I have not had enough coffee, so it is entirely possible that I am not picking up the sarcasm. If so, my apologies. If not, can you see how this position is EXACTLY what he was commenting on when selling his canvases for $60 in NYC? That tying value to enjoyment means you miss out on enjoying something unless it cost you a lot of money. Isn't the point to enjoy it? If so, then what difference does it make whether it gains value? (Apologies for the rant, just seeing a LOT of these sorts of arguments, and it seems absolutely against the message of Banksy's art.)
It's nice to read peoples takes on the $60 canvas stunt!
I saw it more as a statement of who Banksy is and what people think of Banksy!
Did people want thoses canvases for the image or do people want them because they can simply just tell people 'they own a Banksy'?
We all like what we like and we have our own reasons for liking it!
I think It was a very clever social expertment by Banksy, to make us question what exactly makes art desirable!... Well ether that or he was trying to be a funny bastard? We'll never know???

So all I'm questioning is why the apathy and the continuous angle you come from, Banksy product, purchasable artifact, print, book or gallery show. I know these things will keep more people coming to the forum, and we are a consumerist, capitalist economy, but is that really the bottom dollar?
Hasn't Banksy said something to you about where his heart lies aftet ETTGS and BOTI, after the carnage of CYW and his decision not to do the glitter gorrila?
I admire you for keeping this forum managed, organised and ticking over, plus don't have a leg to stand on because you've been round a lot longer than me... and started the damn thing! But I really get the feeling yoi've been scowling at your monitor throughout BOTI.

If I was him and read a small fraction of the crap on this forum about the print situation I would just be banging my head against a brick wall due to the majority being interested in my art more for the quick flip as opposed to the message they conveyed or te enjoyment they gave.
