Maybe it is favors for people he grew up with or business who helped him or whatnot. I have been offered at least 2 original pieces by Retna that were stolen (one was Jason Zenga (known crook) so i am not sure if that counts) and some original pieces that were apparently given to an old assistant (politely stolen?) and sadly there have been others I have been offered with similar shady-ness. From what I have learned and heard, he is very generous with his art to friends and people he at one time back when couldn't afford to pay them.
He has had a few representatives that seem to step in as soon as an original is publicly offered below what they would like his market to be, but that seems to have stopped within the last 3-6 months and there are more pieces showing up at all sorts of prices. I just purchased an original Retna for a price less than what they are asking for a set of AP's.
I doubt Retna wants to do prints...to much work for not enough money for him... this was a favor for 13Press. I am starting to think that there might be more AP's and PP's than regular prints. Definitely do not believe I am actually reading 13Press bashing people on instagram... it is very surreal for a business. ...Thug life chose them.
That being said I really wanted one of these and didnt get one... hopefully one will turn up around cost in the future and will be on my wall.

I've NEVER flipped ANYTHING. I've given 2 Retna Braddock tiles prints away for free and 2 Etam prints for free and I sold an Audrey Kawasaki print at cost. Other than that over never even sold anything.

I do like that it was changed to the email sale at seemingly last minute.
However the gallery should have done better. No wonder people are complaining about how it was handled (not about not getting the print, that's another story).
