DALeast ๐จ๐ณ Wuhan, China โข Street Art โข Based in Cape Town, by kel on May 8, 2015 11:01:55 GMT 1, Part of Art collecting is going through the disappointment of not being able to get a piece on release that you know would definitely make the wall. It is something you grow to get used to and venting frustration at a Gallery seems to be standard practice.
However the anger that was coming across on the forum yesterday wasn't coming from disappointment more from time wasted on what was turning out to be one of the most farcical releases ever. It was becoming evident that part/majority of this release had already been sold and the release was just a pantomime to go through the motions of showing the print sold out.
Questions started to be raised when a screen shot showing the release page with Sold Out on it before the official drop time. Now that could well be a very good photo shop. But what was hard to understand is when the site crashed at the moment of the release and nobody was able to see the release page PrintThemAll declared that half the stock had been sold. Then an announcement was made that the remaining would be released at a later date and apologies were made for wasting everyone's time. Then once the majority had called it a day after 2 hours wasted PrintThemAll release the print and not surprisingly all those with one in the basket trying to checkout are starting to realise they are wasting there time as these don't exist.
As far as I am concerned PrintThemAll if this was my forum I wouldn't entertain any further threads promoting releases by yourself as you seem to have a strange way of dealing with customers.
Luckily for you this isn't my Forum and all this will be forgotten in a few weeks time. Well it will be forgotten by some but others that had to suffer the farce yesterday wont forget.

first i thought i screwed up the drop time. once i had confirmed w/ others that it had not dropped yet is when i thought there may be some shady shenanigans going on (like selling the entire edition to your contacts during a secret presale).

To add to this:
1/ The fact that prints were sold beforehand only came to light due to the site being slammed, and the need for PTA to release a statement. They mucked up by indicating that half the prints were already sold, when that clearly couldn't have happened through the online sale.
2/ PTA, on realising this, then started to delete social media comments, most prominently Facebook. At one point, they denied that they were doing this, claiming that the authors were being paranoid. This only inflamed the situation further, leading to a more rapid escalation of censoring.
3/ Based on the number of prints, and DALeast has a huge following, I did not go into the online drop with any sense of confidence. I am realistic in that I know I won't be able to get every print I go for (and, from a financial standpoint, that's just as well!). However, I would like a reasonable shot at it. That is NOT what happened here.
Members here say 'well, there were only 60 prints, what did you expect?'. Fine. Agreed. But not having anything close to a level playing field is the killer here.
PTA has a LOT of work to do to regain trust on this issue. The statement on their part earlier in this thread won't cut it in isolation.

If that were true and all prints were sold before the drop why bother to announce the release? Could have just had a private sale.

DALeast ๐จ๐ณ Wuhan, China โข Street Art โข Based in Cape Town, by preston on May 8, 2015 15:43:38 GMT 1, Well, not all the prints were sold off line. There were at least some available yesterday (after everyone had been told on social media to pack up, go home and wait for an announcement). PTA themselves indicated that half had gone, but I don't think we'll every really know, and to be honest, I don't think anyone will trust PTA if they come out at this point and state a number.
In terms of why this wasn't a completely private sale though, I think that it can be put down purely to hype for their store. Getting DALeast for a release was quite a feather for their cap, there was a lot of interest ahead of time, increased traffic, etc.
It's bitten them in the arse now, but that was surely the intention.

If this had been like any other drop it would have been chalked up to standard disappointment. And the cache for scoring this print run would have reaped intangibles for PTA's all around business. Unfortunately that's not what happened, and they'll be stung with with this proverbial black eye for some time.

But look at all this hype this "release" has generated for print them all, they will find their way they pre sold way too many and screwed the release,
POW is the only print house that has perfected this. Print them all might want to take note.

There are plenty of print houses that have perfectly fine sales systems; I honestly don't understand why some of them can't figure out how to set an inventory for their products on their site so they don't oversell because there is no good reason aside from laziness or incompetence (it's a pretty basic feature on any online sales platform).

There are plenty of print houses that have perfectly fine sales systems; I honestly don't understand why some of them can't figure out how to set an inventory for their products on their site so they don't oversell because there is no good reason aside from laziness or incompetence (it's a pretty basic feature on any online sales platform).

DALeast ๐จ๐ณ Wuhan, China โข Street Art โข Based in Cape Town, by Deleted on May 8, 2015 20:22:05 GMT 1, Dear friends, Seeing all the reactions on today's release we just wanted to let you know we did our best to manage this drop, but the demand was just overwhelming. We had literally 1000s of page hits going for one of 60 available prints! This means that 100s of people were left empty handed and disappointed and we're still busy answering such messages and emails. This was by far the most anticipated PrintThemAll release to date, and we can assure you we did our best to make this release as fair and smooth as possible. Unfortunately, there was no way for everyone that wanted one of the prints to get one. We're really sorry about that! The only thing we can say is that DALeast will return for a collaboration with PrintThemAll, and after this experience we'll make double sure that release goes even smoother and glitch free. Thank you for your interest and support, and once again, we're sorry for all the trouble or stress that this release might caused you. PTA team Whilst I think that this post is admirable, surely you must have visualised that this would be over subscribed and that you actually had 'literally' 1000's of people going for 30 prints because you'd banged out 30 beforehand? Or at least that is the (unsubstantiated) accusation.
No one on here has a 'right' to buy but equally you have a duty of care (or at least I think you have) not to waste peoples time because they think they might be able to buy something when in actual fact they have fuck all chance of that, in reality. It's pointless and from the consumers perspective irritating in the extreme, so you deserve all the heat you are getting imo.
Try harder next time.

DALeast ๐จ๐ณ Wuhan, China โข Street Art โข Based in Cape Town, by wompa on May 9, 2015 0:46:42 GMT 1, If that were true and all prints were sold before the drop why bother to announce the release? Could have just had a private sale. But look at all this hype this "release" has generated for print them all, they will find their way they pre sold way too many and screwed the release, POW is the only print house that has perfected this. Print them all might want to take note. POW doesn't give a fuck, they are bankrolled by industry players and can do no wrong as long as they maintain their relations with top artists. I was refunded on Dran Sunset arbitrarily with no communication, I only found out because a refund appeared on my credit card.

DALeast ๐จ๐ณ Wuhan, China โข Street Art โข Based in Cape Town, by Deleted on May 17, 2015 8:27:43 GMT 1, Anyone hear anything about shipping yet? Or confirmation from Print Them All as to when these will start shipping. Leaving the country and don't want to miss delivery as I'll be in Amsterdam for a couple of months....
First time order from them how are the shipping methods they use? Anyone ever order from them before?
Thanks

DALeast ๐จ๐ณ Wuhan, China โข Street Art โข Based in Cape Town, by numanoid on May 27, 2015 11:53:03 GMT 1, I just want to report that my egariM print arrived today and it was very well packed. (It was shipped UPS Standard from Paris. Metal end-caps on the poster tube were a nice touch.) Yes the online ordering was dragged out but perseverance paid off. I was initially thrown when its status was shown as 'Sold Out' as it first came online.
Assuming someone might not be able to pay, I just refreshed until it came available again. But I suspect that what really happened is that the web pages were first updated with the images and 'Sold Out' was the default setting before they set the stock level a short while later.
So the feeling they were all presold isn't accurate, it just appeared that way. My own print is number 39 so I guess they weren't all gone either when I reached the checkout. Oddly, I saw no mention of the usual 'one print per person' at any stage. At the checkout it seemed like I could have bought a few if I had wanted but that wouldn't have been fair obviously. Who knows, perhaps someone else did.
Anyway, these are just my observations. Perhaps it'll take some of the heat out of this release. My only gripe is that the print originated in Paris and I live in Belgium, so why couldn't I pay Euros? Yeah I know, that's a luxury problem...
