POW Pictures on Walls, by user2006 on Jan 24, 2022 12:05:08 GMT 1, It was a different time when POW started. Online shopping was in it's infancy and Facebook and Instagram wasn't a thing.
We are now over saturated with artists and images. It's hard to see how the excitement of POW can be replicated. Infact, it cannot be replicated and nor should it be. However, that doesn't mean something new and exciting can't come along. It will need sincere and authentic art with a way of delivering it that's different.
Possibly a rejection of social media and online? Solely focusing on the real life experience?

POW Pictures on Walls, by Bill Hicks on Jan 24, 2022 12:08:34 GMT 1, MANIFESTO
Art is not like other culture because its success is not made by its audience. We, the public, fill concert halls and cinemas every day. We read novels by the millions and buy records by the billions. We, the people, affect the making, the taste and the quality of our culture.
The Art we look at, however, is made by only a select few. A small group create, promote, purchase, exhibit and decide the success of Art. Not more than 5000 people in the world have any real say. When you go to an Art gallery you are simply a tourist waving flags at a parade. A parade where the winner was decided without you.
We want to make Art that charts. We thought of calling it a revolutionary new way to sell Art but it's not revolutionary. It's just cheap.
The malls are coming out of the walls.

POW Pictures on Walls, by k13 on Jan 24, 2022 12:09:49 GMT 1, From 2017 until now, artist from the scene are still the same but none of them decide to create something to promote new artist or at least attempt to pass their message through art for the following generation... unfortunetly in every sector you will find capitalisism manner and greed...but thats why they should had an end on it ?
Is there such a thing as street art any more? Not in terms of a genre or a scene I would say. It was a movement of its time, very exciting to be a part of. Now it’s all just Contemporary Art I suppose and the new galleries and print houses reflect this.

They were print editions. Keep it real was done on really cheap small canvas' there were lots 100x. Mosquito was limited to 15. Kids on Guns same deal but to 25. Mediums, sizes and print techniques vary a lot throughout this first year list but all prints exist.
It gets lost in the plot but for the first year it was almost like collecting underground banksy comics but the variants got a little tricky/expensive just like they do for comic collectors today. Everything was done in multiples though I know the above is wrong -- no disrespect.

They weren't prints though - they were spray painted editioned canvasses

We're agreeing just perception has become different over the years. At the time a canvas was more of a pain in the ass because they made less and it was more expensive. It was a fancy print done in multiples not a canvas painting 1 of 1 at all.

POW Pictures on Walls, by Graham H on Feb 7, 2022 13:37:51 GMT 1, The info you have on the Mosquito being an edition of 15 is incorrect.
There were several versions of the image done on differing size canvases ( 30cm x 20cm , 30cm x 30cm for example ), with differing backgrounds ( Red Stars, Red Cross, Plain background but with blood drips etc ) and most were from editions of 25 - but in most ( if not all ) the artist didnt fulfil all the editions .. this has been noted on some COA's and not on others - so as far as im aware, a definitive confirming how many of each of the editions were completed has never been seen
There were also numerous one offs of differing sizes of the Mosquito on the red / white / blue Banksy perforated stamp background
Im all instances though, they were hand sprayed - and not printed.. so im not sure what your below comment means about them being the same thing.. a print is a print, and a hand sprayed canvas is a hand sprayed canvas ..irrespective of the cost or it being a pain in the ass as you put it
