10 years from now I should have bought a....??, by Deleted on Aug 11, 2013 8:48:23 GMT 1, I used to think street art was a great leveller no need for contemporary art knowledge, no need to have read lots of books, no need to have friends called Tarquin. Unfortunately it seems a few years down the track it turns out knowledge actually gives perspective. Good that. Always sad when something so exciting goes a bit mundane and run of the mill, lifes a bugger.

10 years from now I should have bought a....??, by alittle on Aug 15, 2013 12:41:49 GMT 1, 10 years from now you should have bought a...

99% of this trash won't be worth anything in 10 years time.

10 years from now I should have bought a....??, by Prescription Art on Aug 15, 2013 13:20:07 GMT 1, Urban Art is still a new thing and so could all go tits up in years to come. It's 40 years since the first graffiti exhibition, and 30 years since the first museum show. And the internet in particular has enabled the artform to grown to a level of popularity that would have been unimaginable even 10 years ago..... it's now permeated almost every aspect of contemporary culture. For me it's impossible to see a way in which graffiti or urban art will lose relevance in a wider context.
On the other hand I really struggle to see how many of the artists people collect have any relevance now, let alone in the future. Only a fool would think they could predict which artists will be talked about in 10 years time.. but I will predict that it'll be those artists who have taken the time to develop a strong and individual visual identity, and not those whose priority is to rinse as much money as possible from the print market.

His biggest crime on here for certain people seems to be that he's doing well and he isn't Banksy!!

What a fun, interesting, lol read. after brief scan of the thread most of the artists suggested have bombed One could argue that is a ‘glass half empty’ argument and depends on your definition of ‘bombed’ (harsh)... if you chose one of the correct forum members advice, you would have outperformed from an investment standpoint (and this wasn’t really the question posed) almost any, if not all investment return benchmarks for said time period.
Further, it didn’t ask explicitly who would be ‘worth’ the most money wise, just who you wish you owned - it is art after all. For example: who knew Dolk would walk away from the type of art he was producing then? I know you can still buy it, etc etc etc -
I’m just pulling your chain a little... Just meant it was a fun thing to see after a few years gone by...
