Your latest Art Purchase?, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 6, 2011 22:40:41 GMT 1, Quite interesting story though on the artist itself. If anyone care to check it out his name is Frans Krajsberg.
@ rperry : check out the Picasso aquatint at the upcoming Dreweatts sale, it's lovely (look like an ink)

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 6, 2011 22:19:00 GMT 1, Lol it's not an etching mate..... It's a watercolour on molded paper 100% sure.
Edit : I see now what you meant Rob. But the white part is a mount. The paper is taped to the mount in the back.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 6, 2011 21:24:13 GMT 1, A funny story for today!
I thought I would clear some room. I bought a lot when I started collecting prints about 10 years ago when I was a naive youngster. Lot of (illegal sometimes) classic lithographs (often later reprints or reproductions) with facsimile signature. Stuff you don't know when you start lol. I spent a (large) fair amount of cash at the time. I thought I would make a sell everything for less than £20 (there are still nice pieces but no investment pieces though).
I have a special portfolio with cheap/fake/unknown stuff etc etc...
Anyway, wanted to check them before puting them online. I open the (hidden) portfolio & the first I found is the following piece :
It's a watercolour on molded paper. It was a gift I got about a year ago from an art expert (in my family). It was a "Take this, you can sell it & keep the cash!" gift.
Anyway, never really paid attention to it as I didn't find it really attractive. I gave it a closer look today.
I finally found out a signature :
Read : "Krajcberg 54 or 64".
I then checked prices databases telling myself :"Is this guy known or worth anything? lol"
I then find this :
www.christies.com/lotfinder/LotDetailsPrintable.aspx?intObjectID=5317098
I'm quite shocked as you can imagine!

Dreweatts Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 5, 2011 20:47:01 GMT 1, Some incredible art and editions there Wiz for a fraction of what some of the nonsense on this forum trades for. Old school rocks. I second that. Just saw a signed Picasso litho for cheaper than most of the stuff that goes through here
Don't have the energy to check every pages, what lot was that?
You can get a signed print from an old master for less than £3K/£4K which seems to be the price for the newest signed mr B!

Dreweatts Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 5, 2011 20:15:09 GMT 1, I had the chance to see a large collection of sutherland prints not that long ago and I was amazed at quality of the printing. His prints may be one the most impressive in terms of quality I've seen. Deeps colors, amazing details. I know you can still scrap some of his cheaply (not the ones in this auction though).
Always like Sam Francis, especially the larger prints!

8 Matching CYW's on Ebay, by Brushstrokes 75 on Jun 2, 2011 9:49:12 GMT 1, why would you think its an inside source? Quick to point the finger at POW again innit From reading the stories, there seemed to be people with mates in the queue - so its more then probable thats how they got these. Would you spend that sort of money with a seller who has 1 feedback and each print doesnt have a COA? A valid point JV - I would imagine it's more than likely that 3/4 (for example) were bought from source ie. the Russian mafia or the Peruvian family (!), with perhaps the rest acquired on the secondary market - a set could well sell for a large premium so not a bad tactic (the latter bit anyhow!).
Not sure if putting them into a set is such a good idea.. I can't round myself seing why the set would add a premium.
Normally, it should be the opposite even for tough to find sets (ex : Warhol Marilyn). (I mean if it wasn't released as her portfolio of some kind).
Anyway, set of 10, £600K which gives a print at £60K average... Individually some of the series sells for up to £120K.
Usually, I think people buy sets because it provides a cheaper price average & no premium.
I guess that it's easier for someone to pull £4K instead of £3K on a print if they really want it than add premium for a set...

Roy Lichtenstein 🇺🇸 Pop Art • Whaam • Print For Sale, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 29, 2011 16:19:50 GMT 1, 2K for a unsigned Lichtenstein That aint a ballpark figure THAT AS TO BE A WORLD RECORD PRICE FIGURE !!
I'm sure an authentic unsigned shipboard girl is worth a lot more than that...
I agree that the price on this one was a bit steep but it's not a £100 poster.
The signed version of this one (which is just the same but authographes) sold up to £10K....

Tips for trip to Paris......., by Brushstrokes 75 on May 27, 2011 19:45:17 GMT 1, Come on brushstrokes get the finger out ;D
Sorry mate,
Didn't see this thread until now!
It depends what you want to do lol
If you want to check out some great street art. Have to go to Vitry, outside Paris (about 20 min from the center, in the south east).
Not the best place to hang out (as it can be a bit dangerous, prefer to precise) but hometown to C215 and a lot of international artists came to pose there (including a few members) def one of the place to check out.
In Paris, you should check out the North East, where a lot of parisian artists went to pose. JR/Blek/Jef Aerosol/Mosco....
Hit me up & I'll let you know anything.
