They will sell the big ticket stuff straight to the hedge funders.
Poor people no longer need to apply to look at the work.

Parla - Haunch Of Venison, by Feral Things on Feb 2, 2013 14:53:31 GMT 1, Reading between the lines of what HoV/Christies are saying, I presume that Haunch of Venison will be closing in all but name and Christie's will be just using the Mayfair space. Very sad day for the majority of their employees who will have to find new jobs and all the artists who will have to find new representation; not an easy time to be doing either of those things unfortunately. Although the Parlรก show is all new works, I'm presuming this will be one of their last primary shows.

The plan is for the New York gallery, which opened in Chelsea in 2011, to close in March, while the process for the London gallery is still officially in a consultation period, in accordance with UK employment law. Paton says that Christieโs is also working towards finding โsuitableโ work for the Haunch of Venison staff

Does anyone know what the background is to these rag sculptures? I've assumed that they're made up of the rags which he uses when he's painting and that they kind of tell the story of his painting in the same way that his paintings tell the story of the walls and environments which he's recreating on his canvases. Am I way off the mark? And does anyone have any thoughts on what they're about?

But in all fairness I haven't seen these in person, so have to go by what I see on this interweb.

I personally love his watercolors with the pigments and the way they blend together and would imagine those would be stronger within this show. But in all fairness I haven't seen these in person, so have to go by what I see on this interweb. |
