Ie. a member here was good enough to show us the punk original he purchased and one other piece I think? So yes banksy has made a killing with these select pieces and no need to produce huge print runs for us working class lot!!! Same after the movie people were lucky enough to pick up og's.. Hes living somewhere hot abroad and every so often he gets his elves in London to throw up the odd piece now and again....

Banksy hasn't really delivered in 2012 (except the sewing machine boy) - the Olympics stuff was terrible. 2013 he'll be keeping a low profile too I expect - busy with other stuff in the USA.

It might be that they all had a falling out about money and the fact that one or more of these assistants wanted to go along, spread their wings and all that only to find their hands were tied?!
Have you all thought or at least considered the idea that he's STILL producing work under a different name and location?! Maybe has been for quite some time, years maybe

- I've heard the Dolk thing before about Banksy = Dolk, not making much sense methinks, different leagues of art.
- I've also heard the USA LA/NYC move thing, which I think is the truth. I think that Mr B is taking a break from his work (not sure how completely though, as he seems to have plenty of ideas regularly and he has been prolific) but it certainly seems that he has other things going on...
- Pretty sure he still gets other people to 'help' with executing his works though

As it stands there are people on this board that know EXACTLY what's going on, not to suggest that I'm one of them but don't you think that somebody else could of said something? Somebody with a greater knowledge or are you just interested as you're only interested in when the next print is going to drop?!
Fact is the man is at a point in his career where he can pick and choose, and, if I was a betting man I would look more at the Directing avenue for his future whilst still producing works of art! Chris Morris has done exactly the same thing, now Directing episodes of the Armando Iannuchi show "Veep" in the States.
The internet is always going to be full of armchair conspiracy theorists, tis the nature of the beast! In time it'll all come out, in a week, a month, a year maybe?! But lets not start speculating or name calling or jumping to conclusions yeah?! You think it might be that he's just enjoying having some down time with his young family after a chaotic past 10 years?! All the while still working on and developing new ideas?! That's personally what I think he's doing (YES, you can quote me on THAT!)
In the meantime there'll be plenty of no talent hacks, tracers etc etc with ideas that, in all honesty wouldn't even be worth printing as a sketch cartoon in the sun, all the while claiming that they're "The NEW Banksy" but not really understanding the point! I can think of one that's ripped him off in the past for attention that, coincidently, is part of a group show at a gallery in Ladbrook Grove right around the corner from where that NEW "Banksy" has appeared, almost to the same day of opening in fact! Maybe a lot of people would be better spent calling out these frauds on there Facebook groups.

Im sure he still does do discreet sales for long standing trust worthy customers. i dont have a problem with that, especially when everytime he does a general release it goes bunfight crazy and no-one is ever happy regardless of what PoW do. i do miss not seeing the new art tho.
Hoping like others he does a general release again some time soon - would be nice to guy my hands on some new stuff.....

This forum's been going for a long time, as well as other, more informative sites, that no longer exist. And these started before Banksy's popularity took off. It is inevitable that people with access to certain info are part of these forums. Whether they post is another matter; and because what is discussed on this forum is nowhere near the standard of that on the old ebay forum, or WallKandy, these people are not that bothered anymore because this forum represents all that this 'scene' has become. Whether that's good or bad is open to individual interpretation. |
