Everyone who thinks that price is good and has an extra $6600 sitting around of disposable income , kudos to you and yours. Most of us i think would again find charging that much is not first of all within our reach and second no way they priced this for there fans but simply to cash out. They are plenty well to do at this point in the game, and could have very easy made this $1000 wich is still expensive but at least most could of had a chance to have a piece of there art. Best....

Of course plenty of good art is cheap, I can name 100 people that their work should be valued higher than it is, but the demand for those artists at this point doesn't create value. Its the market.
Ok the image to you is mediocre, and uninspiring so the debate should be over right there. That should be reason enough for anyone not to buy this regardless of price. Would you pay for an uninspiring mediocre image if it was cheaper?
To make a print is fractional compared to this price point I dont think that had a factor at all.
As far as others mentioning you can buy other established artists for cheaper I would like to see some examples, I dont think it is easy to compare a contemporary artist who's market is so niche to Os gemeos who represent a fanbase far more popular than even famous contemporary artists. Its a new day and artists like Banksy, Os gemeos have a huge fanbase that drives lower end price points thus a huge demand for work that is in this range. Comparing them to contemporary artists is not accurate, these artists are something different. There are plenty of high end artists that make prints that nobody knows about because no one besides rich people collect them, and rich people can afford their originals. Its a different animal all together.
Regardless if this print was 500, 1000, or 4000 Euro people wouldn't be happy. There is a print already on ebay for 19K, if they sold for 1K there would be prints on ebay for 5K its the nature of this market and the demand a handful of artists bring. Os Gemeos paints murals for the fans they dont need to make a cheap print for some print day traders to profit off, I am sure everyone did there best to please everyone in this situation and it was always going to be impossible to do that. If you met the Twins you would know that what they do is not about money its a true love for the art. If they chose this image its because as artists its what they wanted to paint and share with us, if its unappealing to you then you have that right not to like it. Bottom line i understand the frustration as we are being priced out of our own artform for artists we love but that is the nature of the market and the impact speculators have on it. If you want to blame anyone for these high prices dont Blame the twins, blame the market that has created all this.
You can see many printshops trying to come up with price points, systems to stop the flipping and speculating but its tough and in the end the artists and the print shops get the blame when someone gets slighted. There is more than enough blame to go around, yet I would argue that in this case it should not be pointed at OG.

I would say that even at 4K you got a deal, and anyone that says that this isnt worth it doesn't know the value of the twins. These guys will not be forgotten, they are not hyped like some of the other artists I wont mention. The twins bring not only talent but honest work that captures so many aspects of their personal history. I doubt anyone could touch a original near 4K unless it was a sticker or something. If you do then you should buy it, paintings are way out of reach for most of us. Besides now being represented by Lehmann Maupin in NY they have some large projects in the works. I doubt the twins will all of a sudden flood the market with other releases to bring the rarity of this print down. They are calculated in their moves in a broader sense that has enabled them to capture the elite collectors. Unfortunately for us we are now priced out, and thus why this print is a bargain IMO. This is quite simply all that ever needed to be said on this thread.

The auction turnover of Murakami was €8,128,118 in 2012/2013, against the €471.784 of the twins . Despite this you can find on ebay Takashi Murakami prints even at less than 1,000 Euros. Pharrell spends 500k for a Murakami Original even if there are prints on ebay at less of 1k; Because an original is an original and a print is a print..this is the truth

Some of them looking very similar. I would say, murakami is releasing at least 5000 up to 10000 prints each year. Most of them at a price of 500 Euro.
