouble. It does, however, irk me a little to see these so called VIPs getting multiple sets of GDP works. I don't think they appreciate how much of a life saver high value items are to "regular" folks. Anyway, I lost some Banksys but I kept my home, gained a new career, a wife and we have two kids now. I also managed to hold on to my favourite print so it wasn't a complete loss. I will, no doubt, have to part with it one day as the kids grow up but for now it's a great reminder of how I got through a really difficult period. I'm not sure how things would have turned out for me if it wasn't for the generosity of Banksy and the POW team. It is greatly appreciated. As for the OP, GLWS but please put some of the proceeds towards a good cause too. It will make a difference. Great post Sivermyn - good luck to you

Art collection book, by Martin M on Feb 8, 2021 12:07:18 GMT 1, Hi All
Does anyone have any ideas/links to ways to catalogue their art collection? I seem to remember someone on here a while back producing a great catalogue from an online template. Time on my hands and something i've always wanted to have a go at.
Any info welcomed.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Martin M on Jan 29, 2021 18:25:56 GMT 1, New arrival today They are very nice indeed I agree. I have one, as do both my kids. There are small clear plastic plate holders on amazon that, whilst not looking particularly attractive at first sight, are effective and unobtrusive when they plate sits on them. Cheap as chips. Thanks Coach, i'll have a look. I seem to remember Antiques Roadshow always going on about how to hang plates properly, without damaging them

Good spot Kfroms, one of my favourites. Here you go

Back from the framers today. Super pleased with a great frame job. The framer managed to attach the rat to a thin back board with tiny hinges, then mount on foam core, raised from the back.
One thing i would warn anyone that has one of these is the paper is very delicate and not great quality. I framed it DIY last year in a basic ikea frame with a mount (I didn't know they would start to be quite valuable!) and having reframed it, now the far edges had already slightly faded under the mount, thats in 6 months! Beware anyone that has a mount around theirs. Im not bothered as i'm not selling.
