Margaret Thatcher Art, by Deleted on Apr 12, 2013 23:37:35 GMT 1, Usually Peggy you seem like such a bright dog but this level of criticism is odd. Should every criticism of Maggie make reference to every other politician who you disagree with? Should it come with a list of actions carried out against the current farce? Or should people be allowed to say what they feel about a woman's life now she is dead and it's the given practise to sum up a person very much in the public light?

APRIL 1st 2013 TAX CUTS FOR THOSE COMFORTABLE, INTRODUCE GOVT INTEREST FREE LOAN TO SUPPORT ANYONE BUYING PROPERTY (AGAIN HELPING THOSE WHO HAVE FUNDS). REDUCE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR HELPING UK OUT OF CURRENT RECESSION. ALONGSIDE THIS INTRODUCED FREEZING TEACHERS, NURSES, FIRE, POLICE WORKERS WAGES @ 1% UNTIL 2015-16 & TAKING WELFARE SUPPORT WITHOUT CREATING JOBS OR HOUSING. OUTCRY, ACTION, COMPLAINT MINIMAL.
APRIL 8th THATCHER DIES. HUGE WAVE OF PRAISE/CRITICISM. GODESEND FOR CURRENT GOVT AS ALLOWS THEM TO BE DISINGENIUS AND MOVE AGENDA AWAY FROM THE HUGE DAMAGE CURRENT ECONOMIC POLICY WILL CAUSE.
THE POINT IS MOST OF THE PROTEST IS HOLLOW. WHAT WE SEE TODAY IS FAR WORSE THAN WHAT THATCHER DID. YET THERE IS NO COMPLAINT ABOUT THOSE IMPLEMENTNG THATCHERS POLICIES. WHAT IS THE POINT IN CREATING PROTEST ART ABOUT A DEAD WOMEN THAT WILL CHANGE NOTHING. IT'S VERY SAFE, VERY EASY AND WILL CHANGE NOTHING

Margaret Thatcher Art, by mmmike on Apr 13, 2013 1:22:40 GMT 1, I think it is important to remember and make sure others don't forget atrocities and who contributed to making them happen.
We can't let history be rewritten just because she got old and died. She was never punished for her crimes and it sends a bad message for current and future leaders. They should be held accountable for their actions. Don't forget and don't let others forget.
She was a terrible person who did terrible things. Her actions enabled the deaths of thousands if not millions of people. Let's not sugar coat it. She was a racist, power hungry, warmonger. I don't know enough about her domestic policies to speak to them but even if she was a saint at home (as if) there is no justification for her foreign policies.

Margaret Thatcher Art, by elegantlywasted on Apr 13, 2013 13:28:26 GMT 1, Lets be honest, is anyone on this forum surprised at the publics reaction to the death of this woman? Personally i think this woman systematically destroyed the country and is the architect of what it has become today. I can also remember the name of another woman who (and rightly so) was talked about as 'hated', 'despicable' and 'reviled in life and death'..........Coincidentally she had the initials M and H in her name and they didn't stand for Margaret or Hilda!. But in my opinion both of these women were Evil, they destroyed communities, and they ripped families apart. The only difference is that one was locked up for life and the other was allowed to run the country. I cant separate either for the title 'most vilified woman of the 20th century' but i think Maggie wins when it comes to art inspiration. Gee Vaucher and the work she did whilst in the band CRASS is easily up there with the best of Thatcher art and is the perfect illustration of what was so called 'Thatcherism'

Margaret Thatcher Art, by freakinstyle on Apr 13, 2013 13:58:49 GMT 1, This topic looks the same, but is slightly changing: Started with admiration, sadness regards to Thatcher...starts some sort of debate with some emotional shouts here and there. Seemed 50-50 in supporters on both sides and now anti Thatcher seems to take over.
Lets be honest both sides are throwing mud which made me think; Almost all art posted is anti Thatcher. So is anger a good emotion for art? Better than admiration?

Didnt she feel it acceptable to suggest a Cronwell approach to Ireland?
Yes she did.

Margaret Thatcher Art, by Deleted on Apr 13, 2013 23:11:03 GMT 1, I understand this will fall on deaf ears but those pro Maggie , could they at least put together a coherent factual post for their position? One liners with boom at the end don't count, a proper interesting thought provoking position with something for me to comprehend please?
Having said all of that would be interesting to gauge some opinions on why Maggie has gains this much attention for past sins and there's barely a mutter from the creative world to recent welfare changes in the uk.

(new forum mechanics strikes! this wasn't meant for this thread in fact it was a comment about Harveyn telling us all how much he would spend on a piece , which I found particularly crass oh well)
