DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by Dice on Nov 23, 2013 10:49:28 GMT 1, Eschiff you've got it wrong. There was payneys group, the young lads from bristol. Then there was the Manchester group, the 5 guys with crew cuts. I have no doubt they were paid/recruited whatever. None were on our train. I met Steph, Mandingo etc in the queue and none of us had any connection to those guys. I think Steph explained in perfectly well in his post.
No need for continuing all this.
Peace.

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by Harrington FAN on Nov 23, 2013 13:08:26 GMT 1, Here is my thinking, this goes against all dal would want. Send him an email and let him know how you feel as I bet he wants to know as he is a great guy. Art is for us to enjoy and we spend what we can spare to enjoy it. This whole set up was a sham and we all live by our reputations. So, sadly laz has lost all future biz from me and my friends I have been hunting out works for. I'll lift some dal for them at his next non laz show. They obviously don't cAre about my biz. Simple as that. Penny wise, pound foolish.

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by eschiff on Nov 23, 2013 13:08:24 GMT 1, yup, i'm done! I know who you are mate, wasn't accusing you. Regardless, i think we can all agree that it's a shame this thread is about the queue and not the art and that blame lays on Outsiders. The show, (everyone wants to know about the show right?) was incredibly underwhelming. There was seemingly no thought to how the art would be displayed and in fact there was more art there from other artists than Dal (downstairs they had like a print cave where they were showcasing some recent and not so recent prints from people like Eine, Borf, et al.
The sketches were nicely done but the canvasses were a bit too much for me. The tea staining, while adding an interesting texture to the pieces, distracted from the actual imagery.
One of the things i love about going to opening is meeting the artists and talking about their art...you always get a new perspective. Laz has traditionally been pretty good about this, long talks with Conor and Jonathan Yeo have been brilliant. I thought if Dal had come to the exhibition (i think a bunch of forum members actually spoke to him for a while at the pub next door) that could've added a lot to the conversation.

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by BKBOI on Nov 23, 2013 13:36:59 GMT 1, Do not reach out to DALeast about these shitty releases. The guy might get discouraged and stop releasing prints all in all. And people wonder why Banksy doesn't release prints anymore.
I don't understand why the Asian flippers were not on top of this. Didn't they dominate the SAN release last year?

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by Dice on Nov 23, 2013 13:53:05 GMT 1, Yeah the show was VERY low key, a tiny space and only about 5 big canvases and some sketches. Without a print release you could have come and gone in 5 minutes, which is why I guess there's a lot more to say about the queue than the art! Also the pieces were pretty familiar, animals in signature style so wasn't blown away but was nice to see up close.
Anyway it was a good day out and it was nice to meet everyone have a good weekend all

You enter the lottery, you hopefully win and you go to the show to collect it. Simple. Yes I know people can enter under multiple emails but there is just nothing that can be done about that at all.
Any show like this and the same will happen again. How long before we actually see a fight in the queue or inside the gallery? Don't dismiss this scenario as I think it really could happen.

Hate will only encourage flippers?! What a load of bollox. Flippers could not give too s**ts whether people hate them or not. They've spotted an opportunity to make some money and they take it. End of. There's no weird hidden agendas going on, they're not out to upset the art world, it's just a way of making cash.

The worse are the VIPs, they get to go in straight away as they have been on telly.. fuck right off, wankers
Still it was a fun queue, met a few cool dudes and dudettes

DALeast π¨π³ Wuhan, China β’ Street Art β’ Based in Cape Town, by Happy Shopper on Nov 23, 2013 19:05:35 GMT 1, Not that I really care... but Laz actually did a really good job in creating a massive fuss about nothing!
How many people were actually in the queue? 40 or 50? Not that much really. So, if they'd released all 100 (or a few less), and made it one print each, not both (which they should have), everyone would have got one, plus extras for online... and Dal would only appear averagely popular!
As it is we're talking about lotteries and how will they cope next time, etc... ha ha
