Haunch of Venison presents its first solo exhibition with Brooklyn based artist Josรฉ Parlรก. This exhibition of new work includes multi-media paintings, incorporating materials and detritus collected from his travels around the world. Language and writing are key themes within Parlรกโs work, which often includes layers of text from street posters or painted calligraphy, always partially obscured and abstracted. Josรฉ Parlรก has exhibited internationally, including major shows in London, New York, Paris Tokyo and Havana.

And not adverse to making prints for shows either... hmmm.
I will need to investigate.

He's still IMO the most exciting artist out there.

I think the original founders of the gallery left but I haven't heard that Christie's have sold the company so I presume it's still a subsidiary.

No hope of getting in on the preview evening for me tho, have emailed them a couple of times and only had digital tumble weed returning. Don't know about the mismanagement in the past but it does seem positive for him (in the wider scheme of things) showing at HoV.
Think I just saw one of the best Parla's I've seen for a while in the 'Get your art out' thread, small sqaure number with a pink to dark brown colour palette... edible!

I love his more normal dark brown/black colour palette with the opaque white caligraphy intertwined within it but this seems slightly different, eye candy for sure!
