Martin Whatson • Angel Print, by gatecrasher on Aug 23, 2013 23:31:21 GMT 1, Dry my eyes? More like MW, please find a gallery that will actually drop a print after they said they would. Seriously WTF who does that?
Ive emailed GP on several occasions and had a reply straight away, they also invited me to come to their "gallery" and have a look round. I am not a "favoured" customer of theirs I might add.
Perhaps if you had emailed them and shown some interest in the release and had some kind of relationship with them instead of expecting them to be like you local Sainsbury's Express and have exactly what you want, when you want it, they may have offered you one. Hey shelf stacker !! where's the medium white sliced Martin Whatson print stacked ? FFS !! You have none in stock !! I'm taking my business to Asda from now on !!
My last post on this because the brandy is kicking in and I feel the little Troll on my left shoulder whispering in my ear.

Martin Whatson • Angel Print, by Deleted on Aug 23, 2013 23:40:07 GMT 1, I've missed out on plenty of drops before, it's annoying but there you go. I've been there hours F5ing and have missed out or hit to key that 1/1000th of a second too slow!
At the end of the day it's a piece of paper with a picture printed on it - that's all. I'm just as guilty as anyone by saying to myself 'I must have this print' but sometimes we all need to get things in perspective as nobody 'needs' a print; it's just nice to have.
All the complaining in the world won't change that fact that you missed out so just let it go people.

What are you expecting me to do after that info? Continue to contact them and see if the will sell one to me before they said they would sell them online? Your argument makes no sense.

He's expressing his anger at an online poster shop for announcing they'd be selling a poster online at a certain time and date, only to discover at a later time and date that they'd sold them all their posters to their mum beforehand instead. 2. I can't see where he asked you or anybody else to do anything about it at all.
Ok firstly I think you should let him answer himself as I don't think he needs a spokesman, but thanks anyway.
I wasn't having a go mrunholy. If you're just letting off steam then fair enough but I just think you'll be doing the opposite and winding yourself up by these posts.
Yes it's annoying and I'm sure you have a point but you can't change what's happened.

Though no head, he can certainly paint freehand I'm happy to be proved wrong, so show me some examples of both. All I have to go on is the 'tagging' in the lifestyle imagery they've been selling. And let's not forget Dolk's dire attempts at hand-finishing prints with a can. Makes MBW look like Mode 2. I think what Nuart was saying that "toy" was a self deprecating joke. In old school graff a toy is a novice tagger, a guy that doesn't know what he is doing.

All galleries reward good clients...POW is the biggest proponent of this approach when it comes to print drops.

I don't see the point of your post, if you don't like MW or Dolks work then why bother to come on here to tell us you think they have no talent? Where did I say I "didn't like MW or Dolk's work"? Where did I say I think "they have no talent"? You really are a tiresome little troll.
You're an idiot. If you think that anyone who doesn't agree with you is just trolling then you won't get very far on this forum.

Martin Whatson • Angel Print, by Deleted on Aug 24, 2013 1:03:40 GMT 1, He didnt say they didnt have talent he said they dont have any handstyles and tagging involves handstyles not just the act of making a random mark to give the impression of a tag. This is a fair point. They dont necessarily tag just make marks to enhance their image. Jose Parla tags retna does actual tags of names. What I think he is saying is respect the idea of a real tag and the true idea of graffiti. I dont know their reason for trying to make it look like a tag but I can guess it has something to do them wanting a more graffiti feel. I wont bash them even though I feel that anyone that does try to make a tag in art should have some sort of connection to actually tagging in their history. But as we know that is not the case and in most cases tags or spraypaint sprays are now used as decoration and color thus dillutiing the real power of a handstyle. To each their own but I think he was trying to say this in a more blunt way. Aesthetically I see that a tag or spray adds texture and a nice contrast to the stencil but I do wish more artists would not use it as just a design element. I think its important to respect the idea and power of a tag or fatcap spray. This isnt as bad as realists copying actual graffiti and calling it Urban but it does leave a bad tast in the mouths of actual writers that are proud of years developing their tag and gesture. Word. I don't think young artists think like this anymore. It's a real old school attitude. Realist painters who incorporate tagging and graffiti into urban cityscapes do so because it's what they see day in and day out. It's as natural as a country water colourist painting trees. You literally can't paint a classical Athens scene without adding throwups and tags. They paint what they see. That's it. No serious artist I know or have ever known would add elements to a painting to be seen as "cool" or "urban". Artists simply don't work like that. Designers maybe, but not artists. Same for the three stencil artists currently using it in their work. They live in cities. They've been exposed to graffiti and tagging since birth and move in a culture where anything is fair game, remixed, mashed up and spun back out. I guarantee it's the younger crowd buying this and the older heads bemoaning it. Also you have the likes of HowNosm, Saber and many other respected writers utilising stencils, same as stencil artists are utilising freehand graffiti. It's just a tool, a means to an end. Graffiti has become as symbolic to urban as a Greek column (or MW statues) has to classical. They're simply motifs that artists use. Whatson seems to employ them as a form of urban camouflage, Dolk uses them in a purer vandalism way..hence the series being called toy. Both seem to employ them as an attack on conservative values and objects and both do have the potential to make you think about contemporary urban life, you have to see beyond the "style". Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But in general, I think it's an interesting development.

Always seems to get said by someone when they realise they've lost the argument and have nothing more to say.
If you wind your neck in a bit and learn to accept criticism you could turn out alright....although maybe not!

Thats a valid point. After thinking this over Although I might not like it you have to respect any form of creativity and influence. We are all inspired by other art forms past and present. I guess in the end most these artists are very young in their career who knows where everyone will end up. If they take something from graffiti so be it. Rather a peer like street art than some other artist with no real understanding of any urban art.

Forgive me if I'm being thick, does that mean yes there are tracking numbers?
Or they are just arriving Wednesday or Thursday.
How are they being sent? Courier or royal mail?
I have no faith in my postman which I why I ask... Thanks

Usually special delivery and tracking numbers are usually updated to your PayPal account but usually after the print arrives though ? Rest assured I've had 4 seperate diliveries arrive with out issues

All worldwide sent international tracked and I will send tracking numbers tomorrow and Thursday after I pick them up.
I take the tubes in all done and pay next day hence I get tracking numbers the next day when the UK tubes are being delivered.
