Does Print Number matter?, by ironic mustache on Nov 13, 2013 7:51:12 GMT 1, To the all knowing forum members-
Long time lurker with just a few posts here. I felt I finally had a good question that I just can't figure out myself. I'm curious as to what the impact of the actual print number of a print has on its selling price. I've always heard its better to get a low numbered print on a print release, but why? why does it matter that you have number 10 out of 100? or 500. Wouldn't the number of actual prints made be more important than the print number itself? Are lower print numbers a sign of a better quality print? Is having the last print made better than having another one? isn't the numbering just the luck of the pile? Any thoughts/feedback would be great to hear as I'm looking at a print with the final number on it.
thanks SJ
PS: thanks for all the contributors to the Better out than In posts. I was lucky enough to be in NYC for work the last 2 weeks of the show and refreshing the forum at a mad pace along with being able to check out the work in person made my trip a million times better.
