For Sale: Vermin, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 22, 2011 22:51:47 GMT 1, Looks like I have enough matching for the Vermin Canvas (that I'll sell at my cost no more no less), so please for the moment. I put it on hold. It's not sold but I feel like I have enough solid interest.
As for the the JR Eyes Froissé, I bought it from source so my cost is just the price of the print + its shipping which was a total of 685 euros (around £600).
Thanks for the comments made above!

Actually, offered mine to phear as I was thinking of getting a big commission soonish (it was more a maybe than an actual offer. Would really fancy a 2m x 1m (or something that size)! I got a good deal off a forum member who got a commission done so would pass on the favour if I was to get something big!

sorted, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 17, 2011 19:21:54 GMT 1, Tricky question but dedication as always been a big question. Different opinions, some people think the give the print more value (especially if the person who got the print is famous), usually it doesn't change anything or people have the opposite opinion (unless they bear the same name! lol).
Funny story got offered some print from a major artist yesterday by an old collector who trimmed the dedication in the margin at the bottom of the page.
Anyway, I wouldn't regard it as signed print but dedicated & an HC (or gift print was people call it here) rather than an AP.
It's great print none the less!

Art Appraisal • Art Valuation for Insurance, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 17, 2011 19:04:13 GMT 1, Auction houses can do inventories for free... They come to your house or they do a preliminary one via email. so it would be a good start.
You can hire an appraiser to do it but it will cost you some money (5%-10% of the whole appraised value). By the way, there's a difference between appraised values (what they are worth) & replacement values (what it's worth to replace them). A lot of people tend to give their insurers appraised values when they should be giving replacement value.

Are the Americans killing Urban Art?, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 13, 2011 11:17:58 GMT 1, I join johnny there.
The market size is totally different. If you count US + Canada, the population is almost 350 million (2010 numbers).
Problem with Mr B. for example is that people rush to buy without knowing what exactly is going to be released. Last release, people start queuing without knowing the colourway or the edition size!
Then, people tends to only buy names over something they like. At least as bali said, you can choose something you like.
Afterwards, you're talking about people spending money on lower quality art because quality art is released less often. Not really sure about that. Personal question : Gibs, Did you buy any MBW print lately? Answer is probably no. So I'm not sure that markets completely overlap here. There might be a few MBW collector buying into Banksy stuff, but I'm not sure the number is as large the other way around.
I think it's quite normal that there would be more American street artist than British or European (law of numbers! lol). There's quality & s***t everywhere, it's just that some s***tty ones managed to be great marketers.
Can we stop complaining about Mr Brainwash & his team painting for him? People complaining about that really have to re-read art history. It's not something new in the art world and it doesn't make him less of an artist. The TOP3 major contemporary artists are working the same way : Koons, Hirst & Murakami... I'm pretty sure that even if you go back in time you'll find out that some artists had their students paint for them (different category but same idea).
Anyway, just buy what you like, don't buy what you don't. Anyone isn't killing anything, it just gives more available choice and it will put quality pieces higher. As long as people keep going to the streets, urban art will be alive!

Are the Americans killing Urban Art?, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 13, 2011 1:03:45 GMT 1, I reassure anyone doubting but MBW never sold s**t in France lol
MBW has a wider base than most urban artist and I would consider him to be more of a pop "artist" (if you can call him that) than a street artist. He just used street art to launch himself.
Edit : Wait for chinese collectors to get into street art and you'll have your next bubble!

anime type art required, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 13, 2011 0:40:51 GMT 1, Hush & Io Zarate (nice discovery) is closer to mangaka's work.
I've been a huge manga fan in my teens (use to have a massive collection with over 2000 tome) & on the artist mentionned the 2 quote are the closest thing to the real deal.
Why note try to find some stuff made by the mangaka themselves? I'm sure there are some stuff in Japan (Drawings or paintings for some or art cells).

MBW, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 13, 2011 0:31:23 GMT 1, Can't believe you're all so blind. Regardless of whether he sells these or not, he'll SAY he has, ergo, raising the price bar for next time. It's so transparent I'm amazed no-one has worked it out.
Something I don't get with your comment. What's the point of raising the price if you don't sell any at a lower price?
Taking away what can cause hype to the volume of demand, I'm pretty sure that the demand is relatively elastic [For non economic people, elastic demand means that percentage change in quantity demanded is greater than the percentage change in price].
He might just be trying to maximize his revenues that's all. He sells out in 10s at $400.. He only has to consistently find 125 people to pay $1,000 for his print which seems to be highly doable..
Anyway, to come back to your comment. It doesn't make any sense to me. If he says he sold everything at $1,000 (when he only sold 10). Next release will be at $1,500, he's going to sell 5... So doesn't help his cause.

Price check unsigned Banksy's, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 12, 2011 23:59:05 GMT 1, As I said, it was only my personal opinion and in no mean was I stationg reality!
I'm not of a trolley so haven't followed the madness.
However, the ebay sale you're referring to as 90% chance to be fake. This ebay seller has been know to make fake banksy sales. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't refer myself to any prices from this guy.
I would have as well taken the £1.1K offer. It's more than what rats or close to what pulp fiction sold recently!

Price check unsigned Banksy's, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 12, 2011 22:49:30 GMT 1, Prices unframed that are only my personal opinion :
Morons : £600/£730 Toxic Mary : £700/£850 Trolleys : £650/£750
This ebay sale des is reffering too went quite cheap. Seller also had a morons for sale that reach £610 and an IFTL around £800. Another TM sold the same week for £820 (on the bay). But both sales were limited to UK only so don't know if it would have gone higher. Seems like US collectors have been the one to drive the price up lately.
As I said price quoted only reflects my personal opinion and in no way the market reality!

Zevs 🇨🇵 Liquidated Trademarks • Logo Street Art , by Brushstrokes 75 on May 9, 2011 15:14:19 GMT 1, Really I don't mind anymore. I just think the situation was quite ironic. (Sorry if I got your name calling wrong, it's true that I might be a chump but who isn't?)
Anyway Good luck with the sale, I'm sure you'll sell it as 2 on ebay sold for more than £400.
How is the print in the flesh?
Edit : Bottom Line is : Don't accuse others unless you have the fact straight & don't do it unless you're irreproachable.
Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone I recall.

Re: Josh Keyes - The Cerberus Project - new print, by Brushstrokes 75 on May 9, 2011 13:40:01 GMT 1, I think that it's a nice return of things.. Doesn't cost much for people to sign up to mailing lists.. At least it shows that you are interested in following what they will do in the future..
I'm glad I signed up as well!
