Give some free stuff away, get people who have slagged him off non-stop over the years down there grabbing as much as they can and actually have a new following of people who now have his work, so hype him up a little bit. Obviously a large amount has been sold on, but this feigned sudden amount of interest in him on this forum has to be questioned. Is it because a few pennies can be made or have people genuinely been won over by his work. No doubt the show is well put together and MBW is a nice man.
The duplicitousness of people though is chucklesome. I for one wish him the best.
Got to give it to Mr. Brainwash he seems to have cracked it. After watching "Exit..." I was prepared to NOT like him or the way he produces art. However, it clearly creates a dialogue about what is art and what is GOOD art. Either way, that is open to interpretation. People hate because he clearly uses ideas of others, but then builds on them. I don't see a lot wrong with that. (Like artists re-making or sampling other songs).
I was impressed - I didn't like everything I saw, but did enjoy quite a few things, including the Beatles painting. Took a bunch of pictures, and MBW himself was very gracious, posing for pictures, signing anything people wanted to.
There was a very nice stencil in the alley outside of a child spray painting "You're never too young to dream big". It was pretty nice, really. All in all, I'm glad I went. Still don't LOVE him, but he earned some of my respect...enough so that I did buy a Beatles print today - I mean, there are 300 of them, but they are pretty cool and GIANT and will look nice framed!
