OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on May 6, 2014 20:35:44 GMT 1, More fool the greedy people buying the Outis print thinking about making money.
I can buy that Outis is 1% Banksy cos i'm naive like that and saying on Ebay 99% certain it's not Banksy showed a lot about buyers mentality and their reasons for buying were not for liking the art on it's own merits.
Banksy prints are no more valuable than any other prints. It's just ink on paper but people pay more because they know they can resell a Banksy print for what they paid for it or more, so in fact perpetuating a value based on reselling values.
Thats good unless one day too many Banksy's come up for sale on the same day or year and probably why sales are controlled to keep prices high.
When something happens and people begin to feel insecure they stop buying speculatively.
I heard that people are too scared to send their Hirst originals to auction these days and have a fortune locked up in what could be an unsellable or sellable at a huge loss painting/s made by assistants.
There is no such thing as bad publicity and Outis should have followed up with another ltd edition and that would have sold OK because peoples mentality is, they paid high prices over a thousand dollars anyway for the Outis release so would be prepared to buy another release, maybe not for as high a price but not far off and it could be a nice ongoing earner.
Who is Outis, who is this masked man that walks the Ebay listing Streets at night?
No one knows.
I'm hoping one day someone calling themselves something like Iam Spartacus runs around looking for new Banksy pics on walls and takes photos and sticks them on his website saying he did them.
That would confuse Banksy fans.
How would Banksy prove he did the art on the walls, apart from sticking a photo of a stencil art on a wall on his website. Or a statement of some sort.
Or if someone made a very similar stencil on the same wall right next to what Banksy made.
There is no such thing as bad publicity.
I must release something soon.

Do a Banksy rat. Or better yet, one of those "Laugh now..." monkeys. That'll confuse the fuck out of people. Probably crash the market.

Want to throw an insult my way as well while your at it. It's clear you didn't want to address my take on the looking back recap. Besides profit what has outis given the scene? I've always stated other than this release I have heard nothing but good releases from gp but you coming on here insulting instead of talking about what your mystery artist who everyone knows now is not banksy is up to, or maybe show some humility and acknowledge that Outis has no plans to be anything other than a ploy or marketing stunt. But I know you would rather insult than actually honestly have a conversation.

I make prints for artists and often sell them for artists
How can I possibly tell any of them what to do? Market themselves etc
I can say what I want but they all do what they want at the end of the day so I don't say much it's there career, I love to see all there quirky ways there all so different
I am doing a show in the USA in July in NYC, come and see us there and you will see we are real deal. I give a shit about all the people I work with and help them as much as I can.
Were over painting with a crew of our artists and doing a group show can not wait
Check us out in person

Were over painting with a crew of our artists and doing a group show can not wait Check us out in person I get that and I am not attempting to bring down what you have done or doing, my issue has always been this release i stated my opinion back then, and when the thread reemerged It felt like a good time to reengage what and who Outis is. I have heard your story on the matter but I have yet to hear you say that you would do things differently or say hey maybe we made a mistake with this selection and handling of the release. I think thats what people are upset about is that even months after when its very clear Outis amounts to nothing of worth in the whole scene you still defend the release even so much to insult people that dont agree with you. To me that shows a character flaw regardless of how much good you have done, reminds me a bit of BNE where, I was on his side but after a awhile he just never got past his own ego and fixed the issue. This release is far less significant than that and I am not trying to equate the 2 just saying we all make mistakes. As a curator who selects what is to be printed you have stuck to releasing solid releases with this one mistake, I dont think anyone will hold that against you. Its your attitude towards the customers and the opinions of people that dont agree with you that brings alarm.

I hear you and I love my customers, it's been a weird journey last two years.
I almost feel bad for saying Damien is a cock like a naughty school boy i was as a child - sorry Damien
You just have to believe that I just make prints, I don't tell Artists off because they have pissed off a selected few on a forum
You should know with a blog This is a worldwide market not this forum or eb or obeygiant forum whatever
I don't hype my prints or our artists I just show the work and add the buy button that's it!
I find it hard that you don't understand that, please understand we stand by the people that work with us
Come and have a beer with us man I am a humble man and honest.
I'm not some young kid as much as I would like to be, no I have been threw the mill just over 40 been fucked over in life, over money mainly but done ok, just by the skin of my teeth.
So this business of trust appeals to me imagine how much artists trust me make a shit hot prints for them and the responsibility that brings.
Doing Sandra's colours and other prints I am making they all have a certain thing you can bring to them.
capturing all the details on all original pieces I am sent and retaining all of them I love it, my passion translates to the artists and they trust me.
So why would I ever break there trust even if on here to some my rep had been tarnished, I would never break there trust ever. Right or wrong I won't!
I take this very seriously and that translates into product I sell
If I hyped the shit out of it and cut corners etc I would understand the shit but I don't
So I think your beating me up on this because I stick by the artist. I got the original and choose to print it and I stick by that and the artist
I know the difference after all these years of who can paint and and what translate onto paper.
Long answer on old thread, honestly if you want to take it further email me at info@graffitiprints.com happy to talk

I appreciate your responses to this - it's good to read all sides.
But, I thought you alluded to something earlier about artists choosing how to market themselves (I may be mistaken), so can I ask whose idea it was to market this as 99% not Banksy? Was that your decision alone, or the artists?
If the artist requested that 99% notion, then I think that you must have been aware this was NOT Banksy, so why cheapen the release with it? And, if it wasn't the artists idea, why on earth did you pluck that selling technique from thin air, knowing full well the negative effect it would have on peoples views of the release, and possibly subsequent GP releases?
It doesn't seem fit at all with the integrity you have shown since the start - well, at least not in my opinion. I may not be expressing myself very well here, and I am not trying to troll or stir, I've just wondered where the 99% thing came from initially?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Deleted on May 7, 2014 12:53:03 GMT 1, More fool the greedy people buying the Outis print thinking about making money.
[br Why do you write such long-winded drivel? I could say because it comes natural and I enjoy it and to make up for your lack of content.
Whats your excuse?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Graffiti Prints on May 7, 2014 14:58:48 GMT 1, oh man please i never intended this to be viewed as a scam or banksy piece or whatever.
why buy just incase i am 99.999999% sure its not if you like the image buy it, if not just ignore...... [/quote]
I quote myself from page two after already saying I never wanted it to be associated with banksy
As for six it's a photoshop print knocked up in hours - good for him, if people buy that too then even better for him!

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Loobaz on May 7, 2014 15:22:29 GMT 1, The forum created all of this nonsense. Read Gp's two posts from 4:18 and 4:34 on the first day of the thread. Thanks for pointing me right, Bob, but you also prompted me to read the first few pages! (something I didn't/don't want to do again!)
I now see it was prior to both those posts that GP stated the 99.9% sure it is not Banksy (on the other thread) so that answers my question a bit. But I wonder if the artist had any part to play in asking for that "connection" to be said in public - it does seem with his/her initial promotion, they were clearly aiming for people to make an official Banksy connection?
I do find it odd that GP would state he never thought of Banksy (when obvious similarities were brought up in the first place on this thread), but then changed his tune a few posts later?
Then, with the knowledge that the artist was trying to associate this with Banksy on other sites, GP expressed his disappointment (obviously realising it was a little shady/dishonest), but still supported the release and didn't quash the marketing ploy.
GP was happy enough to quash the JPS connection, so how come he could not do so with Banksy? I would have thought it far easier to be certain it is not Banksy than not JPS.
Having read the thread again, I now have more questions for GP (not sure if Outis is a man or woman (despite needing names for shipping, payment, etc), but then seems sure it is a guy a bit later,), but I'll leave it there.
I missed all the initial hoopla about this, so shouldn't drag it up again. Too late, I know, but I was genuinely curious having liked and supported GPs first few releases.
I do see what you are saying about the forum creating this a bit, but GP's posts didn't help clear things up, when they could have done, and actually confused things a bit more.
People have said everything I am thinking and writing far better and more succinctly.
Note: I wrote this earlier in reply to Bob, then thought better of it, but seeing your post GP, I figured I'd post it. GP - if you truly did NOT want this to be associated with Banksy, and were made aware of the artist himself trying to do so, why didn't you quash it then and there?

OUTIS • Print Release • Street Art, by Graffiti Prints on May 7, 2014 15:44:42 GMT 1, Lol last time
I said I'm 99.99999% sure it's not
In my world that's as good as it gets
I thought I made myself clear
Please don't say why not say 100%
I'm not 100% about anything in life bar death and tax!
