OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by graffuturism on Feb 11, 2014 22:56:46 GMT 1, For One Graffiti prints as others have stated you have had great releases, but it is rather Naive to get into a business transaction with someone you don't know or act like you know nothing about. I find it hard to believe that you would at the drop of a dime pic a random image you like with someone you have no clue is, with no merit as an established artist and drop a print. You would think that with the well established artists you do work with you could easily have chosen a valentines image from them. Your playing the part like this is all news to you, it doesn't add up with with what everyone stated, as well as common sense.
Why would i even comment, because there are plenty of artists who deserve their work to be bought over a print like this. When printers, galleries engage a market for speculation without proper curating it strikes me as cashing in on some of the hype, speculators, so forth that continue to drive the market without actually contributing to the market with worthy editions and contributions. Like I said it would seem you do contribute with other releases, but this 180 is rather odd.
Who knows what will become of it maybe some big deal, maybe not. In the end same is always true if a person likes it great buy it more power to you, but this hype and underhanded anonymous aspect seems wrong in some way. An artist can beat the system bypassing the need to earn their role in the genre but in the end the cream rises to the top in my opinion. In conclusion though GP will have profited off another stencil artist taking on an established artists style and maybe some of you have a print you like. No harm done I guess. It could be time for another MBW to rise and fall. Some love the roller coaster and cant help themselves I guess.
I would ask the same of any printer or Gallery and have continued to do so. If you want to profit off this genre contribute to it, add to the scene with your professional expertise and canon the artists you think should be taken serious. We as a group of contributors need to raise the bar as a whole, I put this same pressure on myself. And If GP you do think this artist is amazing and needs his voice to be heard more power to you, but why not do it on the up and up. Introduce the artist with real content and who knows maybe a Bio. By not providing information you are engaging in speculation and alluding to something that might not exist. If the print is great sell the print, sell the image, sell the artist and his skill, why sell his anonymity. Plenty of graffiti/street artists are anonymous and use aliases why is this artist so super important because he is also unknown.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 11, 2014 22:57:49 GMT 1, Love the image. Dont think it is jps style to do this. I know he fooled fragile with the fake rat but his style is different imo. Artists like incwell who did the still sane peice in bristol were originally attributed to banksy abd weapon of choice gallery advised that artist has had a number of guises over the years. Not a banksy but like the people that included a dot dot dot in secret santa and regretted it the year after as print values rose in value. I will be buying it for the image only.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by bone on Feb 11, 2014 23:13:08 GMT 1, If the image was garbage, no one would be talking about the print. GP owes us nothing and is free to sell anything by anyone. The artist is OUTIS, this is his/her first print (under this name?), buy or don't buy. People are looking way to far into this.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by randomname on Feb 11, 2014 23:13:55 GMT 1, OK. let's run with that. If someone buys this believing it is Banksy in disguise, they are buying a print solely because of who they think MIGHT have created it. In other words, they are hoping to strike it rich. No sympathy for them. Or do you mean some random person who knows nothing about street art except ETTGS looks at it and decides, despite the fact that it has some other artist's name on it, that it's a Banksy and buys it anyway? Well, I hope they bought it because they like it, but again, no harm done. If people buy this because they like it, good for them. If they buy it because they don't like it but it MIGHT be a Banksy, they're idiots. Again, who is being scammed? You're assigning questionable motives to people who might fall for this, while dismissing the obvious dishonest intent behind this print.
Not every street art fan is on this forum. Maybe one percent of one percent of Banksy fans know about it. In the meantime, you have tens of thousands of Banksy fans following a fake Facebook page thinking it's him.
They're the people who might fall for it. It doesn't make them greedy or stupid. They're just less informed.
I have the same opinion of whoever is behind this as I do for people trying to steal little old ladies' retirement checks. Just because the victim doesn't know any better, doesn't make it right.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on Feb 11, 2014 23:22:51 GMT 1, To say that I am not an expert is an understatement. I do like to think of myself as an *artist.* Having said that, I do like the print(s)... I just don't like how it is implied that Banksy created them...
If Banksy did create the print(s)... Then I feel he is doing a de-service to his fans (me included).
The bottom line is that: Do you buy a print because it's a Banksy? My answer is: If it were in the US, yes... I like it and the price is not exorbitant. But being released in the UK... blah, blah, blah (I know, poor me)... I will have to pass.
Great work!

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by pcant on Feb 11, 2014 23:23:21 GMT 1, I'm saying that someone who thinks this is Banksy, despite it not being signed by Banksy, is hoping it will be by him so he or she can make some money off it. If someone buys it because they like it, it matters not who made it, right? So any motive OTHER than liking it is based on potential profit or the cachet of being able to tell their friends they have a Banksy. In other words, not about the image. You're assuming someone is sophisticated enough to suspect this unknown artist is Banksy (tied in to the NYC show and knowing about this FB page but not Banksy's own web portal), and yet not sophisticated enough to do some more digging before spending money on a print that is NOT Banksy but might be? Seems like a very slim segment of the print-buying population.

GP owes this place a fair bit i would guess. But thats no the issue anyway! I don't imagine he willingly got into this.
Highly unlikely people are looking too far into this. Just seeing the obvious, and discussing it on a forum.

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by tommyb on Feb 11, 2014 23:35:05 GMT 1, I rather wanted one of these, thought it would look great in my bike work shop at the bottom of the garden (it backs on to a field which attracts rodents so I find myself in an on going battle with them). I now find the problem that I want the grey not the pink (can't have a pink print up in my man shed!) and given the hype created on this the greys may well sell out due to people gambling one the very very low odds they are picking up a cheap banksy.

If someone buys it because they like it, it matters not who made it, right? So any motive OTHER than liking it is based on potential profit or the cachet of being able to tell their friends they have a Banksy. In other words, not about the image. Seems like a very slim segment of the print-buying population. And I'm saying you're making assumptions about why someone would buy it. More casual fans may not know how much a Banksy print is worth. They might just want to buy a piece of art from their favorite artist. When you have someone posing as Banksy, pushing it on a fake Facebook page, it's not a stretch to see that scenario playing out.
Try to put yourself in their shoes for a moment. If you did buy a piece of art thinking it was by an artist you liked, only to turn around and find out you were tricked, would you not be disappointed?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by maddoghoek100 on Feb 12, 2014 0:04:14 GMT 1, i do like this. a bit of a one trick pony, but it is fun. that said the price seems all wrong. the only reason this should have any more than a 25 gbp price tag is because of the artist. If the question is should you buy art because you like it the answer is yes. and it is worth the time and materials + a profit margin for the re-seller. Should you pay more than that? only if it is no longer art for art's sake and is some sort of collectible.
A few years back WGBoyd released a print of a panda in a rainbow shower. His first print, he was a complete unknown, it was a fun image and it was $40. I bought it, hung it in my bathroom and enjoy it every day.
All of the comments about this being a scam or cash grab seem completely justified because 90 GBP does not seem like a "fair" price for a no name print unless there are a lot more screen or a lot more labor in hand finishing. For instance if the the flowers were hand finished it seems like it would be a bargain and i would be in

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Graffiti Prints on Feb 12, 2014 0:12:21 GMT 1, i am honestly stunned by this thread in all sorts of ways. i repeat im 99.9% sure its not banksy and i never linked it to him.
i know it sounds hard to understand working with a artist you have never met and dont know who they are but you do get a feel for people in emails and i go on gut instinct right or wrong but i do.
i have worked with artists before i dont know what there first name is never mind who they are and a classic example is dot all i had seen was the work online which i loved so asked and asked to print till he finally gave in. i feel shit calling him dot when we talk via facebook under his dot account but i do.
we are a print house and never wanted to be a gallery, we do like to have show's and have two coming this year all going to plan.
we are trying our best to bring what we said we would at the start quality prints from up and coming artists and some well known names.
i love the fact we can make a amazing well printed product for someone who could never afford to do it and go the extra mile with colours and processes.
fact is we loving printing full stop i am addicted to the process, i took my os gemeos print into my printers today and got a 1 hour lesson on how it was made, the machines, the process and he pointed out lots of fine details we were looking through a magnifying glass. the point is its all based on passion, his lesson, me listening the hour lasted 5 mins for me as does my days doing this sometimes i love it.
to be fair to this print its a beautiful 6 colour screen print, i am bummed no one noticed the flash of gold metallic in the yellow of the flowers thats the geek i am...

i have worked with artists before i dont know what there first name is never mind who they are and a classic example is dot all i had seen was the work online which i loved so asked and asked to print till he finally gave in. i feel shit calling him dot when we talk via facebook under his dot account but i do.
we are a print house and never wanted to be a gallery, we do like to have show's and have two coming this year all going to plan.
we are trying our best to bring what we said we would at the start quality prints from up and coming artists and some well known names.
i love the fact we can make a amazing well printed product for someone who could never afford to do it and go the extra mile with colours and processes.
fact is we loving printing full stop i am addicted to the process, i took my os gemeos print into my printers today and got a 1 hour lesson on how it was made, the machines, the process and he pointed out lots of fine details we were looking through a magnifying glass. the point is its all based on passion, his lesson, me listening the hour lasted 5 mins for me as does my days doing this sometimes i love it.
to be fair to this print its a beautiful 6 colour screen print, i am bummed no one noticed the flash of gold metallic in the yellow of the flowers thats the geek i am...

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by graffuturism on Feb 12, 2014 0:12:45 GMT 1, i do like this. a bit of a one trick pony, but it is fun. that said the price seems all wrong. the only reason this should have any more than a 25 gbp price tag is because of the artist. Exactly my take on a new artist print who has no name. I see plenty of artists attempt banksy's style yet have decent images and they dont sell for this price point. Kofie Just dropped a release silk screened edition of 100 for 100 dollars. So unless GP knows something we dont the price point seems off for a new artist even for those buying because they like the image.

I get that about you and I thought before this release you were doing some great prints and pushing your own niche, yet this selling of a print and selling his anonymity and mysterious aspect instead of the print aspect, the artist aspect seems off. So you didn't ask him who he was, how long he has been painting its obvious he knows what he is doing. I just see a backwards approach to what you say in this response and how you released the print. Nothing about this release feels like your response.

For instance if the the flowers were hand finished it seems like it would be a bargain and i would be in I agree with you on the price, seems high. Why would the timed edition be more then the limited edition? Not made to be a slight to GP, just honest critique.
