Why I wouldn't buy from Jerome couturier if I where you, by Limited Prints on Sept 5, 2013 15:07:40 GMT 1, The print was retuned. Im out about $90.00. If any body thinks im wrong and it is a strong enough tube than by all means use it in good health.

Why I wouldn't buy from Jerome couturier if I where you, by Cedric Mnich on Sept 5, 2013 15:23:51 GMT 1, Hello guys I know Jerome and he is a nice and serious guy. The tube he used is the usual tube many galleries use in France or abroad. The middle box is often required by French post office because they hate rolling tubes, it is not there to improve protection (it would be ineffective). From France, every parcel can have a tracking number and insurance with a declared value for an additional fee (and it seems it was expedited by Colissimo, so most likely with the insurance). Did you protest to Post Office ? Have the Insurance triggered ? In my opinion, the post office services are responsible for crushing the tube, not the seller. I think several people on this forum have received crushed tubes (especially via Royal Mail :-p) and never held the gallery or artist responsible for that. This is very sad to get a crushed print and I understand your anger but when getting the tube you should probably have checked it in front of the postman, especially as it looks obviously deformed by the crush.... I know this story runs since July (yeah, Jerome had told me about it and that you would bash him on UAA and Expresso Beans when it got obvious you could not sort it out). Is there already a thread on Expresso Beans by now ? Sorry but trying to ruin Jerome's reputation online is not a fair thing especially as he should not be held responsible for the damaged tube. Im sorry cedric I completely disagree. any body who thinks that tube is strong enough is not right. look at the picture of the inside of the tube. no structural integrity at all. Why have I never received anything even similar to this in dozens and dozens of purchases of other high end pieces. NOthing at all similar. I would say you had no luck with post office services. I already received tubes which were almost 1 cm thick and still were crushed, making a hole into the tube. I was lucky the print was shorter than the tube and the hole was above the print... I mean, of course, tougher tubes are always better but it won't necessary prevent damage if post office assholes handle them with no attention. Your (bad) experience regarding the tube should be useful for people to improve shipping and print protection. Minimum tube thickness and additional inner bubble wrap ?
